195-She Smells Like Yuna
195-She Smells Like Yuna
Kedron:
My father took Violet away with him, saying he needed to talk about some of the rules with her.
But I wasn’t comfortable. I needed to find Yuna and put an end to this before it escalated.
“Did you see that? Has your father gone mad? Does he no longer care that maybe this woman was the reason his maid died?” Lady Andrea spoke quickly, her tone more panicked than before.
She wasn’t the only one panicking. I was too. Violet was indeed a cunning woman, a snake. Someone I had taken too long to recognize.
If Yuna were here, she would have told me, ‘I said so.’
Lady Andrea stomped her foot and walked away when I didn’t respond.
But it was true. I was worried about what was happening.
As I began walking toward the exit, skipping the idea of rest and nearly losing my mind looking for Yuna, I heard someone call my name.
“Kedron.”
I turned around to make sure I heard it right. It was Sharlin, standing in the doorway of her room.
Denzel has left the castle again. I guess he really wanted to get rid of her but was stuck with her.
He seemed like a bad man too, for lying to her about his past.
Maybe in the future, he’ll find a better excuse to leave her, one that makes everyone side with him.
This time, everyone was convincing him to forgive her and apologize for hiding his own secrets.
“Yes,” I replied, watching her step closer.
“It’s hard for me to think my husband’s fated mate is also your fated mate.” She paused, glancing around to make sure no one was listening. “There’s something I think you should know,” she added, making my brows twitch.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Denzel has been acting strange. I think he might know where Yuna is.”
The way she said it made my body stiffen.
“I’m not saying this to cause a rift between you two, but I’m scared myself. After he left me that night at my father’s pack, he went missing for hours. When he returned, it was like he had lost all affection for me, unless he found it for someone else,” she whispered before stepping back and giving a small bow. “That’s all. I’ll go back to my room.”
She hurried away, but I stayed still, staring after her.
What if what she said was true? At this point, everyone was a suspect.
I turned and started to leave when I ran into my brother at the entrance. He was rushing inside when I blocked his way.
“What is it, Kedron? Haven’t you caused enough damage?”
He started throwing a tantrum almost instantly.
“Well, I thought we loved exposing each other’s secrets,” I remarked, reminding him of the time he told everyone about my relationship with Blaire.
“Don’t act like that was the reason you told my secret. You did it so I’d look as guilty as Sharlin, and people who were siding with me and urging me to leave Sharlin convinced me to give our relationship a chance since I was also wrong,” Denzel hissed, looking me straight in the eye.
“So you have her. Where did you keep her?” The minute I asked that, his expression changed, and for a split second I wanted to believe he wasn’t faking it.
“What?” he asked in confusion.
“You know Yuna is missing, right? And you have her,” I pressed.
He chuckled in disbelief.
“You’ve gone crazy, brother. I know she’s missing, and I have sent my warriors to look for her, but no, I don’t know where she is. I don’t have her. Who do you think I am?” He pointed at his chest. “Do you think you’re the only one who can love someone with pure intentions? That the rest of the world only loves in some aggressive way?” His words confused me.
“Weren’t you afraid of Yuna?” I asked, annoyed. He only rolled his eyes.
“Listen, I don’t know where she is. I don’t know who made you believe I had her. If I did, trust me, I wouldn’t be returning to the castle,” he said, waving a finger in my face.
My fist clenched. I was this close to beating him up when someone else arrived.
I rolled my eyes and stepped back from Denzel. It felt like I could not catch a break.
All I wanted was to find Yuna, but instead I kept running into these messy people.
“Hi. I hope I’m not bothering you,” Blaire said, her guards behind her, carrying gifts.
Every time Yuna and I were apart, others seemed to rush in, trying to ruin what we had.
Denzel looked at Blaire, gave her a quick glance, turned back to me, and started to chuckle.
“Look, your past is here,” he taunted before striding back inside the castle.
“What are you doing here, Blaire?” I asked, hands on my hips.
“I heard about Lord Whitlock, and I thought to pay him a visit,” she said, showing she had come prepared, a new haircut, a pretty dress, full makeup.
Even seeing her now sparked nothing in me. When she cheated, I thought everything had ended for me.
But then Yuna became close to my heart, and I realized how lucky I was that Blaire betrayed me.
If she hadn’t done that, I might not have known true love.
“Go ahead. He’s in his room,” I said, as I started to move past her.
As I hurried by, I caught a scent on her, and it felt so familiar, close to my heart. The scent of my beloved mate.
I noticed a smile forming on her lips. She probably didn’t realize why I was watching her.
It wasn’t intrigue, enthusiasm, or affection. Neither was it attraction.
It was something bigger than that, something that could change the way I thought.
Something that could stop my entire world from moving.
And only one question remained in my mind.
Why the hell did Blaire smell like Yuna?
