Annabelle seethed. Elena Bennett, that witch, actually dared to seduce Victor–she would never let her sister steal him!
Pacing frantically, Annabelle burst from her room at last and sobbed, “Mom! Elena… Elena is luring Victor–she went with him to Riverton Clubhouse and even sent me a message to provoke me… I don’t want to live anymore!”
Adaline gasped. “What? Impossible! Victor belongs to you–why would he get
a
room with her?”
“It’s true, Mom!” Annabelle thrust out her phone, only to find the message already withdrawn.
“She deleted it, Mom–what do we do? If she sleeps with Victor, Grandpa
will never
accept me!”
“Annie, calm down. Are you sure she sent that photo?” Adaline asked.
“I’m absolutely sure! I know Victor’s back anywhere–it was him!” Annabelle insisted.
Julian Bennett slammed his fist on the table. “Outrageous! That shameless ingrate–I warned her countless times, yet she still dares chase
after Victor!”
“Mom, Dad, let’s catch them in the act–Elena Bennett must not get her way!” Annabelle cried.
Annabelle Bennett beamed at Julian and chirped, “Brother, you really are the sweetest!”
The four of them–Julian, Annabelle, Adaline, and Lawrence–sped straight toward the Riverton Clubhouse.
On the way, Annabelle covertly unlocked her phone, ready to record every second. This time, she vowed, Elena Bennett would be ruined beyond repair.
At the suite door, Julian planted a solid kick against the panel and sent it swinging inward.
Julian roared, “Elena Bennett! You-”
Annabelle screeched, “Sis, how could you seduce Victor… Victor? What are you-”
Their ferocity evaporated the instant they barged in.
The suite was packed with executives. Victor Whitmore sat at the head of the table, laptop open, clearly mid–meeting.
At the far end, Elena Bennett leaned against the wall, her face unreadable as she regarded the intruders.
Victor Whitmore’s brows slammed together. He growled, “What do you think you’re doing?”
Annabelle hastily shoved her phone behind her back and muttered, “How… how did this happen?”
She hurled a murderous glare at Elena. In a flash she understood–it was a trap, and she had walked right into it.
A displeased executive frowned at Victor. “President Whitmore, and this is…?”
Elena Bennett offered a polite smile. “President Sands, this is Mr. Whitmore’s fiancée.”
Someone nearby chuckled. “Miss Bennett, what’s with the phone? You didn’t think he was cheating and come to catch him, did you?” Victor’s face darkened to slate. He seized Annabelle’s wrist and hauled her toward the hallway; Julian and the rest scrambled after them.
Victor Whitmore hissed, “Annabelle, what on earth were you thinking? Today’s meeting was crucial to me.
“My uncle just came back. If I can’t deliver real results on this project, I won’t see a single cent of the Whitmore inheritancel”
Annabelle went paper–white. “Victor, I swear I had no idea…”
From the corridor, Elena lounged against the wall, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.
Victor spat, “Get out of my sight–and stay there!”
Annabelle’s teeth ground so hard they might crack, yet she nodded slowly. “Understood.”
Julian Bennett spotted Elena, grabbed her arm, and dragged her aside. “Elena Bennett, you did this on purpose! You sent that message to mislead Annie and make her cause trouble. What do you want?!”
Elena shrugged. “What message? Oh–you mean that photo? It showed absolutely nothing.
“Why won’t any of you believe me? I’m not the least bit interested in Victor Whitmore.
“See? You ignored my words, and now you’re in trouble. Annabelle, you’d better patch things up with him–because what will you do if he decides he doesn’t want you anymore?”
