Chapter 235 Only want her

Chapter 235 Only want her
"Tell me about the….." The words slipped free, and I bit my tongue. I didn’t need to look at him, to feel Ricky’s eyes widening and staring holes into the side of my face.

"Oh, miss Elena, do you have something you want to share?" He purred.

"God, no," I chuckled out on an exhale.

"You know, I did think you had a little glow about you. You getting some action off the stage lately?" He waggled his brows suggestively.

"Shut up, Ricky. You know I don’t need anyone when I have my fabulous princely dance partner." I leaned into his side and batted my eyelashes at him.

"I know, I’m like the best prince NYC has ever seen, but I also know I’m not the reason you have that little I-got-laid twinkle in your eye." He sucked his teeth.

"Well, I certainly don’t have that."

Ricky had never said that to me the morning after any of my meetings before.

Ricky looked around, watching the other dancers start to clear away the table to leave. "Look, I know some of the other girls are dying for a reason to knock you down, but you don’t have to hide from me. I’ve always had your back, Elena. You can talk to me, if you need it."

In that moment I wanted to break down. To tell him everything. Just let the floodgates open and tell Ricky the whole story. I felt that burning behind my eyes, tears wanting to be set free but I bit down on the inside of my cheek, hard.

"I know, Ricky. If I had anything to talk about, I would let you know." I held his gaze for a moment, trying to show him genuine sincerity.

Ricky rolled his eyes, calling my bluff but not pushing the subject further. "Come on, Swan Queen. Let’s get on with the show."

With that I took a deep breath and pushed it all down into the darkest pit I could. No feeling and no thoughts or worries. I couldn’t worry about Papa or my next interaction with Andrey Volkov.

I had to go on stage, and I had to transform. I had to move and breathe the dance and become what everyone wanted me to be.

I was New York’s top ballerina. I was Odette. I was the Swan Queen.

This was all I ever wanted to be.

A dancer.
|ANDREY VOLKOV’S POV|

Every pack territory had a different rhythm on Fridays. Humans in the city offices talked about their plans for the weekend, extravagant dinners, bright lights, or family trips. My own employees joined in that chatter, buzzing like bees eager for their brief escape.

Fridays never made much of a difference to me. Not after all the nights and weekends I brought work back to the mansion or slept on the leather couch in my office just to finish negotiations. I didn’t get the title of Alpha by taking weekends off. Not in this world, not in the one hidden behind it.

But this one was different. Now I knew that tonight, there would be a woman under my roof. A woman as beautiful as any star, with skin I was dying to taste. Thinking of burying myself between her thighs was the only thing dragging me through the dull hours of the day. It didn’t matter that she might get back late after her performance. I could wait for her. Wolves knew how to wait for what was theirs.

My wolf stirred restlessly at the thought, pacing in the back of my mind.

I caught myself checking my watch again. A groan slipped free as I realized how slowly the time was crawling. For the first time in years, it felt like a Friday. A day worth wanting. A day with someone to look forward to.

The wolf in me wanted her fed, sheltered, claimed. The man in me fought to keep the beast’s instincts from clawing their way out. Should I have Antonio, bring dinner for her? Or perhaps I should prepare it myself. It had been years since I’d sat across a table and shared a meal with anyone.

A knock on my door broke through my thoughts. My gaze snapped up, the wolf in me flashing annoyance at being disturbed. Harriet leaned in the doorway with a lewd smile, biting her bottom lip as though she had some right to tempt me. I instantly regretted not working from the estate today.

She’d grown bold since the last time I let her crawl under my desk. Boldness without rank was a dangerous thing in a wolf, and I had tolerated too much from her already. Harriet had learned quickly how far her curves carried her in this world. She was useful as an assistant when there wasn’t a cock in her mouth.

But now, knowing who I would be going to, there wasn’t even a stir of interest when she sauntered forward. My wolf rumbled his disapproval, a low growl in the cage of my chest. She was a distraction, and worse, filth compared to the purity of the bond pulling me toward Elena.

"Hi, Alpha. Volkov," she whispered. "You look awfully bored all alone in here."

"Certainly." My voice came out sharp, clipped like an Alpha warning off a subordinate.

"Do you not have anything to work on?" I let my expression harden, pulling the mask of a cold boss who had no time for such games. She needed to recognize the steel in my tone before I lost patience.

"Well, sir, it’s nearly the end of the day and I’ve worked so hard." She lingered on the word, letting her eyes travel down my chest toward what she thought she’d find beneath my belt.

"If you don’t have anything else to do, leave for the day. I’m very busy and I won’t be disturbed." My fingers tapped on the keyboard, mimicking the distraction of answering emails, but my wolf prowled behind my ribs, one step from baring his teeth.

"Are you sure? You seem a bit stressed." She leaned forward, hands on my desk, pushing her cleavage up like an offering. Her breasts were larger than Elena’s, fuller, but I didn’t care.

Instead, I thought of Elena. Of how her breasts fit perfectly in my palms, molded to me. How her rose-pink nipples would look under my mouth. My wolf snarled with hunger, not for Harriet, but for the little human who didn’t yet understand why every instinct in me screamed that she was mine.

The thoughts finally woke my cock, but I frowned at myself. Even my body knew the truth Harriet was not what stirred me.

"Even if I am stressed, it’s alright. I want to be alone, Harriet." I clipped each word like a command. Her smile faltered, and she stiffened before stepping back.

My wolf’s hackles smoothed as she left. He didn’t want her either. Only Elena. Always Elena.
