Chapter 32 In trouble
"Know where you belong, am not a whore like you," Finding it unbearable to control my anger, the words furiously escaped out of my mouth, sharp and biting like a dagger aimed straight at her heart. My voice trembled with rage, every syllable a strike fueled by all the humiliation I’d endured. The bitter taste of defiance burned in my throat.
"Have you just replied to me like that?" She sneered back, a mixture of shock and disbelief flashing across her perfectly painted face, as if I had shattered her fragile world by daring to defy her. Her eyes narrowed, venom dripping from her tone, making the cold room feel even colder.
"I can do more than that," I confidently hissed out, my voice trembling with a fierce determination I hadn’t known I possessed, every word a clenched fist in the fight for my own dignity.
"Take her right now back to her room," Alpha Xavier roared at the guards, his voice booming through the cold, stone corridors like thunder crashing down from the skies, reverberating in every corner with authority and fury.
"Keep on keeping me here and you will see the worst of me," I snarled at him too, every ounce of my spirit flaring with desperate rebellion, before the guards roughly dragged me away. Their hands were cold and unyielding on my arms, like shackles binding me to this nightmare.
As soon as the heavy door slammed shut behind us with a resounding thud, I dropped down on the bed, the worn mattress barely cushioning my falling weight. A loud, raw scream tore itself from deep within me, echoing off the barren walls, a sound so primal, so full of rage and despair, that it seemed to shake the very air. This is what I really hated , the suffocating feeling of being trapped, powerless, like a caged animal. I didn’t want him as my mate, not for heaven's sake.
"Better tell that Alpha of yours too, let...." I instantly trailed off mid-sentence when the door burst open out of the blue. He was here again. My heart thudded painfully in my chest, cold dread crawling like icy fingers up my spine.
"So it seems as though you forgot the rules," he burst out, stepping into the dim room with an imposing presence that swallowed the light. His eyes burned with unreadable intensity, dark and dangerous, as he closed the door behind him with a slow, deliberate motion.
"All you forgot was that am an omega, not like you upper class....mother fucker." I was hurting, my voice rough with pain, and the tears threatened to spill, but I pushed through the burning ache and yelled at him with every ounce of strength I had left.
"AMARA! ...." His voice was sharp but faltered slightly, a crack in his otherwise iron control.
"You really thought that I could stand there and watch that bitch publicly humiliate me? I have had enough and I don’t care what you do to me this time" I shouted louder than him, desperation bleeding into my voice like poison.
"You really worse than what I thought you were." In a split second, I found myself slammed against the cold, unforgiving wall as usual, his hands tightly securing my wrists. His grip was like iron, cold and unyielding, crushing but not quite breaking me.
"I don’t care about the way you were replying to your stupid father but here in my presence, you do have to watch how to speak. I won’t hesitate to break your flimsy neck the next time you disrespect me. I will do it within a second," he growled angrily, his face inches from mine, his eyes dark pools of threat, filled with menace and something darker, something that sent shivers down my spine.
"You can do it right now, why do you keep me with just threatening me?" I provoked him, voice steady despite the pounding of my heart and the fire raging inside me. "Why would I do it right now? There are many ways I can hurt you than giving you a quick death," he chuckled, a low, dangerous sound that slithered through the air and sent chills down my spine, making my skin crawl.
"I want to first fuck the brains out of you and give birth to my heir. That’s the only reason why you right now alive," he said with a mischievous grin curling his cruel lips, a twisted promise of pain and possession.
"That’s your role in my pack, my surrogate not my mate. You don’t even deserve to be my luna," he hissed out before throwing me down on the bed like I was nothing more than a ragdoll. Though I tried to stay strong, his words broke something inside me, a fragile shard of hope shattering, and tears began to fall down my cheeks. He said I didn’t deserve to be his luna , only a sex slave, a tool for his ambitions just like he told me at first.
