Chapter 35: Yes and No.

Chapter 35: Yes and No.
Unknown:

The sweet aroma of fuchsia swirled around the twinkling night skies, feeling the cool granite headstone under my palm as Nailana Blackfang laid silently beneath the rich earth.

“They’re in good hands. You just rest in peace.” Humming softly to the cool breeze that swirled and lifted the dancing fireflies along the calm rolling hillsides of the new Dragon Realm and the vast colorful lights that painted the galaxy rich skies with their warmth and gentle embrace.

“Ya Idjits ready?” Chuckling darkly, fixing the black silk tie paired off with a black button down, black Armani Tuxedo and the classic high gloss wingbacks as the harmonious melodies of the James Bond Themed ball, danced smoothly along the winds.

“Watch it Asshole. You’re lucky we forgave your ass.” Ivar grumbled darkly with a hissing grunt from Akai, noticing the Hulks of Muscles dressed in their finest white Royal suits with vibrant embellishments decorated along their shoulders and lapels.

Nodding to the Royal Guards as they stood at attention, securing the black Phantom of the Opera themed mask as the grand staircase guided me into the grand formal ballroom of the Realms, swirling with the dancing hues of the changing LED lights and rich aromas of the gourmet buffets lined along the far walls.

Searching for the two distinct scents that drove my senses wild, sniffing enough to recognize the notorious gingersnaps as Onyx stood gracefully, dressed in a beautiful sheath tulle, off-the-shoulder applique long dress in a soft champagne color as she happily greeted the guests that were in a high abundance.

“She’s grown so much in these past years.” Akai and Ivar purred softly as her golden starbursts skimmed over the crowd, stopping at my gaze as she nodded to follow her. Her hand trailed along the forearm of the strapping young man to her right as she whispered into his ear, catching his questioning gaze as his greenish orbs swirled with mischievousness.

“Follow us.” A rich timbered voice spoke from my side as two identical men flanked my sides, motioning with their hand to follow as Onyx and the other gentlemen disappeared behind a large, pillared wall of twinkling lights wrapped inside of white tulle. Slipping behind the barrier stepping inside the double-hickory doors to a spacious library that rolled and climbed into the vibrant stained-glass dome depicting majestic, winged creatures with soul touching orbs of glowing hues.

“You have some explaining to do Lucy.” Ivar mocked in a horrible Ricky Ricardo tone, halting my steps as warm arms embraced me tightly with a light giggle, pulling back with that magical smile as the triplets stepped behind her.

“Can we have a taste test? Never had Dragon before, especially a Marine. PURR!” The horny beasts bantered loudly, chuckling against her silvery-purple locks twisted up into a beautiful waterfall of curls, enhanced by the gorgeous golden horns that twisted and slanted back from her head. Shaking each of the guys firm grips, snapping my fingers as four brandies appeared in our hands, taking seats in the matching brown leather wingbacks centered around the grand stone-faced fireplace that popped and crackled softly in a smoky hickory aroma.

“I take it that our lovely Onyx filled you in our dream meeting?” Sipping the woodsy bouquet as it slowly warmed my tongue and throat, mingling perfectly in the pit of my stomach as the triplets adjusted their Marine dress blues so that the jacket edges laid perfectly along their poised sitting stance. Their white gloved hands embracing the beautiful etched glasses with the ambered liquid smoothly to their plush lips.

“No secrets, plus it’s kind of hard to not notice the images of your meeting. The Unicorns, really Seth.” Mikkel chuckled against his drink, side glancing Onyx stuck in a strange trance as her eyes misted over in a joyful aura, leaning forward to touch my hand to make sure she wasn’t going crazy. Lacing our fingers together with a soft squeeze, reassuring her that this was all real.

“It is Seth Whitetail, correct?” Birgir laughed haughtily, taking a slow swig of his brandy as Onyx shot him a stern stare.

“In this life, yes, Seth Whitetail.” Letting go of her warm hand as she leaned back, crossing her leg gracefully like a firm businesswoman listening in on a business acquisition. Exhaling in preparations for the barge of questioning but was surprised when their straight faces lifted into sly smirks with glowing orbs of greenish-yellows and golds.

“Do they know you’re here?” Davyn looked up with a shit eating grin, stopping my breath in a tight lump.

“You keep looking at me like that, and Queen Onyx will get a show of a lifetime.” Winking at all three of their shocked expressions, laughing with the chesty laughter that slipped past Onyx’s silky-smooth lips as she sipped her brandy.

