Overthinking
"Don't tell me you're scared because my mother died in your house?" Damian held back his smile, it seemed he knew the main reason why Ruby was suddenly afraid to stay at home even though she had been living alone in the house for a few days.
Ruby endured her embarrassment, but she also couldn't avoid it because the main reason why she didn't want to live alone in this house was because of the confession Damian said about his mother.
Damian smiled gently and then drove his car and looked for the right position to park his car. Then he got out of the car and approached Ruby while holding back a smile.
"So what? Do you want me to stay at your house?"
"If you don't mind, I can prepare a room for you."
"How about I just sleep in your room?"
"W-what? In my room?"
Ruby's shocked reaction made Damian unable to hold back his laughter. He laughed as he walked towards the still closed door of the house.
"Because you invited me to stay at your house, so I have to sleep in your room too!" Damian teased her with a sweet smile that she knew was just a joke.
"Okay, you can sleep in my room!" Ruby responded with a joke too. But what she didn't know was that men never considered things like that as a joke.
Ruby opened the door to her house where the electricity in the house was back on. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to survive another night in this house after hearing all the tragic news that Damian said.
"Want to drink tea?"
"No, thank you, if I may, I'd just like to take a shower!"
"But you didn't bring a change of clothes?"
"I can sleep without wearing any clothes at all!" He said as he stepped towards the bathroom after giving a signal that Ruby could easily understand.
Ruby started to feel anxious, she still remembered very clearly that she and Damian had made love and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences in her life. However, if that experience had to happen again now, she wasn't sure whether she was really ready, considering that it had been a long time since she and Damian had seen each other and if it happened again, it probably wouldn't feel the same.
"No no, what was I thinking! I'm sure Damian already has a girlfriend and there's no way we could do that again. We'll just sleep until tomorrow morning and nothing will happen tonight." She thought. Suddenly her heart started beating fast and he felt very restless.
She prepared a towel for Damian and placed it in front of the bathroom door. Remembering what Damian said about sleeping together in her bedroom, she really hoped that it was just a joke. But when she heard Damian's voice, who had just come out of the bathroom and was walking behind her, she suddenly felt like her heart had stopped beating.
"Ruby!" Damian called her and she slowly looked back only to see Damian standing behind her with his body and hair still half wet and only wearing a white towel wrapped around his hips.
"Y-you need something?"
"I want to ask, where do I sleep?"
"In my bedroom!"
"What was I saying? Why did I say those stupid things?" She thought. Ruby really regretted what she had said 15 minutes ago.
Now she could only stay silent in her bedroom with a strange feeling of awkwardness. Meanwhile Damian sat quietly on her bed.
"Are you sure I can sleep here?" Seeing Ruby who looked anxious, Damian felt uneasy. He was afraid that his presence in this room would actually make Ruby uncomfortable.
He got out of bed and decided to leave the room. He thought he could sleep on the living room sofa.
"Where are you going?" Realizing Damian was leaving. Ruby hurriedly stopped him.
"I'd better sleep on the sofa. You'd be nervous if you had to share a room with me, right?"
"B-but-"
After thinking about it, it was true, it was too rash to ask Damian to sleep in the same room as her. Even though they haven't seen each other for 10 years. But still, she was a woman and Damian was a man, it was impossible for them to just sleep without doing anything.
"No need to worry, if you're scared, you can close your eyes! If something happens, you scream for me. I'll come right away!" Damian said as he walked away.
Damian had just left this room, the atmosphere around her already felt quiet. If Damian hadn't told her that his mother had been found dead in the basement of this house. She definitely didn't feel afraid and could still sleep peacefully like the previous nights. But because Damian had already said so, she wouldn't be able to stay alone in this house any longer.
Ruby took a deep, adorable breath slowly. Even though she still felt scared, at least he knew that Damian was on the first floor so she didn't have to feel like she was alone in this house.
She stepped towards the bed, lay down and immediately covered herself with a blanket. Suddenly the image of Mrs. Erika's face who spoke to her that day reappeared in her head.
"So, who was talking to me at that time?" She mumbled softly and tried to close her eyes so she could fall asleep quickly.
