Chapter 237 Liked everything
Chapter 237 Liked everything
Of course, my time here didn't mean anything, and I knew that Andrey Volkov and I had an arrangement. It was purely physical. I could get that through my head.
The ballet was more important to me. My performances were what I needed to focus on more than anything. I had done that before, and I could do that again. It didn't matter what I did on the side, I could leave here with the money and get on with my life.
Once downstairs in the kitchen, the lights automatically flickered on at my presence. It startled me and I sucked in a gasp at the sudden light but released the breath I held when I confirmed again that I was alone. Still, a strange sensation prickled the back of my neck—the kind of instinct that made me think of being watched, even when no one was there. I looked over the black cabinets with gold fixtures and my eyes caught sight of the silver key resting on the corner of the island.
I huffed but added it to my keyring with my apartment key and a key to my Papa's home, even though the house had been sold a year ago.
My early morning appointment was at the clinic near the hospital. Once I locked the door to Volkov's home, I stepped down to see a black car waiting there. I froze and my eyes widened to see Antonio jumping from the car and racing towards me.
"Good morning, Miss Hayes!" He opened the back door for me and stared at me, waiting for me to climb in.
"Um, morning," I blinked. "I'm sorry but what are you doing here?"
"Oh, did Mr. Volkov not tell you?"
"He asked me to take you this morning," Antonio's smile faltered a little as I continued to stand there.
"Well, I was going to walk." I pointed down the street in the direction of the clinic.
"Mr. Volkov really wanted me to drive you. He made his instructions clear, Miss Hayes." Antonio looked around the street and spoke low, his sharp gaze flicking to the shadows as if he half-expected something to lunge from them. His nostrils flared faintly, like he was scenting the air.
"Can't you just tell him you drove me around?" I wanted to argue. Not with Antonio. But with Volkov. "Plus, didn't I tell you to call me Elena?" I added but in a simple voice.
"Yes, you did." He sputtered. "But I can't lie to Andrey Volkov. He is a good boss and I don't want to disappoint him. I will really have a bad day if I don't take you." His tone dropped, and I wondered if he meant a bad day in the normal sense or something else.
"Ugh, fine." I relented. "But I'm only going so you have a good day. Not because Volkov wanted it."
"I can leave with that," He beamed. With the car door opened wide, I climbed in. Antonio got back in the front and pulled the sleek car into the street. "You want me to grab you some breakfast or coffee while you're at your, uh, appointment?"
"No, thank you, Antonio. I really would prefer to walk after. You can go about your day after dropping off," I didn't know what a day in the life of Andrey Volkov's driver was like, but I knew it wouldn't involve me.
"Mr. Volkov instructed me to take you to the studio for your practice after." He looked at me through the rearview mirror, his eyes glinting strangely, like an animal catching the light.
"I have something else I need to do before then." I softened my tone. "Alone." A forced smile appeared on my face.
"I understand. I understand." He paused. "It's just that, I never seen Andrey like this with any girlfriend before."
Girlfriend? Is that what Antonio thinks? What we're telling people?
To some end, it made sense. We can't tell the world that one of the richest men in the big city owns a Prima Ballerina. Or that one of the most feared Mafia billionaire was keeping a human in his house. It wasn't the most legal arrangement.
I couldn't exactly tell the driver that Volkov was only treating me differently because he was paying a lot of money to have me. I was less of a girlfriend and more of an asset.
"Well, that's fun." I mumbled to myself.
"He doesn't normally insist this much," Antonio continued. "But, eh, a pretty dancer like you isn't like any other woman. Can't say I blame him." His words seemed casual, but I swore his tone carried a reverence .
He was wrong. Antonio was very wrong.
If he asked Luke, he would know that I was just an expensive fuck toy.
"Thanks for the ride, Antonio. Have a good day." I opened the door and stepped out of the car before he could rush to open it for me. He looked disappointed as he drove away, but I kept walking.
It was still so early the doctor's office had just opened their door for the day. The right strings were pulled to get me in and tested so early in the day. If I wanted that money in my account, I needed my test to come back negative. I was sure it would be if Volkov was clean, and he was the only one who…
My mind raced with the images of our nights together. Those times when I could feel the full length of him deeply seated inside of me, pushing me closer and closer to the edge of a precipice, where he pushed me over with ease.
Volkov had finished in me, and then he had…
My heart beat like a hummingbird's wing in my chest.
God, he had watched it leak out of me. That stupid, erotic deep voice had sounded so appealing when he said the sight of his cum dripping out was hot. Those dark eyes had enjoyed watching it.
And I had liked hearing him speak to me the way that he had last night. Praising me during something so lewd.
It was gross.
I had liked it.
"Hayes?" A nurse called my name, and it jolted me back to reality. I felt as if I was walking through a fog, and it lasted through my entire exam.
When I left the appointment, I was glad to see Antonio had listened and wasn't outside waiting for me just because it's what Volkov wanted.
Not everything revolved around Volkov. Although as powerful as he was, I got the feeling he might think it did.
Doing my best to push those thoughts of him to the back of my mind, I walked to the hospital, enjoying the fresh, early air and tuning out the sound of traffic.
