Chapter 28 Family Secrets

The hospital room in Graves Tower was really bright after all the stuff that happened in the forest. Iris sat on the edge of a hospital bed holding Luciens hand tight. He was hurt,. The doctors fixed him up. They got the stuff out of his head and stitched up his shoulder. He was awake. He looked really tired and sad.

Around them the room was like a place for their big family. Elias, Lila, Noah and Hope were all sleeping on two beds pushed together. They were all curled up like puppies under blankets. The three new babies. Rose, Lily and Violet. Were sleeping in boxes with machines beeping all around them. Aurora and Dawn were sitting in chairs talking quietly. They were sisters. They had not seen each other in a long time. Claire was resting in a chair recovering from having the babies.

Dr. Amara Soto was checking on everyone making sure they were all okay. Sophia and Serena were standing by the door watching everything. Captain Reyes was sleeping in the room finally getting some rest.

Iris touched Luciens hair. "How do you feel?" she asked.

He smiled a little. "I feel like my mom tried to control me " he said. ". I'm here with all of you. That's what matters."

Iris wanted to feel happy. She did not. There were still a lot of problems. Victoria was still there and she was not a nice person. The bad people from Project Elysium were still hiding.. The kids. All eight of them. Were hurt in ways that would take a long time to heal.

Then Dr. Elias Kane came in. He was in a wheelchair. He looked determined. "I have some news " he said. "I checked the kids DNA. They are all special. Hope and Aurora are really smart. Dawn can heal fast. The babies can talk to each other in a way.. Elias..." He stopped. "Elias remembers more than he said. He remembers the lady, Victoria. She told him he was special."

Elias started talking. "I did not want to scare anyone " he said. ". Grandma Victoria was mean. She said I could help her control the others."

Lila started crying. Noah crawled into Iriss lap. Iris and Lucien were sad. They did not know their son was carrying such a secret.

Lucien hugged Elias. "You are special Elias " he said. ". Not for her. For us. You protected your siblings. That makes you very brave."

then Dr. Soto got a message on her tablet. "Victoria is trying to take the kids " she said. "She wants to be their guardian.. She will give immunity to anyone who helps her."

The family was in danger. Sophia stepped forward. "I have something to say " she said. "When I was in the server room I found files on another kid. A boy. His name is Theo. He is six years old. He is Iris and Luciens son."

Iris felt like she was hit. Luciens hand was tight around hers.

Serena said, "I met him once. He looks like Lucien. Victoria has been raising him. She told him his parents did not want him."

The room was crazy. Everyone was. Crying.. In the middle of all the noise Lucien pulled Iris aside. He locked the door. Backed her against the wall. "I need you " he said. "I need to feel something."

They. It was like nothing else mattered. They forgot about all the stuff. They just loved each other.

The world did not go away. There was a knock on the door. Captain Reyes said, "Theo is here. Victoria brought him. She wants to talk to you."

Iris and Lucien got. Went to see Theo. He was a boy with dark hair and green eyes. He looked at them with hope and fear.

Victoria was there too. She was mean and cold. "My grandson " she said. "He wants to meet his family. On my terms."

The family was in a spot. Victoria wanted to control them.. Then Theo said something that changed everything. "You're my dad " he said to Lucien. "I remember your voice. You sang to me when I was sick."

Lucien hugged Theo. He was crying. The family was crying.

Then Victoria said something that made them all scared. "They're coming for us " she said. "The bad people. They want our kids. They want to use their bodies."

The family was, in danger.. Iris felt strong. She knew they would face whatever came next together.

Lucien kissed her. "We will face it as one " he said.

Iris knew they would be okay. They had each other.. They had their kids. They would build something strong.
