Chapter 172: Grand Finale
Chapter 172: Grand Finale
Kirk's expression was complicated. After Dwayne's actions were exposed, he really didn't know what face to make when dealing with Alexander. The winery incident had already brought back bad memories for him, but thankfully it turned out Alexander wasn't behind it.
Dwayne's methods were truly chilling.
Kirk sighed. No matter what, he had to thank Alexander for giving his son justice.
"Mr. Kensington, thank you." He paused, his gaze moving between Alexander and Sophia. "Treat her well."
"Mr. Clark, you're too kind." Alexander met his eyes. "I will."
Kirk nodded, a relieved smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "As long as you two are happy, that's all that matters."
"I'm getting old now. Whenever you come back to Emerald Harbor, you must visit me often." Kirk said. "Sophia, if you want to return to Emerald Harbor, the entire Clark Group is yours. If you're willing, I'll announce it to the media. If you don't want that, we can just keep things simple and quiet. As long as I can see you often, I'll be content."
"I appreciate the thought." Sophia smiled. "I'll come visit you often. If there's anything I can help with, I definitely will, but I'm afraid I can't handle managing the group."
Kirk nodded, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes spreading as the heavy weight on his heart finally lifted.
Two months later.
Jack proposed to Victoria at Scent Memories, making it to Emerald Harbor's trending topics and causing quite a stir. The Foster family and the Grant family reconciled, but Jack and Victoria decided to hold their wedding in Silvermoon City.
After the news got out, Alexander and Sophia received calls from the couple.
On the phone, Jack asked them to be best man and maid of honor, his voice unable to hide his silly happiness. Alexander agreed, and after hanging up, he turned to look at Sophia.
"Should we also...?"
"No need," Sophia seemed to guess what he wanted to say and quickly cut him off. "Just being best man and maid of honor is fine. No need to go through all that trouble again. We've both been married a few times already."
Alexander's eyes dimmed slightly. "Alright."
On the wedding day, the venue was beautifully decorated.
Victoria wore a wedding dress, her eyes sparkling and looking absolutely beautiful. Sophia appeared as the maid of honor, wearing a light pink dress and holding a bouquet, watching Victoria walk from the end of the corridor.
Victoria smiled at Sophia, then walked up to Jack. Their eyes met, focused and filled with smiles.
"You look beautiful." Jack said softly. "I keep feeling like we've been through this scene many years ago."
"Talking nonsense again." Victoria teased quietly. "What's the difference between earlier or later?"
Jack laughed, his handsome face making Victoria's heart beat a little faster.
The host's voice rang out. The two exchanged vows and rings, looking very happy. Some guests had come from Emerald Harbor, while others were locals from Silvermoon City who came to watch. They chatted and laughed, some even moved to tears.
Alexander stood in the best man's position, looking deeply at Sophia. She happened to turn around, and their eyes met. She raised an eyebrow, he curved his lips slightly, and soon they both looked away in perfect understanding.
"I do." Victoria's voice came through clearly.
Jack and she interlaced their fingers and kissed. Applause erupted below. The sunlight was warm and gentle. Jack and Victoria had finally come together again.
The next day, the day after the wedding.
Sophia was taken by Alexander to the mountaintop.
Silvermoon City in the early morning was still covered in a light mist. In the distance, snow-capped mountains reflected the golden sunlight, beautiful like a dream.
Just as Sophia was about to ask what he was up to now, the next second, a huge hot air balloon slowly rose before her eyes.
She froze.
"You...?"
Alexander smiled, took her hand, and said softly, "Let's go up and see."
As the hot air balloon slowly left the ground, the wind of Silvermoon City blew past their ears.
The entire city gradually became smaller. Churches, lakes, mountains full of flowers, and lights turning on in the distance—all spread out like a painting.
Sophia leaned over the edge, her eyes lighting up bit by bit.
"So beautiful."
Alexander stood behind her, looking at her profile. He had never been someone who liked romance. He used to think these things were meaningless.
But later he discovered that if the person was Sophia, he was willing to give her all the cheesy yet grand romance.
The wind tousled Sophia's long hair. She turned her head and asked, "When did you prepare this?"
"The day you said weddings were troublesome, I started thinking about it." Alexander chuckled softly. "I had to find a way to make up for the regrets, right?"
Sophia pressed her lips together and suddenly became quiet.
The hot air balloon slowly rose, and the whole world seemed to stand still.
At this moment, Alexander suddenly took out a necklace from his pocket. The silver chain glimmered slightly in the morning light, with a moon-shaped gemstone hanging in the center.
Sophia was stunned. "What's this?"
"I bought it in Silvermoon City a long time ago, probably on your third day here." Alexander said seriously. "They say it can bless people in love to stay happy forever."
"You believe in these things?" Sophia said in surprise, though warmth inexplicably surged in her heart.
Alexander lowered his head with a slight smile. He actually never believed in these things.
But that day when he passed by the jewelry store, he still stood in the crowd and waited in line for a long time. Just because someone said it was very effective. And he really wanted to try.
Alexander raised his hand and gently put the necklace on her neck.
The cool sensation fell, and Sophia suddenly couldn't speak.
Alexander looked down at her, his eyes full of deep affection. "Sophia."
"What?"
"Thank you for being willing to give me a chance, for being willing to love me and be loved by me."
Sophia blinked, her nose suddenly feeling a bit sour.
She had known Alexander for quite a while now, had seen him cold, sharp, and aloof.
Had also seen him lose control, obsessive, and in complete disarray.
But only now did she finally feel that the Alexander before her had truly learned how to love.
She suddenly reached out to hug him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Alexander."
"Hmm?"
"Actually, not having a wedding doesn't matter. I didn't really care about that incident."
Alexander chuckled softly. "I know."
"But I still want to give you the best."
The wind blew from high above, and the hot air balloon rose higher and higher.
The distant snow mountains merged with the sea of clouds. When the sunlight poured down, the entire world became strikingly bright.
Sophia looked up at him. "Then let me tell you something too."
"What?"
"I'm very happy right now."
Alexander's gaze paused slightly. The next second, he lowered his head and kissed her.
The sound of wind, the morning light, the distant bells—all became distant at this moment.
After a long journey of twists and turns, they finally had their own perfect ending.
