Chapter 37 His Ex
Waking up, Aurora found Arthur’s arms still cuddled around her just like when they fell asleep.
She let out a wide smile as she stared at his sleeping face. ‘He’s so handsome!’ This word kept ringing in her head as she took her time to admire his beauty again.
“Are you going to keep staring?” Arthur uttered, causing her eyes to slightly widen in shock. He opened his eyes and let out a smile too.
“I could feel you staring at me from under my eyelids.” He added, planting a kiss on her forehead.
“Good morning.” She greeted shyly, staring into his eyes.
“Good morning. Did you enjoy your sleep?” He asked, caressing her hair.
“It was short, like you know, but it was sound too.” She answered, and they both chuckled.
“What would you like to do today?” He asked her, and she shrugged.
“I don’t know. What do you have in mind?” She asked, and he breathed out softly and looked up at the ceiling.
“Maybe we can go to the mall not so far from here to get the boys some things. I promised them we’ll return with more toys and goodies for them.” He answered, and Aurora nodded.
“We should do that. I miss the boys already.” She responded as she got up and sat at the edge of the bed.
Arthur lifted his body and placed his hands behind his head, watching her.
“Where are you going?” He asked, and she turned to look at him.
“I want to take a shower. Are you coming?” She asked, and a smirk curved up Arthur’s lips.
“Are you sure?” He teased, causing her to roll her eyes.
“We had enough yesterday, baby. We are not doing another this morning, okay?” She warned him, and he broke into laughter.
“Fine. But I can still join you there, right?” He asked, and she nodded.
Getting up from the bed, she made her robe slide down her body as she took a glance at Arthur from above her shoulder.
“You said I shouldn’t touch you, and now you’re trying to seduce me?” He asked, standing up from the bed and approaching him.
“I’m not trying to seduce you! I just wanted to see if you were getting undressed too.”
“Why do I have to undress? I have only boxers on.” He answered, cuddling her up from behind.
They got into the bathroom and sat in the bathtub. Aurora rested her back on Arthur’s chest as she played with the foam on the water.
While Arthur watched her, his phone, which was placed not so far from him, rang, pulling Aurora’s attention to him. Arthur picked his phone to check the caller, and when he saw who it was, he hastily hung up.
Letting out a feeble smile, he placed his phone back in its initial position.
“Who was that?” Aurora asked, packing more foam in her hands.
“Nobody.” Arthur answered, and Aurora nodded, unbothered.
After a while, they were done in the bathroom and they headed out to start dressing up. There were clothes in the closet for them already, so they just picked the one they liked.
Aurora picked a floral dress, with thin straps because she believed the day was going to be hot. Summer was fast approaching.
Arthur picked a simple outfit too. He wore a white shirt and black shorts.
After they were done, they headed out of the resort. A car was already waiting for them at the door to take them to the mall.
They settled in the car and Aurora stared out of the window enjoying the morning beauty of the city.
“Here we are.” Arthur uttered as the car stopped. She looked up and in front of her was a large mall called Pecanland Mall.
“Wow. It’s so beautiful.” Aurora uttered as they walked into the mall. There were so many beautiful things that caught Aurora’s attention.
Arthur couldn’t help but see her as a child who was always blown away by the smallest things.
“See! Let’s get that for Rowan.” She uttered, pointing to a big elephant teddy bear.
“He’s going to like that?” Arthur asked as they walked to where it was.
“Yes. Rowan is a very clingy child. He’d be so happy to have something to hold onto at night when he falls asleep.
“Let’s get it then. What of Ryan and Riley? Books?” He further asked, and she nodded.
“Yes. Books.”
While they shopped, Arthur often stood behind her and watched her pick what the boys would love. No doubts, she knew more than him.
After picking some chocolate bars which was the last thing on Aurora’s list, she let out a satisfied smile.
“I think these should do.” She uttered, looking at the three full shopping bags in Arthur’s hands.
“Let’s check that place out.” Arthur uttered, pointing to the women clothing section.
“What? For me?” Aurora asked, and he nodded.
“Yes. Why?” He inquired.
“Baby, I have enough dresses to last me a lifetime. I don’t need more, okay? Thank you.” Aurora answered, and he heaved a sigh and nodded.
“I thought they must have grown old and out of style.”
“C’mon, Arthur. Some of them cost up to ten thousand dollars and I haven’t even worn them. I don’t need dresses until whenever.”
“Not even shoes?”
“No, baby. I’m good.” She answered, and they began to head out of the mall.
On their way out, while Aurora was in front, looking around and feeding her eyes like she always does, she felt that Arthur wasn’t walking behind her anymore.
She looked back and realized he had stood walking and was staring intensely at something.
“Baby?” She called, hastily walking back to him. “Why did you stop?” She asked, raising her head to see what he was staring at.
“What’s wrong? I can’t see anything. What are you looking at?” She further questioned.
While she kept looking and wondering, a beautiful, young woman stood in front of them with a hearty smile on her face.
“Arthur.” She called.
Aurora looked at Arthur as she expected him to respond, but he kept mute, still staring at her coldly. Immediately Aurora noticed this, she stepped in immediately.
“Hi! I’m sorry but we have to leave now.” She uttered as politely as possible, diverting the woman’s attention to her.
“I was talking to Arthur, not you.” She answered, and Aurora raised her eyebrows in awe.
‘Who the fk does she think she is?!’ Aurora yelled in her head.
“What do you want, Anita?” Arthur finally spoke up within gritted teeth, causing Aurora’s eyes to widen even more.
‘She's Anita! His Ex!’ She yelled in her head.
“I saw you and wanted to say hello to you, that’s all. Why is your wife acting so possessive? I didn’t even touch you.” Anita scoffed.
“She’s not my wife. And you don’t have to say hello to me.” Arthur answered as he walked past Anita, leaving Aurora behind in shock.
‘I’m not his wife?! Did he have to say that in front of her?!’ Aurora thought in anger.
“You are not even married to him and you’re acting all possessive. You’re a fool to believe he’ll actually settle for someone like you when he can’t still get me out of his head.” Anita uttered boastfully, her eyes running from Aurora’s head to her toes in disgust before walking away.
Aurora’s jaw dropped as she couldn’t move from where she stood. She looked up and realized Arthur didn’t wait for her, neither did he come back to get her.
‘What the fk just happened?’
