Chapter 25 Make love tonight
Aurora, covered in nervousness, opened her room door and walked in with her hands folded in front of her.
Behind her was Arthur, walking into her room with his hands buried in his pockets.
Getting into the room, Aurora turned to look at Arthur, who was busy looking around like he had never been in there before.
“So tell me what you and Theo have been doing in this room.” He uttered, folding his arms on his chest.
Aurora heaved a loud sigh and shook her head. “I told you we don’t do anything. We just chat and laugh.” She responded tiredly.
“That’s all you do? If that’s all, why are you two on bad terms now?” Arthur further questioned, walking closer to Aurora, burying his hands in his pockets again.
Aurora said nothing and kept moving back as Arthur didn’t stop moving closer to her.
“You are not sleeping with him, are you? You’re sleeping with my butler in my own house!” Arthur smacked as Aurora hit her back against the window.
“We are not fking!” Aurora yelled in response, breathing very hard. ‘What does he even take me for?’ She pondered as their angry gazes locked.
“I’m going to find out what’s going on between you two.”
“Why do you even care, hun? Now it’s prohibited that I be in a relationship? I’m just your maid, aren’t I? Why do you care who I’m sleeping with?” Aurora boldly questioned, keeping their eye contact intact.
“So that’s you admitting you slept with him? You enjoyed it, didn’t you? The way he’s all over you. The way he touches you. You love it, don’t you? You little…”
“Enough!” She threw a slap across his face, shutting him up.
“I am no slut, okay?!” She yelled, causing his eyes to widen and his jaw to drop.
“Did you just slap me?” He asked in shock.
“You want to know what happened? Fine! I’ll show you what happened!”
She grabbed his face and pulled him in, covering his lips with hers aggressively.
Still in shock, Arthur stared at her as she kissed him with her eyes closed. ‘What the hell!!’ He yelled in his head as he pushed her off him.
“Are you crazy?!” He yelled, covering his lips in awe.
“You wanted to know what happened, didn’t you? Well, that was what happened. Are we good now? Can you please leave now? You’ll never change! I feel so bad for the boys, when they find out the real you!” She smacked with tears rolling down her eyes uncontrollably.
‘I don’t think I like him. I hate him! I hate him so much!’ She said to herself as she broke into more tears.
Arthur blankly stared at her as she broke into tears.
“Go! Leave me alone!” She yelled out of nowhere, causing him to flinch.
He clenched his jaws and tightened his fists as he hastily walked out of her room.
With long strides, he headed back to his room, and as soon as he entered, he shut the door behind him, breathing hard.
“What just happened?” He mumbled, slightly running his finger over his lips.
His heart began to pound against his chest very fast. His panting increased as he walked to the mirror to look at himself.
He tried fighting whatever he was feeling and this caused a series of emotions to surge across his body.
‘What’s happening to me?’ He pondered as he tried to calm himself down.
He hadn’t felt like that in a long time. The last time he felt that way was when he was still involved with Anita.
“No. No. This isn’t real. I am just reflecting on my past feelings. Nothing more.” He mumbled as he stormed out of his room and headed to the bar to great a bottle of whiskey.
He opened the bottle and turned it upside down in his mouth, gulping most of it in one go.
He needed that feeling to disappear. He made a promise to himself.
‘I will never fall in love with another woman. And that is final. It’s never going to happen. Ever!’ He said to himself, gulping down another generous amount of the drink.
“They are here.” Derick said to Carter as they heard them drive into the parking space in his compound.
Carter’s chest rose and fell as he stared at the door with anxiety and anxiousness.
“I… I don’t think I can do this.” He mumbled, shaking his head. He tried to stay calm as much as he could but his trembling hands didn’t help issues.
“No. No. Baby, look at me.” Derick uttered, cupping Carter’s face in his hands.
“Look at me. We are doing this. No going back on this, okay? I love you.” Derick reassured him, looking into his eyes.
Carter nodded in agreement, letting out a deep breath, hoping this would calm him down. Just then, they heard his parents at the door.
