The Children of Elarin Veyne

The Second Divine Line

Kaerith Veyne

Age: 15

Appearance:
Slender and graceful, with jet-black hair worn long and luminous violet eyes. Moves almost silently even when she does not try.

Sharp, observant, and sarcastic. Nyrelle watches before acting and prefers subtle solutions over brute force. She has a habit of disappearing mid-conversation.

Vashara Veyne
Species: Serpent shifter
Age: 13

Appearance:
Dark green-black hair, pale luminous eyes, and faint scale patterns along her spine and hips. Her movements are fluid and mesmerizing.

Personality:
Quiet, calculating, and unnervingly calm. Vashara rarely speaks unless necessary and unsettles adults with her perceptiveness. She is deeply bonded to her mother.

Elarin’s Line in the Realm

Elarin’s children are known as The Adapted Line, proof that divine rebirth does not follow predictable patterns. Where Sahiyra’s children reshape power and Lyrien’s stabilize it, Elarin’s evolve it.

Together, the Veyne Bloodlines represent:

Creation. Balance. Adaptation

The realm has never seen anything like them

The Prophecy of the Winged Serpent

Found etched into obsidian tablets buried beneath Moonveil’s oldest roots, translated by two generations of Myrren scholars and sealed until the children came of age.

The Prophecy

Beware the child with wings and coil,
For she is not salvation alone.
Where she stands, the world must choose,
To heal, or to be overthrown.

The Veyne shall stand as one or none,
For blood divided cannot hold.
And should they break, the Devil walks,
Unchallenged, crowned in ruin old.

Ancient Lineage

An ancient species believed extinct before written history, Seraphel were colossal winged serpents born of skyfire and deep magic. They were not destroyers by nature, but balancers. When the world tilted too far toward ruin or stagnation, Seraphel rose, corrected it, and vanished again.

Vaelira Veyne is the first Seraphel born in millennia.

Smaller. Mortal-born. Bound by love.

And far more dangerous.

The Royal Veyne Children

The royal children have all grown up together as a single unit, bound by blood, power, and unshakable loyalty.

They have not yet found mates.

Not because they are unwanted, but because their bonds run deep and their standards are high. They love their family fiercely. Sahiyra. Elarin. Lyrien. Their fathers. Their nannies who raised them. The guardians who trained beside them.

And above all, Uncle Corvan.

To them, he is protector, teacher, and quiet constant. No one ever uncovered his betrayal. Lyrien never spoke of what she saw, believing his sacrifice was made to save them. Over the years, Corvan proved himself again and again, until even his demons grew uneasy with how deeply he loved this family.

The Academy

Built by Sahiyra and her mates, not to control power, but to teach responsibility.

Name: Aureth Vale Academy
Meaning: Golden Balance

Location: Two hours from Moonveil Fortress, nestled between forest, cliffs, and open sky.

Purpose: To educate the royal children and other exceptionally powerful beings in magic, combat, leadership, consent, and control.

It is not a military academy. It is not a breeding ground. It is a place of choice.

The Network

Kylen, who is impossibly proud, designed a private social system exclusively for Aureth Vale.

It allows students to: Navigate a full interactive map of the academy grounds

View class schedules and electives

Choose combat styles, magic disciplines, sports, and clubs

Read teacher introductions and philosophies

Message classmates and form study groups

The system updates in real time and links directly to Moonveil’s protections. Kylen insists it is “just efficient.”

Everyone else knows it is a love letter to his children.

Where We Begin

The academy opens this fall. The children are ready. They are powerful, trained, confident, and deeply bonded. They all believe the Devil is contained. They believe the world is safe. They are wrong.

And the Winged Serpent is about to learn what she was born to do.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What the Kingdom Believes

Verdance believes the war is over.

They believe the Devil was sealed beyond the Veil, his influence broken, his name reduced to myth and warning tales told to children who never knew fear. They believe the gods watch closely, that the annual stabilization rites are enough, and that the cracks between realms are understood, controlled, and safely contained.

They believe Sahiyra saved the world.

They believe balance has been restored permanently, that the rise of female shifters and the healing of ferals was the natural correction of a broken system. They believe the new laws, the academy, the strengthened wards, and the cultural shift toward consent and care are proof that the darkness lost.

Most of all, they believe the future belongs to the House of Veyne, and that nothing could ever threaten it again.

The people sleep well at night. That belief is not entirely wrong.

But it is incomplete.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What Is Actually Real

The Devil was never destroyed.

He was sealed, yes, and forced back beneath the Veil and bound by divine and mortal power combined. But seals are not endings. They are delays. Pressure builds. Magic erodes. Time works in his favor.

