Chapter 192 Mail

Chapter 192 Mail

Just then, Zack knocked and came in, holding a document with a somewhat strange expression on his face.

"Ms. Spencer, our investment department has just received an email. K Group has officially submitted a cooperation proposal."

Catherine's hands paused on the keyboard. Hearing this, a hint of confusion appeared in her eyes.

"A proposal?"

"Yes." Zack opened the document and indicated to the name at the bottom. "It's signed by their new Asia-Pacific President, Henry Phillips."

He hesitated for a moment, then added.

"He just arrived in Emerald City three days ago, and he's been keeping quite a low profile."

Catherine swiped across the tablet screen, bringing up the information Zack had just sent—a file clearly outlining Henry’s details.

"This guy is really strange. He looks pretty capable, so why would he suddenly do something like kidnapping?"

Zack leaned closer and lowered his voice. “Ms. Spencer, his background is completely clean. We haven’t found anything suspicious. Either someone wiped it, or it's genuine."

Catherine closed the tablet. Her expression didn't change much as she nodded slightly.

"Got it."

Just as she finished speaking, the office door was pushed open and Alexander walked in.

He looked over the documents, then stepped behind Catherine and rested his hand on the back of her chair. "There's a charity gala tonight. Come with me."

Catherine looked up at him, a trace of confusion on her face.

"Hiding isn't going to work at this point."

Alexander's voice was heavy. "He'll be there tonight too. It's a good chance for us to check him out."

At eight o'clock that evening, at the convention center, there were many seats - everyone would probably be together.

Catherine walked into the banquet hall on Alexander's arm, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

Catherine ignored the stares, glass of champagne in hand, as she swept her gaze across the room. She quickly locked onto a man standing amid the crowd.

He looked pretty much like his photo—very young, handsome features, wearing glasses, looking quite refined.

The man turned his head, and their eyes met across the space. A flicker of surprise crossed his face, but he quickly smiled at the person beside him and began walking toward them, wine glass in hand.

"Mr. Russell, Ms. Spencer." The man walked up to them with a perfectly measured smile on his face, actively extending his hand. "I've heard so much about you. I'm Henry Phillips."

Alexander didn't shake his hand. He just pulled Catherine closer to his side and looked at him calmly.

Catherine's gaze fell on Henry's outstretched hand, and a slight smile curved her lips. "Mr. Phillips, nice moves."

Henry acted as if he didn't understand, quietly withdrew his hand, adjusted his glasses, and smiled slightly.

"You must be mistaken. Some of our previous management behaved rather roughly and caused you trouble. I'm very sorry about that. I'm mainly here to clear up the misunderstanding between us."

His words were airtight, completely distancing himself from the situation, as if he had nothing to do with those kidnappers.

Catherine laughed coldly. "Your sincerity is letting the kidnappers walk out of the police station like nothing happened?"

"Legal matters are naturally handled by lawyers. I trust our legal team is professional."

Henry's smile didn’t change. "Ms. Spencer, as they say, in business there are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests. Besides, we're very optimistic about your prospects and look forward to working with you."

Alexander finally spoke, his voice cold as ice. "Using inappropriate methods in this place is just wrong."

Henry looked at Alexander, the smile on his face dimming a little. He nodded. "I'll take your advice into account. However, I believe Ms. Spencer will make the best judgment."

After saying this, he raised his glass to them both, turned and left, going back to talk with those other people.

In the car back to the Russell Villa, Catherine kept looking out the window without speaking.

"He's more troublesome than Robert. But don't worry about it too much." Alexander broke the silence.

"He didn't come to negotiate." Catherine turned her head, her eyes cold. "He came to make a statement."

In their circle, coming over to say those kinds of things - wasn't that deliberate?

The next morning at the Harrison Group, Catherine had just finished a video conference when the front desk called.

"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Phillips from K Group wants to see you. He doesn't have an appointment."

"Let him come up."

A few minutes later, Henry walked into the office, led in by Zack. He had changed into a different suit and carried a briefcase, still wearing that smile.

"Ms. Spencer, sorry for the unannounced visit. I hope you'll forgive me, but I have something I want to discuss with you today."

Catherine leaned back in her chair. She didn't invite him to sit, just lifted her chin slightly. "Something to discuss?"

"Of course." Henry didn't seem to mind. He walked to the desk, took out a document from his briefcase, and gently placed it on the desk, pushing it toward her.

"Our company is interested in working with you. If you’re willing to supply this drug, we’ll handle everything else."

He paused, then a slight smile appeared on his face again.

"As for profits, we'll take thirty percent, you take seventy percent."

Zack stood to the side. Hearing this figure, his pupils contracted sharply. Companies this generous were rare indeed.

Catherine didn't even look at the document. She just looked at Henry, then suddenly smiled.

"Zack."

"Yes."

"Show him out."

Cold and decisive. She had absolutely no interest in working with him.

Henry's smile finally froze for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.

"Ms. Spencer, won't you reconsider? This should be better terms than any other company could offer. Only I can give you this."

Catherine stood up and walked in front of him. They were less than a step apart, and her expression looked unpleasant.

"Don't give me that talk. When my son was suffering, why didn't you say these things?"

"Get out."

Henry looked at her. After a few seconds, his face showed no particular expression. He just nodded slightly.

"Business is business. My offer stands. Whenever you come around, you can contact me anytime."

With that, he nodded slightly at Catherine, turned around, and left the office quickly.

The moment the door closed, Catherine's expression looked terrible.

That evening at the Russell Villa, after hearing Catherine's account, Nora crushed the chip bag in her hand with a loud crunch.

"What the hell! Those bastards have the nerve to come to your door? They kidnapped your son and now want a seventy-thirty split? Why not just rob a bank! Who the hell do they think they are?"