“Oh, please do indulge my curiosity.” Onyx leaned forward, flashing her voluptuous cleavage as she smoothed out the satin material so it wouldn’t wrinkle too much in her sitting pose.

“She’s perfect.” The beasts laughed joyously as the guys coughed back strangled breaths, looking at her with perplexed expressions as the grand library filled with thunderous laughter.

“Don’t give her any ideas. She’s a hand-full already, we don’t need you adding to her naughtiness.” The guys winked at her blushing face, smiling at them as my once cold-heart panged with a heavy ache. Remembering the feeling of being loved, desired, and happy as a stray tear slipped past the fleshy barrier, quickly wiped away with a gentle finger as Onyx gripped my hand tightly.

“They’ll be shocked, but ecstatic to see you again. Even the King of the Dead deserves happiness, and you my good man deserve it all.” Onyx giggled softly as she stood with a smooth hand along her legs and hips, adjusting her curves trapped inside that form-fitted gown that did wonders to the eye.

“Hey! Get your own. She’s ours!” Mikkel wrapped his arms around her waist with a playful wink and gentle kiss to her cheek as he swayed her side-to-side.

“Quick question, the Unicorns and Phoenix’s?” Birgir perked a questioning brow at me, hooking his arm around her waist as Davyn mirrored his stance on the opposite side.

“Fair enough.” Ivar and Akai agreed with the question, seeing that they seemed understanding of my position and involvement with all this crazy-ass-shit that the lovely ladies decided to set in motion from the beginning.

“It’s a little complicated to explain, but there always has to be a natural balance. The Watchmen were not the only quadruplets born to Titan. Their mother had a twin sister, but she was coldhearted, sold her own sister to Titan as payment for her gambling debts in the Underground. Again, natural balance. Sam was a gentle soul, managing to find forgiveness in her darkest days, that’s why they are the Watchmen. Phoenix’s were watchful creatures with hearts of light created by darkness. Always rising from the ashes, rebirth.”

“Sam’s sister, Sara, gave birth to the “Unicorns” just outside of Demon Wolf territory on the same day, abandoning them with no concern to their well-being. Her life was ended by the same man she laid with willing, because he wanted those boys for his own gain. We all know what happens when evil creates life, look at the Shadows and Hunters for example.” Exhaling the long overdue breath that caught tightly in my throat, smiling weakly knowing the pain and burden that gripped everyone involved with this fucked up string of events.

“But you’re the King of the Dead, wasn’t there something you could have done to fix all of it?” Davyn nuzzled his nose into Onyx’s locks as she rubbed his forearm with a soft smile, looking at him with bright eyes.

“Yes and No. Take Onyx for example. If I would have pulled rank over the ladies in charge of this Fucked-up scheme, then you four would not be standing here right now as the New Dragon Royals, along with the others that you call “family”. All those gorgeous babies would have never been born and my precious mates, would be in far worse situations than they experienced. Yes, awful things happened to everyone, but everyone found the resolve to survive and overcame the darkness that toyed and manipulated their lives.” Downing the rest of the ambered liquid with a satisfied sigh.

“Do the guys know they’re half-brothers? Are we supposed to know this information?” Onyx looked at me with a concerned expression as the guys’ arms squeezed her gently.

“Yes. When Jaxon and Braxton went overseas for medical school, they reunited with Jayden and Greyson. The Quad Squad stumbled onto the Watchmen at their Club in London and let’s say things got a little weird, poor Maxi and Elicia had their hands full for a while. Their identities are only known in this room, besides them but under strict orders from the Goddesses. Everything had to play out accordingly to plan before their identities could be revealed.” Stepping back a step as there dragons voiced their disgust with snarling growls and smoky plumes of fiery smoke, smacking back the toothy grins of Ivar and Akai.

“I understand completely, but you of all creatures should understand the natural law of supernatural. It’s not something you can just play around with. Mara made a grave mistake when she summoned the Unicorns because she also summoned me, but I stayed silent in the shadows as she made her deal with them. It was my golden ticket to return to the Living Realm as Seth and destroy the abominations she had created over the centuries. Natural Order had to be restored with a special sacrifice which is taking place as we speak.” Feeling the bubbling heat coursing through my veins as their serpent eyes, gleamed a haunting silver hue sparking a surge of electrical static to burst from my trembling body.

“You’re damn lucky our dragons understand your placement in all of this bullshit, but one wrong step and I’ll roast your ass personally.” Onyx stepped into my chest with a firm finger poking into the soft material of the black button down. Clasping my hand over hers, placing it flat against my chest so she could feel the rapid pace my heart thumped against my muscular chest.
