Chapter 40: On My own
Donavon’s P.O.V.
After saying what needed to be said to Maddox and Remy I went in through the back door and straight to Aston’s office, I entered without knocking like I always do.
“Hey cuz, so besides Remy being with that asshole, what’s new?” I asked him as I take a seat in front of his desk.
“Say what you may Don, but she is happy with him.” Now that is not what I expected to hear him say.
“WHAT! I HTOUGHT THAT OUT OF ANY OF US IT WOULD BE YOU THA TWOULD BE TRYING TO GET HER BACK! WHAT HAPPENED?” I shouted at him disbelief.
“I thought that you went home to get your priorities straight?” He answered my question with a question.
“I did and I decided that I want her and my baby, and I am not going to settle for anything less. So, with this being your fault that we are to together you are going to help me, right.”
No! She’s happy with him man, yes it hurts, but her happiness means more to me then my own. Sorry your on your own with this, I want no part of it.”
“You know what I quit, I want no part of either of the legal businesses or the illegal, I will form my own and get allies or merge with another.”
“Wait, what do you mean you quit?”
“Just as I said, I QUIT!!!” I say as I walk out the door. Pulling out my phone I know just who to call. I press the call button on the contact list under his name, it rings.
\[Sorry but the person that you are trying to reach is unavailable and their voice mail box is full. Please hang up and try again later.\] (What the hell, where the heck are you!)
Aston’s P.O.V.
After Donavon walked out of my office I know the first person that he will contact, and I can crush that with just one call from his father. I bring up his name from my contact list and press call.
\[Hello?\]
\[Hi Mr. Brighton, this is Aston Ashford, and we have a problem!\]
\[Oh, Aston what can I do for you?\]
\[Donavon just quit because I wouldn’t help him get Remy back, I know it is my fault that they are not together anymore, but she is happy with someone else now, and I do not wish to ruin it for her. I am afraid that he may try and contact your son Orville for help in forming a mafia of his own and getting her back by force.\] I explained to him for my call.
\[I don’t think he is going to find him, easily anyway. I had to have him committed in to the mental hospital here. I am afraid that he is too mentally unstable to be around anyone at this time.\]
Trevor’s flashback-
“Dad, I have to go and get Remy back, they can’t take her away from me!”
“Son, it is for her own protection. What happened anyway? Why are you here and not with her, shouldn’t you be with her until they show up?”
“That is the thing dad, Jake and Ken won’t let me!”
“Won’t let you why?”
“Because I am the reason why she wants to leave.”
“Wait, why?”
“Because me and Aunt Mary Lou caught her and Gio having sex on her brand-new kitchen table, I should have never let her go over there alone, but I thought that Aunt Mary Lou would be there. I got mad for her letting him touch her, I mean I am the only one who is allowed to, she is mine after all.”
“No son, she is your sister, not your lover!”
“You don’t understand dad, she was mine the day she was born!”
“YOUR SISTER!!!”
“NO!!! I AM OUT OF HERE!!!”
“NO, YOUR NOT! MEN CEASE HIM, TIE HIM UP IN THAT CHAIR, I HAVE TO CALL AND HAVE HIM COMMITTED!!!”
“NOOOOOOO!!!”
Back to the phone call with Aston
\[I agree, and I am starting to think that so is my cousin. So, will you help us in protecting Remy from him and anyone else that is trying to get ahold of her?\] I asked grabbing at straws for a reliable ally to align myself with in this matter.
\[Sure, I have no problem in helping you to protect Remy. She is after all the victim in all of this.\]
\[Good, thank you.\]
\[Is Jackson still with her?\]
\[Yes, why?\]
\[Because, I broke my alliance with Giovanni. It turns out and I know Remy doesn’t know but his wife Mary Lou is my sister. I have a feeling that when Gio finds out that your cousin is looking for allies he will be the first to call, besides my son if he was able to.\]
\[I will see about sending him back then, he let him stay on even though she told Gio that she has a new boyfriend.\]
\[Who?\]
\[Maddox!\]
\[Oh, the one that she named for the guys to call!\]
\[I suppose, I don’t know any of the details from Maddox, just that Remy was in trouble and asking for him. Without asking any questions I lend him my jet, and I also let Jett go with him.\]
\[ok, just make sure you send that guy back, Gio will start using him to keep tabs on her.\]
\[Got it, thanks again Trevor.\] I say before hanging up the phone. (now it is time to call everyone but Jackson in here to deal with Donavon’s issues) {Jess, have everyone but Jackson and the barmaids, come to my office. Tell Jackson that this is a bar issue and that I want him to keep an eye on the girls. Make something up to do with Remy if you have to.}
{Why? Isn’t he one of her guards too}
{No, I am sending him back, I will explain everything once you and everyone else gets her.}
{Ok, you’re the boss!} I then put away my paper work and wait for everyone to arrive.
Remy’s P.O.V.
After the episode with Gilbert and Donavon, Maddox took me in to the break room to make me some tea.
“Here babe this will help.” He says trying to comfort me as best as he can under the circumstances.
“Thanx, Mad.”
“Anything for you.” As I am in there with him sipping on my tea we get a call on our earpiece from Jess.
{I need you two in Aston’s office, it’s an emergency!} In stead o replying we just run out of there and up to Aston’s office, with our hands linked together. Entering the office without knocking we both bend over to catch our breaths.
“You two didn’t have to run here!” An amused Aston says trying to hold back his laughter. Maddox sits in a chair in front of his desk and pulls me up on to his lap. Once everyone is here Aston begins to speak.
“Ok, Donavon quit both illegal and legal of the family businesses. He is determine to form his own mafia and I think he will start with Orville.”
