Chapter 1042 Not Enough Rooms!

Chapter 1042 Not Enough Rooms!

In the afternoon, as Mary and her group landed, Timothy had just finished packing his bags.

Ewan had given them a tight schedule this time, requiring them to rush to Starnova Town overnight for a conference starting the next day.

So, he and a few colleagues had booked a flight that would leave in the afternoon.

To his surprise, when he arrived at the airport to meet his colleagues, he saw Catherine waiting nearby.

"You?"

"What, not happy to see me?" Catherine smiled warmly. "I specifically asked Ewan to let me join the trip. Don't kill my enthusiasm for learning."

Timothy didn't respond immediately, unsure if he was just surprised or annoyed.

Dash and Jett quickly chimed in, "It's our pleasure to study with a beautiful lady. We're more than happy to have you."

"Yeah, let's not waste time. Let's get going."

Catherine's expression softened, and she continued, "Great, I'm eager to see the place. It holds a special past for me."

Timothy, who had been silent, softened at her words.

He stepped forward to help Catherine with her luggage. "Let's go."

Catherine's eyes flickered with a barely noticeable joy.

She knew that mentioning that would soften his heart.

Returning to this place, she believed that if she seized the opportunity, she could win him back, and they could reconcile.

With that thought, she pushed aside the nagging thoughts about Mary and Timothy's secret and followed with a bright smile.

No matter what, if they reconciled this time, Mary wouldn't be a problem.

Dash and Jett exchanged glances, smiled, and followed them inside.

Returning to Starnova Town, Mary almost didn't recognize it.

The towering buildings and bustling streets were common in other cities, but for Starnova Town, which had been rebuilt after an earthquake two years ago, it was remarkable.

"This place is really thriving, no wonder it's part of Westfield."

Sitting in the taxi, Rachel admired the scenery.

Lucas nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we should explore a bit if we have time. After the competition, we can buy some souvenirs for friends."

Mary didn't comment, but she agreed that the place was nice.

However, today was not the day for exploring; they were all exhausted from the journey.

They soon arrived at the hotel. Mary shared a room with Rachel, and Lucas stayed across from them.

After dropping off their luggage and freshening up, they headed downstairs for dinner.

Since it was already 7 PM when they arrived, they opted for a local restaurant known for its light and delicious food.

"The competition registration starts the day after tomorrow, so we have a free day tomorrow."

After ordering, Lucas asked, "Where do you guys want to go?"

Mary and Rachel exchanged a glance. Rachel said, "Lucas, I think I want to stay at the hotel. With the competition coming up, I'd rather wait until it's over to go out."

Mary nodded in agreement.

Lucas shook his head. "You two can't be serious. The more you stress before an exam, the more likely you are to mess up. You both know this."

He paused and continued, "Go out, explore, have some fun. You might even get some inspiration. Trust me, it's a tip from my design days. Before any big project, I'd always take a break and explore. It really helps."

Mary and Rachel finally understood.

"Lucas is right!" Rachel nodded eagerly. "Can I have some free time then?"

Lucas was taken aback. "Where do you want to go?"

"Lucas, a girl has her secret places to visit. Just say if we can have free time."

"Sure, just be back by six."

Lucas smiled helplessly.

"I'll take some free time too," Mary said, pulling out her phone. "Do you know where the earthquake site is?"

"The earthquake site?"

Rachel shook her head. "It's my first time here, so I have no idea."

"You want to go there?" Lucas remembered what Mary had mentioned on the plane.

He nodded. "It's a good idea. I don't know where it is either, but I'll go with you tomorrow."

Mary was about to refuse, but Lucas insisted, "We're all tired today. Rest up, and we'll have breakfast at nine before heading out. How does that sound?"

"How considerate," Rachel teased, making it hard for Mary to refuse.

Back in their room after dinner, Rachel couldn't help but marvel, "Mary, you have such good taste. Lucas is such a great guy."

"He's not my boyfriend, don't get the wrong idea."

"Okay, okay, I get it."

No matter how Mary explained, Rachel remained convinced, so she gave up trying.

As Mary and her friends were settling in for the night, Timothy and his group finally arrived at the hotel.

Coincidentally, it was the same hotel as Mary and her friends.

But they didn't know that yet.

To make things more interesting,

"Only two rooms left?" Dash asked in surprise.

"Yes, I'm sorry," the receptionist said, looking awkwardly at the three men and one woman.

"It's my fault. I was in such a rush today that I only booked the flights and forgot about the hotel," Jett admitted, scratching his head.

"Let's find another hotel," Dash suggested.

Before Timothy could respond, the receptionist quickly added, "There are many events happening in Starnova Town right now, like business promotions, academic exchanges, and international competitions. Most hotels are fully booked. We're the best five-star hotel in town with the largest capacity."

The four of them fell silent.

If they went out to find another hotel, they might not find one, and they could lose these rooms too. Would they end up spending the night on the streets?
