Remy’s P.O.V.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing from him, I always thought of myself as homely and not worth much as those girls that looked like born models. He is indeed my dream man inside and out and I am going to tell him every thought that I am thinking of right now!
“Mad, I mean Maddox, I want to let you know that you make me feel better about myself in every way. I have always thought myself as homely and unworthy of a good man that is handsome, respectable and just down right perfect in everyway and doesn’t even know how great he really is. I was determined to live the rest of my life alone or with someone that was just as unworthy as me, trash, garbage or damaged goods. I am so lucky that I found a guy like you, who doesn’t see me the way that I see myself, but the way the world probably does, and I just don’t know it, I know definitely don’t realize that about myself. If I weren’t so happy, if you didn’t make me so happy, I would have fled the minute the waitress ogled you. I never want to eve feel like I don’t matter again, I want to feel the way you make me feel.” As I finished the said waitress comes over with our food, she sets our dishes in front of us.
“If you need anything else, my name is Gretchen.” She said as she looks at me as she talks.
“Thank you Gretchen, if we need anything I will be sure to let you know!” I say with a smile on my face. She leaves and then Maddox staring at me like he wants to say something.
“What?”
“How do I make you feel exactly?”
“That I am the most desirable woman out there, that I am the most beautiful girl in the world, my opinions matter to you, my happiness, my well-being, and most of all that I am truly loved by you and only you.”
“And that is how it is going to be for the rest of our lives.” He says with a big smile on his face which I return one just as big. The waitress at this time came over to our table to clear away the dishes, and Maddox pours us another glass of champagne.
“Would like dessert?” She asked.
“Yes, a piece of chocolate cheesecake and two cups of coffee.” He says.
“I will be right out with those.” She then turns on her heels and leaves.
“I somewhat feel sorry for her.”
“Why is that she should’ve been staring at me in the first place. That is unless you want her?” He says with an adorable looking smirk on his face.
“No of course not, she just seems extremely uncomfortable now. That’s all.” After me stating the obvious to him she returns with the piece of chocolate cheesecake and two cups in which then poured coffee into them. She then finally turns to Maddox and starts to speak, first to me then to him.
“I am so sorry miss, I didn’t mean anything by staring at your fiancé. He just looks and feels so familiar to me.”
“How so?” He asked her causing her to look at him.
“You look like someone that I know!”
“Come to think of it you do too.” He says to her, now I am feeling insecure.
“Oh no! Don’t tell me an ex-girlfriend!” I said as I could feel myself to start having a panic attack.
“No! No, not in a romantic way, and I definitely was trying to flirt with him when I was staring at him. It’s just that it feels like my soul knows him. If that makes any sense?”
“What’s your name?”
“Gretchen Monroe.”
“My name is Maddox McCormick!”
“As in Rene and Harold?”
“Yes, they were my parents too. I can’t believe that you forgot all about me!”
“What do you mean?”
“How old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Twenty-eight!” He answers. “And you?” He asked.
“Twenty-eight. You are my twin brother! I was adopted by Aunt Millie and Uncle Roy after our parents passed away!”
“Whoa, really? I lived with Nana Nancy McCormick and Papa Ted.”
“Oh, how are they doing?”
“They passed away five years ago.”
“You lived with them until then?”
“Yes they were getting old, I still have the house. I was told by them that the reason why we had to be split up was because they couldn’t afford to keep us both.”
“Yeah, I was told the same thing.”
“How about meeting sometime to catch up?”
“I would love that, and bring your wife I would like to get to know her too. Oh, and dinner is on me. I was just told that you were planning on proposing tonight but had to do it early.”
“We will talk about that some other time, right now I want to take her to one more place before going home.”
“Oh, do you two live together?”
“Yes, but it was a necessary thing.”
“you are good for him, you two seem to balance each other out.”
“How?” I asked.
“Well, with the muscles and mustache you come off as some brute, and she seems so sweet that when she is on your arm you seem more approachable, not so rough around the edges.”
“Oh, really now>” He says playfully.
‘I will let you guys go now. Go ahead run along I got this!” she says as we get up to leave. Leaving the same way we came in, arm in arm he leads me to the car and start off in the direction of our next destination. We drive for some time now and when we park we are at a bridge over looking the river.
“Wow! How beautiful!”
“Not as beautiful as you!”
“Do you not know how cliché that sounds, but coming from you I can tell just how genuine you are with your words.
“Well, this is the place where I was going to propose to you here, but someone had to ruin it!”
“I am so sorry!” I say as he gets down on one knee.
“Remy Holbeck since the first time we met you have taken my breath away each and every time, I was devastated when I found out that you were gong out with Donavon, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to get to know you. As we got to know each other we became closer every day, until I started to develop feelings that I never felt before. I didn’t realize what they were, but I wanted you to be my girl, and when I found out that you decided to be with Gilbert instead of me, especially after our date. Yes my dear Remy I considered that as our first date. You being with Gilbert and what happened between the both of you broke my heart that night, and that was the exact moment, I knew what the feeling was, I was in love with you! Remy Holbeck will you do me the honors of being my wife?”
“YES, YES, YES!!!” I say jumping into his arms just as I did that night that I ruin this for him.