"Tonight you were supposed to have a formal dinner with my family and other guests, but since you decided to break the rules, you will be left in isolation and locked up in the room and I don’t want to see you with Lyra" he spoke coldly, eyes flicking with cruel satisfaction as he watched me stand up on the bed, defiance flickering like a dying flame in my eyes.
"I don’t fucking care," I hissed out, even though the tears blurred my vision and my throat burned from crying.
"You bitch, learn manners." Within minutes, I was pushed against the wall again, the impact knocking the breath from my lungs.
"This is just the beginning. You gonna keep doing only this till my death," I smirked at him, fire lighting up my chest as I saw his eyes glow fiercely, his control slipping. He was losing control, his beast threatening to surface, a dangerous predator barely held back.
"I’m really trying my best to control myself. Don’t create the beast out of me, Mara," he breathed the words with a strange mix of anger and something softer, almost desperate, as if pleading with himself as much as with me.
He gripped both my hands and pinned them above my head. It was my turn to feel puzzled and scared. Moments ago, he was harsh like an angry wolf; now, he was breathing hard in the crook of my neck, sniffing me like some possessed creature, his breath hot and heavy.
"What is wrong with him?" I wondered silently, heart racing.
"Tell me once you done," finding it unbearable, I spoke out, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I regret why the moon goddess of all women chose you as my mate," disgust twisted his handsome features before he threw me again on the bed. I said no more, tears streaming freely down my face, soaking the pillow beneath me. He left without throwing another glance.
"That son of a bitch."
Pushing his words to the back of my mind, I took a deep breath, wiped my tears with trembling hands, and walked over to the adjoining doors. Without a second thought, I started punching the door hard, knuckles raw and aching.
"I’ll break this door if you don’t let me out."
"I’m gonna kill myself," I screamed loudly, rage and hatred boiling inside me like a volcano about to erupt.
I screamed for minutes, the sound hollow and desperate in the empty room, but the guards outside burst out laughing, their cruel jeers slicing through my pain like knives. Helpless and weak, I slipped down the wall, tears streaming uncontrollably.
No one in this world cared about me. I was fated to be mocked and used by harsh men, a helpless omega, just like I was in my previous pack.
"Stop laughing at me, you fools!" I screamed again, fury igniting through my veins like wildfire. Suddenly, their laughter died. The door flung open. Alpha Xavier was here again, probably ready to kill me. Recalling his cruelty, I crawled back to the bed, heart pounding like a frantic drum.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t him who entered , it was a maid, carrying a tray of food, her soft eyes filled with quiet sympathy, like a fragile candle flickering in a storm.
An innocent omega, just like me.
Noticing she was a maid, so quiet and fragile, I instantly felt a flicker of hope, a small spark in the darkness. Maybe this was my chance.
"I wouldn’t advise that, dear," she said gently, reading my thoughts. She was too innocent for this world, trying to stop me from making a terrible mistake.
I pitied her."What’s your name?", I asked her. "Whitney", She replied as she humbly put the tray down.
"Okay Whitney mind your own business, bitch," I hissed, ignoring the concern in her eyes then I ran past her.
Within minutes, I was down the gigantic stairs, my heart pounding in my ears like thunder. The guards were running after me, their heavy footsteps echoing behind, a relentless drum of pursuit.
But I was damn fast. I ran, fast as my legs could carry me, breath ragged and wild, not daring to look back. I didn’t know where I was running to, only that I had to get away, had to escape this nightmare.
Suddenly, I froze. I was in the dining room. The guests, elders, all sat eating, frozen in shock like statues. And there, looming like a dark storm, was the angry Alpha.
I spun on my heel and ran back toward the guards, their faces just as shocked as mine. I had interrupted an important dinner. To make matters worse, I was the Alpha’s mate.
Had he told them yet?
"Leave her. I’m gonna deal with her," Alpha Leander growled, voice low and deadly as I ran back toward the gigantic stairs.
Tonight, I was going to be killed.
