Chapter 127 Do You Really Have to Have Her?

After hanging up the phone, Charles called the servants over again and asked in detail about everything Olivia had done today. He even went to the bedroom himself to check the closet, to see if any of her clothes had been packed away.

"Mr. Green, Ms. Smith had nothing unusual today, just like before."

The clothes in the closet were all there, and all the suitcases in the house were accounted for.

Charles clenched his fist and told himself:

'Don't overthink it. She just went out like usual. Maybe she's just having too much fun or something and came back later than expected.'

She didn't run away.

But...

Her phone was off...

She had been unusually proactive before, looking like she really wanted to settle down with him...

She...

All of this could be considered unusual.

But...

Charles kept pacing back and forth in the living room.

He felt extremely irritated inside. He wanted to light a cigarette to calm himself down, but his hand holding the lighter kept shaking so much that he couldn't even light it.

In frustration, he threw the lighter across the room.

Rhys happened to be walking in just then.

Seeing a small object flying toward his forehead, he instinctively tilted his head to the side. After dodging it, he looked closely and realized it was a lighter.

He looked gloomily at Charles, who was standing in the living room on the edge of rage, and walked over carefully to report what he had found:

"Mr. Green, Ms. Smith left Silverlight City by car yesterday at 3 PM, heading toward Border Ridge City, but..."

He lowered his head even more, nervously saying the rest.

"Our people weren't following Ms. Smith, and Ms. Smith's phone is off, so we can't track her location. We've... temporarily lost track of Ms. Smith's whereabouts."

Charles gripped the unlit cigarette tightly.

He looked at the view outside the door, silent for a long while, then asked: "We've been getting along really well lately. She seemed to be in a good mood. She's just temporarily away, not running away, right?"

Rhys kept his head down, saying nothing.

In his view, Olivia had run away.

Her previous obedience was just to temporarily fool Charles and make it easier for her to escape.

She wanted to leave Charles at all times. When she had the chance to escape, why wouldn't she?

Any normal person would run.

But he didn't dare say this answer out loud.

Charles knew it too, but he still held onto a sliver of hope—hoping that Olivia had seen some of his sincerity and wanted to stay and live a good life with him.

The living room fell into a deathly silence.

Rhys kept his head down, not daring to breathe.

A servant had planned to come out but, sensing the strange atmosphere in the living room, fled back to their room.

After a long time, Charles spoke: "Deploy everyone you can. Go search. I don't care what methods you use; I want her back."

"Yes."

Rhys responded and hurried away.

At that moment, he didn't care what Charles was asking him to do.

He just wanted to leave that living room where the oppressive atmosphere felt like it could drown someone.

Only Charles remained in the huge living room.

He didn't pace anymore, nor did he rage. Instead, he sat on the sofa, going over every detail of his relationship with Olivia again and again.

Finally, he asked himself:

Do you really have to have her?

Have you really fallen in love with Olivia?

Charles couldn't figure out the answer right away.

He couldn't even define what love meant for the moment.

But he was certain that he didn't want Olivia to leave his side right now.

When sleeping at night, he wanted to hold her. When eating, he wanted to eat with her.

When coming home at night, he wanted to see that beautiful face.

Even if it was a cold face.

Many times, Olivia made him angry, made him think that he might as well just kill this woman and be done with it—out of sight, out of mind.

But as soon as that thought came up, his heart would ache terribly.

He couldn't bear to.

Just like now, thinking about all these messy things, he couldn't help but wonder.

Maybe she didn't run away at all. Maybe she just encountered some danger and couldn't come back.

Where is she now?

Is anyone bullying her?

It's so late, has she eaten?

Could she really have been bullied to the point where she can't come back or even make a phone call?

Charles's heart grew restless again.

He suddenly stood up from the sofa, strode out of the living room, got in his car, and left Serenity Estates.

He had to search for her himself.

Charles followed the information Rhys had provided earlier and drove toward Border Ridge City.

He drove from dawn to dusk, then from dusk to dawn again.

Along the way, he didn't eat a bite of food or drink a drop of water.

As if by being this stubborn, he would definitely find her.

On the road, he also wondered if this might be another carefully planned murder attempt by Olivia targeting him.

After all, she had already done it once before at the moat.

That time, if it weren't for the ambulance she had called in advance, waiting nearby, he really would have died.

But...

No matter what was really going on this time, he could only find out by finding her first.

Throughout the journey, Charles stayed in constant contact with Rhys so he could relay any news immediately.

Several business calls came in during this time, but he ignored them all, letting them disconnect automatically.

At this moment, his heart and mind were completely filled with Olivia.

Before finding Olivia, he couldn't do anything else.

Twenty hours after Olivia's disappearance, Rhys stayed by Charles's side. Seeing his cracked lips, he couldn't help but advise:

"Mr. Green, everyone is out looking for Ms. Smith. I'm sure there will be news soon. Please rest for a while. As soon as there's any news, I'll report to you immediately."

Charles ignored him: "Keep searching."

After a pause, he asked again: "What about Olivia's parents? Are we still watching them?"

As long as he kept a close eye on Quincy and Theodora, he didn't believe Olivia could really get away.

He had specifically investigated Olivia before and knew she once had a brother who died in a car accident in his twenties.

Quincy and Theodora had already experienced the pain of losing a son. As their only daughter left in this world, Olivia definitely wouldn't stand by and watch Quincy and Theodora face danger.
