Chapter 222 Everything is great
Chapter 222 Everything is great
ANDREY’S POV
I left her stunned on my bed and couldn't stop myself from chuckling down the stairs. The look on her face having a second orgasm stolen from her and then being told I was going to ruin her tonight was profoundly perfect. A great way to start my day.
The wolf beneath my skin stirred in satisfaction, it liked the power, the scent of her still clinging to me, sweet and human and maddening.
The corridors of the packhouse were quiet, warriors moving about with respectful nods as I descended toward the council chamber. Even the low-ranking wolves lowered their gaze, sensing the Alpha’s mood thrumming through the bond.
To be fair, if I didn't have this wretched meeting with the elders of my pack, I would have stayed in bed and buried my face between her legs and helped her to find the second climax. But the anticipation today would make it so much better and finally I got my hands on her again. Elena was dancing through my mind when I got to the office.
My pack warriors looked at me a bit oddly as I walked into my headquarters and I would never know it was because of the unusual smile on my face as I walked in. I had never smiled this a lot. The wolf inside me was calm for once, pleased, as though marking her with my scent this morning had tamed its restlessness.
Most pack members were in the training grounds and I was grateful for that. Less people to get in my way as I rushed to get out of here and back to Elena after the meeting.
My boots echoed softly across the marble floor as I strode toward my office at the far end of the corridor, the heavy oak door marked with my insignia.
Inside, the room, I moved behind my desk and opened my laptop, scanning through the reports and emails from the patrol captains , border updates, trade negotiations with the Northern Pack, a complaint about rogue sightings near the riverbanks.
Then came the knock. Sharp. Too sharp.
“Enter,” I said without looking up.
The door opened, and Harriet stepped in heels clicking, perfume hitting my senses like poison. I didn’t have to look at her to know what she wanted. Her heartbeat quickened the moment my gaze flicked up, and she dropped her eyes, pretending to fix the files she was carrying.
“Alpha Volkov,” she greeted softly. “The catering for the Gala is confirmed. The decorators from Silvermoon will be arriving in the afternoon, as you requested. Also, the musicians have sent their deposit confirmation.”
Her voice dripped with that same sultry tone that had once amused me but now grated.
“Good,” I said curtly. “Make sure the warriors handling security know that the event grounds are restricted to my direct command.”
She nodded quickly. “Of course, Alpha.”
“Anything else?” I didn’t look up again.
“Well…” She hesitated, stepping closer. “If you’d like, I can stay back after the meeting with the elders and help you with...”
The growl came before the words. Deep, resonant, vibrating through the air like thunder.
“Leave,” I ordered, voice low, unyielding. “Now.”
Her throat bobbed. The blood drained from her face, and she bowed her head quickly, muttering, “Yes, Alpha,” before hurrying out, shutting the door behind her.
Silence returned for a second.
Then another knock sounded. Heavier this time.
I leaned back in my chair, jaw tightening. “Come in.”
The door opened again, and this time it wasn’t Harriet. It was Elder John, followed by Elder Marek and Dimitri, my uncle , all members of the council.
John’s eyes were sharp.
He didn’t bow. None of them did. But they stood with the kind of rigid respect that bordered on fear.
“Andrey,” John began, his tone careful but firm, “we need to speak about… the human.”
I arched an eyebrow. “Elena?”
"She is called Elena", I added rudely.
A muscle in his jaw twitched. “Yes. The one you’ve been… seen with. She stays in your wing of the house in the city. The pack is talking, Andrey. The council is talking.”
“Let them talk,” I replied evenly, turning my gaze back to the glowing laptop screen as if the matter were beneath my notice.
Marek stepped forward, his tone lower, carrying that hint of judgment only the old dared. “It isn’t that simple, Alpha. You know our laws. No human has ever stood beside the Alpha as Luna. It’s dangerous. They are fragile. Weak. She cannot protect herself, and she cannot protect your bloodline.”
My hands stilled on the desk.
The silence that followed wasn’t loud , it was heavy.
When I finally looked up, my eyes were cold. “You think I need her to fight for me?”
“That’s not the point,” interjected quickly, his voice tense. “The pack will not accept her. You risk unrest among the ranks. The Beta council fears...”
“The Beta council fears me,” I cut him off, rising slowly from my chair.
The air shifted. The wolf inside me surged closer to the surface, gold bleeding faintly into my eyes. My voice dropped to a dark growl, steady but laced with quiet threat.
“Do you think any of them would dare question my choice? My Luna?”
“She is human, Andrey!” Marek’s voice rose despite himself, the tremor betraying his fear. “Humans don’t belong here. They don’t survive here!”
I rounded the desk and stopped in front of him. Close enough for him to smell the restrained fury on my breath.
“Then she survives because I say she does,” I said coldly. “And if anyone in this pack forgets that…” I leaned in, my voice soft, dangerous, “I’ll remind them what happens when wolves challenge their Alpha.”
The power rolled off me in a palpable wave, an Alpha command that pressed against the air, making the temperature drop. Marek bowed his head, the fight leaving him instantly.
Even John’s eyes flickered with submission before he caught himself.
Dimitri was the only one who held my gaze. “You’re playing with fire, Andrey. You can’t protect her from everything. The pack will not forgive weakness.”
I smirked. “Good thing I don’t have any.”
The silence stretched for a moment.
Dimitri finally spoke, voice lower. “You can have her for now. But know this , the council will never bless a human Luna. If you continue down this path, the Elders’ Circle will intervene.”
I gave a slow, amused chuckle that didn’t reach my eyes. “Then they’ll have to live long enough to try.”
Dimitri exhaled sharply through his nose, muttering a curse in Russian under his breath.
When the elders turned to leave, none dared to look me in the eye again. The scent of their fear lingered long after the door shut behind them.
For a long moment, I stood by the window, watching the wolves training in the field beyond. The air outside was thick with dominance, but mine ruled them all.
My reflection caught in the glass and saw my eyes glowing gold. The wolf beneath my skin whispered one truth, raw and certain.
She’s ours.
And not even the gods or the council would take her away.