“I’m coming!” Derick uttered, giving Carter’s hand a slight squeeze before heading to the door to open up for them.
“Derick!” His mother called as they embraced each other.
“Mom… Dad.” Derick greeted, embracing his dad too. Carter stood behind them, unsure of how to greet them.
“Hey! Your butler is back!” His mother uttered, waving at him.
“Hi, Ma’am.” He greeted, bowing slightly.
“I’ve prepared dinner, okay? Let’s head to the table.” Derick uttered, leading the way. He looked at Carter and gave him a reassured smile.
Carter heaved a sigh and followed behind them quietly.
As they settled down in the dining room, Derick’s mom, Tasha began to look around.
“Where is the woman you’re with now?” She asked eagerly as Derick served out their food.
He signaled to Carter to come closer to him and sit next to him.
“Why are you rushing? We still have time, don’t we?” Derick asked with a grin as he also settled down.
“Well, it’s late. If she hasn’t arrived, then we should be worried.” His father added as he began to dig into his food.
“Your butler is sitting with us? You didn’t tell me he’s back.” Tasha uttered, taking a bite from her meal.
Carter swallowed hard and lowered his head, making no attempt to touch the food in front of him.
“He is not my butler, Mom.” Derick uttered, and they all raised their heads to look at him.
“Really?” His father asked, and he nodded.
“Yes. He was my butler, but he has always been more than that. Mom, Dad… he is the one I’m with. He’s my boyfriend.” Derick uttered with a smile, reaching for Carter’s hand and giving it a firm squeeze.
“What?!” Tasha asked in confusion.
“What are you saying, son?” His father asked, placing his spoon on his plate.
“I’m saying this is the man I love and the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I should have done this a long time ago, but I was scared of what you may say. But I can’t keep denying who I am. So there you go, mom and dad. This is him.” Derick further explained.
His father scoffed in response and pushed back his chair aggressively.
“You called me here to ridicule me, right?!” He smacked, picking up his phone from the table.
“No.” Derick answered, standing up. Though he made sure his hand was still connected with Carter’s.
“We are a Christian family, Derick!” His father added, making his way out of the dining area in anger.
“I know, but this is who I am, and I can’t change that!”
“Of course, you will! Because you are my son!” He smacked back and kept walking without looking back.
Derick swallowed hard and turned to look at his mother who was still seated in silence.
“Mom, can you please talk to Dad? I’m not a kid anymore. I can make decisions on my own now, okay?” Derick uttered, and his mother slowly stood up, reaching for her purse.
“I’m highly disappointed in you, Derick. May the good Lord forgive you.” She muttered, walking away too.
“Mom! You haven’t even touched your food!” Derick yelled in pain as he watched both of them leave. His heart shattered as he hoped this was going to go a different way.
He wished they could at least listen to him and support their son, but he was wrong. He was always wrong about them. They will never change.
Derick moved out of the dining area and ran after them, but before he got to them, they were in the car already, driving out of his compound.
“Sht.” He cursed, staring at the car as they zoomed off.
“I’m sorry, Derick. I’m truly sorry.” Carter uttered from the entrance, and Derick turned to look at him, hiding his pains with a smile.
“No, you don’t have to be. I am the one with unsupportive parents, not you. Don’t feel bad. I should have done this a long time ago.” He retorted, walking back into the house.
“I feel so horrible right now. Your parents probably hate you now.” Carter mumbled, turning to walk to the couch, but Derick pulled him into his arms.
“As long as you don’t hate me. I’m good. They have always wanted me to be who I’m not. I’m glad I could eventually come out to them.” Derick answered, still smiling softly.
“You don’t feel bad?” Carter asked, caressing his face with his hands.
“Don’t worry. It will wear off. Right now, let’s focus on each other.” Derick uttered, planting a soft kiss on his lips, and for the first time that night, a smile formed on Carter’s face.
“Let’s make love tonight.” Carter whispered, staring at Derick’s lips lustfully.
