Hundred and fifty-two

Hundred and fifty-two
Angelina's POV

When I opened my eyes I was alone on the bed, Arnold wasn't lying beside me and I was still in the black dress I wore for the burial.
Edward Wolfe was dead, the very man who hated my existence and didn't want anything to do with me or close to his grandson was gone. I knew I should feel relief but I wasn't in fact, I was sad because he was the closest person to him.
He wasn't on good terms with his father and his grandfather had been the only person in the Wolfe family whom he approached.
I wondered where he was and what he was doing.
I picked up my phone from the bedside and dialed his number.
I frowned when he didn't pick, I swallowed a knot in my stomach and tried again yet still he didn't pick.
Okay, I was getting worried.
I dialed Marco's number and like hell he didn't pick up.
I climbed down the bed and was about to head out but the moment I opened the door I came face to face with him." Arnold?" He was wearing a black shirt with black pants. In his hand was a tray of breakfast enough for two." You want to eat at the dinning table?" He asked with a raised brow and I stepped aside to give him passage.
I didn't know what I was thinking but I was obviously worried.
" You okay?" He placed the tray on the bed and turned to me.
" With you by my side, I will always be okay." I didn't know but I guess men like him don't show emotions.
" Your grandfather was just buried,." I said but he didn't say anything and instead pulled me into his chest.
" You are worried about me?" He asked as if I wasn't supposed to." You were there for me when I didn't have anyone." I replied and he kissed the corner of my mouth.
" I will always be here for you." He promised.
He gave me a home when I thought I was alone. He let me live with him, he took care of me, and even enrolled me in school.
Every good experience I have had in my life was with him and it happened because of him.
He got me everything I wanted without complaining and I think that was what made me fall in love with him.
He might be the world's most ruthless man but to me, he was my savior.
He appeared when Cole died.
" You know you don't have to hide your pain from me." I said and he chuckled." He is gone but you are here and that means everything."
I opened my mouth to say something but his cell phone suddenly started ringing in his pocket.
He stepped back and picked up the call." I will meet you there." He ordered in his cold deep voice.
" And I want names, everyone involved." He said in a calm dangerouse voice that made me swallow.
" We should eat before you leave," I suggested and he nodded.
We ate breakfast together in the bedroom. He didn't say anything throughout that period and after taking a few bites he got up and grabbed a suit from the closet.
He walked over and kissed my forehead before leaving.
I swallowed the food in my mouth and turned to the closed door.
I went to the bathroom to take a shower and when I stepped out the tray was gone and the bed was made.
It must be one of the maids. The mansion has a lot of staff so I wasn't surprised.
I put on a white dress that barely settled under my knees.
I decided to step out for fresh air, the house seemed quieter than the last time I was here.
The thought of Edward made my stomach twist.
He was gone and was never coming back. He might not have been good to me but he was Arnold's grandfather and I respect that.
According to Arnold he was sick, years ago, and is now gone just like Cole.
I miss him sometimes and it hurts that I wouldn't be able to see him again so I understand what he might be going through. I have tried to call Katherine but her number was not going through.
I was worried about her, Edward was her grandmother too, and besides I haven't seen her since I got back.
I stepped down the stairs and my gaze settled on Elizabeth seated in the living room with a glass of wine and a lady helping her polish her nails.
" You are finally out of that room." She said as if she had been expecting me.
" It's good to see you again," I said, I haven't met anyone in the Wolfe family since I got back.
And I suddenly didn't feel good talking to her. We might not have anything going on between us but she was Andrea's mother.
" Three years and you look nothing like that innocent girl I first saw." She stared at me with a smile that felt like an insult." You look mature." She added as if she didn't expect to see me again.
" Well, it has been three years I couldn't be the same as before." I replied, not sure how my tone sounded because I suddenly couldn't stand her for some reason." That is so true." She nodded in agreement.
" It has been three years and we all thought you had left him for good?" That was expected but I didn't like it.
" Well, I'm back," I said in a cold tone and she moved her feet from the small table pausing the lady's work.
" I wouldn't advise you to come especially to him."
" Why, do you have a problem with that?" She smiled." You think I do?"
" I believe you do." My voice was firm. I didn't see her for who she was when I first met her.
" Do you know why you are bad for him?"
" I'm not bad for him," I told her in a stern tone but her words were obviously affecting me.
" You bring out the beast in him." I wasn't expecting that from her but I guess Arnold knew this side of her.
I remember he warned me to stay away from her and now I have a reason to do that.
" He is not a beast." At least not in my eyes.
" You know he is and I pray he doesn't kill you before you realize that." I narrowed my eyes because she sounded like a hater." Do you hate Arnold this much?" My question threw her off guard." I believe you do, you hate him." Was it because of Andrea?
" What do you want from him because I know he doesn't care whether you live or die?" Arnold didn't care about anyone in the family aside from his grandfather, maybe Katherine, and Nikolai.
" You are the worse step mother, Elizabeth." I said without holding back." I hope for your own good, you won't try anything."
I turned to leave but froze when I saw Davide, Arnold, and Nikolai standing at the door.
Marco and Antonio were there too!
