Chapter 1041: So There Is a Human-Shaped Hot Water Bottle!

Timothy, being a doctor, knew a lot about menstrual cramps. He started to gently massage Mary's abdomen.

Mary's discomfort eased significantly, and she felt much better.

"What are you doing?" Mary's heart raced, almost leaping out of her chest. She instinctively tried to pull away.

Timothy held her tighter. "Just relax. We learned massage techniques in med school. If I massage you tonight, the next few days won't be as bad."

His words were like a spell, freezing Mary in place.

She always suffered during her period, and if there was a way to alleviate the pain, she was all for it. Otherwise, it would definitely affect her business trip.

This competition was incredibly important to her.

Mary didn't want to miss it or make any mistakes.

Thank you, she thought silently, feeling more relaxed.

This birthday was turning out to be a great start, wasn't it?

Timothy was even gentler today than he was yesterday.

His gentleness was far more captivating than his usual cold demeanor.

This was nice.

Mary felt enveloped in warmth, the faint scent of cologne calming her. Sleepiness soon overtook her, and she drifted off.

Timothy watched her fall asleep within minutes and couldn't help but chuckle.

Mary really didn't have many worries.

But,

Timothy's gaze lingered on Mary's long eyelashes, rosy lips, and slender neck, feeling a stir in his heart.

She looked even cuter asleep than awake.

Timothy smiled slightly, holding her close, feeling an unexpected sense of peace and comfort.

If he could always hold her like this, it wouldn't be so bad.

As he continued to massage her, he too fell asleep, lost in thought.

Both slept dreamlessly through the night.

The next morning, Mary woke up first.

She groggily reached for her phone to check the time, but found herself unable to move.

Mary furrowed her brow and tried to shift, but her arm wouldn't budge, and her legs brushed against two warm, long limbs.

What's going on?

Mary's eyes snapped open, her mind instantly alert.

Timothy!

She remembered the last scene from the night before—Timothy had come up behind her, holding her and massaging her stomach.

Sure enough, she smelled the faint scent of cologne and turned slightly, her cheek brushing against Timothy's chest.

The strong heartbeat in her ear made it hard to tell if it was hers or Timothy's.

Had they really slept like this all night?

Not only that, but Timothy's hand was still on her abdomen, warm and dry, radiating heat.

No wonder she slept so well, without any discomfort.

He was like a human hot water bottle!

No, he wasn't just a hot water bottle.

Mary felt herself burning up but didn't dare move.

Just as she was about to stiffen completely, Timothy stirred, his handsome face coming closer. "You're awake?"

"I…"

Mary wished she could disappear under the covers.

But she suddenly remembered she had a flight to catch and quickly pushed Timothy away, sitting up in a hurry.

"I have to catch a flight. I need to get ready."

She got up, dressed, and quickly washed up, applying a light professional makeup.

She drank a glass of milk in a few gulps and ordered a car.

Before she could reach the door, Timothy was there, grabbing her luggage.

"What are you doing?" Mary asked, surprised.

"I'm coming with you."

"To see me off?" Mary felt a warmth in her heart, touched that he was going to the airport with her.

"I have to go to work anyway, so I'll take you downstairs."

Well, that was a quick turnaround. She should have known Timothy wouldn't go out of his way for her.

He didn't care about her.

Mary's spirits sank, and she followed him silently, not saying another word.

They arrived at the airport in silence, where Lucas and Rachel were already waiting in the lobby.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Mary greeted them quickly.

"No problem," Lucas said, shaking his head as he came over to help with her luggage.

Rachel smiled politely and greeted her as well.

The three of them passed through security and boarded the plane.

Even seated, Mary couldn't stop thinking about the past two days.

Spending two nights with Timothy felt like a dream.

"I heard Starnova Town has a lot of fun places. I've never been there before. Are you familiar with it, Mary?" Lucas started chatting as soon as he sat down.

Mary snapped out of her thoughts. "Lucas, did you say Starnova Town?"

"Yeah, didn't you read the invitation?"

"I was a bit careless and didn't check the location," Mary admitted. She had been busy packing and then got caught up with Timothy.

So they were going to Westfield's Starnova Town?

Hearing the name brought back memories.

She hadn't been there in a long time.

The last time she visited, she witnessed the bustling city turn into ruins.

"Mary, Mary?"

Lucas waved a hand in front of her face, curious. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just remembering something," Mary smiled. "My father came to help after the earthquake there a few years ago."

"You mean the big earthquake a few years back?"

"Yes," Mary nodded. "I snuck along and ended up saving someone."

"Really? That's amazing!" Lucas was surprised and impressed. "I didn't know you were so brave."

"I was just worried about my father's safety," Mary shook her head.

Her eyes flickered. "Let's not talk about it. It's all in the past."

This trip would be a good chance to see how the city had recovered.

She looked at the plane taking off and smiled apologetically at Lucas. "Lucas, I get a bit airsick. I'm going to sleep for a while. Wake me when we land."

"Sure," Lucas nodded, his plans for conversation thwarted. "Let me know if you need anything."

"Thanks, Lucas."

Mary put on her eye mask and closed her eyes, ending the conversation.

…

Timothy had just arrived at the hospital when a nurse came to get him. "Dr. Reed, the director wants to see you."

"Okay."

Timothy changed and went to Director Ewan's office.

"The hospital wants to send you on a business trip. I checked your schedule, and you don't have any surgeries coming up. Is that okay?"

Timothy nodded without hesitation. "Sure."

Ewan got straight to the point. "You're the top neurosurgeon here. There's a conference in Westfield's Starnova Town with international medical experts. Dash and Jett will be going too. You'll be leading them."

Starnova Town?

So that's where they were going?

Timothy nodded. He hadn't been there in years. It was the place where he found a new beginning. "Don't worry, Ewan. I'll be well-prepared."