The annual stabilization rites do not eliminate the cracks. They reinforce the most visible ones. The ones the gods know about. The ones Sahiyra and her inner circle monitor.

What no one has noticed yet is that the Veil is thinning elsewhere. Far from Moonveil. Far from the wards. Far from the rituals meant to protect the world.

The Devil has learned.

He no longer pushes at the strongest barriers. He searches for the forgotten ones. The neglected places. The old fault lines left behind from ancient wars, from eras before Sahiyra, before Virena and Thoron walked openly among mortals.

And he is not working alone.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Rebellion in the Dark

They call themselves The Ashen Covenant.

Publicly, they do not exist.

To the world, they are traders, scholars, healers, wandering mystics, and displaced clans who claim they do not fit within the new order. Quiet people who avoid attention, and who speak politely of the Queen while resenting everything she represents.

In secret, they worship the Devil.

Not as a monster, but as a god of truth.

They believe Sahiyra’s reign is unnatural. That the rise of female shifters is a corruption of the old world. That balance does not mean equality, but hierarchy. That power should belong to the ruthless, not the compassionate.

They have found ancient texts buried beneath ruins and sealed vaults. Lore from the time when the Veil was first formed. Rituals written in blood and bone. Magic that predates the gods’ current dominion over the realms.

They are not strong enough to break the Veil themselves. But they are strong enough to weaken it.

Their leader is known only as The Ember Prophet.

No one knows their true name. No one knows their species. Only that they speak with authority, with conviction, and with the uncanny certainty of someone who has heard the Devil’s voice and survived.

The Ember Prophet claims the Devil does not wish to destroy the world.

He wishes to reclaim it.

And Sahiyra, with her perfect family, her powerful daughters, her healed beasts, and her impossible legacy, stands in the way of that destiny.

The Covenant’s goal is simple.

Open a new crack. Anchor it. Feed it with fear, sacrifice, and rebellion. Give the Devil a door the gods do not see coming.

They do not plan to attack Moonveil directly.

Not yet. They plan to rot the world around it until the Queen is forced to come to them.

And when she does, they believe she will fall.

Because even gods bleed.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~

The royal children of House Veyne did not grow up as legends. They grew up as weapons being carefully, and lovingly forged.

From the outside, the world saw laughter in Moonveil Castle. Long tables crowded with family. Music echoing through stone halls. Children racing through gardens, climbing onto patient beasts, and falling asleep in piles beside guardians who would die for them without hesitation. The world saw warmth, abundance, and a future so bright it felt permanent.

What it did not see were the lessons beneath it.

Sahiyra never lied to her children. Not about the Devil. Not about the gods. Not about the price of peace. They were raised knowing exactly why Verdance was different, and exactly how fragile that difference remained.

They learned early that power without restraint led to ruin. That mercy without strength invited slaughter. That love was not softness, but responsibility.

Vaelira learned this before she could walk.

The winged serpent was born with something ancient humming beneath her scales, an echo of a bloodline thought long erased. She did not dream the way other children did. She sensed. She listened. She felt the places where the world thinned and whispered back.

Her siblings followed close behind her.

Arielle, quiet and unyielding, with cold wind in her gaze. Nimira and Soren, moon and night, always watching what others missed. Calix, steady and bright, already carrying command in his posture. Kavren, grounded and observant. Rovin, patient as the winter itself.

They were never told they were destined to save the world.

They were taught how to survive it.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~

The academy was never meant to be just a school.

It is a safeguard.

Aureth Vale Academy, meaning Golden Balance, stands two hours from Moonveil Castle at the convergence of the most powerful ley lines, fault lines, and ancient scars left behind by wars that history preferred to forget. Its walls were carved with wards layered so deeply even the gods had paused before approving them.

Kylen designed its systems. Sahiyra chose its location. Elarin and Lyrien poured their souls and magic into it. Virena herself sealed its foundations.

To the public, Aureth Vale existed to guide powerful youths safely. To prevent another age of ferals. To ensure restraint, education, and balance in a world overflowing with power.

All of that was true.

It simply was not the whole truth.

Aureth Vale will train its students to recognize corruption, resist possession, and fight entities that did not belong to this realm. Combat will be layered with magic theory. Magic theory will be layered with ethics. Ethics will be tested under pressure, exhaustion, and fear. They will learn how to control and defend against dark magic. The most powerful will train in Divine magic studies.

Every student will be monitored. Every bond will be observed. Every surge of power will be recorded.

The royal children will not be exempt.

They will be trained harder.
