Chapter One Hundred And Fifteen
David
I don’t have time for Max right now I have more pressing issues. If he calls me to tell me something about Sara or the demon Dura then I’ll show up without asking questions. I will be at his doorstep immediately. But if it has to do with Miguel then I don’t want to hear it. It seems like we’re only going to address this matter when we’re done with whatever we’re doing. That’s all I know.
I have my priorities straight. People are dying and our relationship can wait, we have to save the good supes of New York first.
Now, from what I’ve learned. This demon was once a person named Daniel in the forties and he had a lover who was killed for being effeminate. And he wanted revenge so he sought the dark arts so that he’d get revenge on the people who killed his boyfriend. The darkness consumed him and he turned into a demon.
And since he became a demon it was easy for an exorcism to ban him straight to the underworld than remove the darkness that was inside of him. He didn’t just have darkness inside of him anymore, he became that darkness.
And turns out that this individual was my ancestor. A Ramirez. And that’s why we have such a connection and the person who summoned him is a family member who by some weird reason wants to destroy the world? What did the world do to them to want to destroy it? Sure, the world has been evil to people like us but this is never the answer.
These are the things I know. I am related to the bastards causing a commotion around New York. But why just New York? Does this mean that my relative is in New York. You see I have so many questions that need answering.
That is why I have dragged Jeremy along to spy on Harper. The one and only witch who gave me the information in the first place.
“Do you really think she’s hiding something from you?” Jeremy asks and we’re both standing across the street waiting of Harper to walk out of the coffee shop. She’s been flirting with the barrister for the longest time and it has gotten tiring. Like what the fuck does she keep talking about that it can’t wait?
“I don’t know Jeremy. If someone told you they had deep info about the person that’s been killing people in New York and you ask them where they got their info from and they say they can’t tell you. What do you do?”
Jeremy smiles showing his teeth. “I’ll become suspicious and I’ll try to find out what they’re hiding.” he says so confidently like a school boy who just answered a question and can’t wait for the teacher to give him a treat.
“Exactly, this is what we’re doing. Harper doesn’t want to tell us where she got her info from so we’re following her to see if she’ll lead us to where she got it from.” I look away from him and I look straight at the coffee shop, she’s still there.
“Ohh, that makes sense.” Jeremy says and he can’t see me but I roll my eyes. I can’t with this guy. He might not be the smartest but he’ll come in handy if we want to fight with anyone.
There, she’s done talking to the cute barrister and she’s about to come out. She walks out of the coffee shop and might I just say she looks so good.
She’s in a black leather jacket, black leather pants, boots and dark shades on her head. She looks like a model or an actress all she needs are paparazzi that’s going to be taking pictures of her.
Or two paparazzi that are going to be following her.
She holds her coffee in her hand and she walks over to her car and she gets in then starts it.
“Oh shit.” I say then I look to order a taxi quickly. I could have asked Max to be here since he’s the one with the car but my ego wouldn’t let me. So I’m stuck looking for taxis with Jeremy so we can catch up to Harper, see what she’s up to.
Luckily one stops in front of us and Jeremy and I jump in.
“Follow that black BMW, fast.” and the driver does as I’m told and he follows Harper’s car. We don’t know if she’s about to do some suspicious activity but we’ll see when we get there.
What the fuck are you hiding Harper. I know you didn’t get that information out of thin air. Or maybe she did and it’s all been a lie and she’s conspiring with the enemy, she’s working with him.
I hate to accuse her like this but I have no choice. I have been lied to in the past too many times and at this point I don’t expect to trust anyone. Including Harper. Maybe the fact that Daniel was controlling her messed with her brain that’s why she’s making bad decisions. At least that’s what I think.
I really hope I’m wrong and she’s not up to anything evil and that she’s on our side and not on the side of this evil mastermind.
I really like Harper which is something I never thought I’d say. Because the first time me and Harper met we didn’t like each other. We saw each other as academic rivals. But ever since she wanted to help with the Michael situation and almost got trashed she’s become a friend to me. I’d like to think we’re friends now.
Oh honest to God she better not be evil, she better not be a traitor because that would suck.
“Are you okay?” Jeremy asks me. And I turn to meet him.
“Huh? Oh, yeah I’m good.”
“Are you sure?”
“I just have lots of things in my mind.”
“Like, Max cheating on you?”
Oh God, Jeremy I wasn’t thinking about that anything but that I don’t have time to think of that. I have one mission and that’s to find out what Harper is hiding not to think and cry about why my mate cheated on me.
“You know he didn’t mean to do that right? He really loves you.” I give him a confused look because I don’t know where this coming from. Was he sent by Max in hopes that I forgive him? If yes then Max is about to make me even more pissed even though I told him I didn’t want to talk about this for now.
“What? Have you suddenly become Max’s spokesperson?”
“No, not at all. I am totally on your side, always. I think what he did was really stupid and you don’t deserve that kind of bullshit.” he confirms. “I just think he made a mistake and he didn’t mean to hurt you, he really loves you I know he does. He’s nothing like Ryan who did what he did without thinking. I know it.”
I don’t say anything I just continue to look straight out the window eyes focused on Harper’s car.
“Look, all I’m saying is give him a hard time but not too much of a hard time. He’s really hurting, he’s hurting that he did what he did to you. You’re both hurt and even though I think you should heal I want you two to get back together because you’re the only ones giving me hope at love.”
I look at him as soon as he said what he said and now I feel bad for him.
“What about Bloom I thought things were going great between you?” I ask and he sighs reaching out for his pocket and bringing out his phone to show me a picture. And it’s an Instagram post of Bloom and this other hot guy. They’re all lovey dovey, and I’m about to say it’s nothing until I spot the caption that says ‘the love of my life’ and Jeremy goes to the next slide and we all see the pics of them kissing each other.
“Damn.” I simply say because what the fuck is there to say. But then is see the pain in his eyes. “I’m sorry Jeremy.”
“It’s okay, I kinda deserved it. We weren’t meant to be soulmates anyway.” he shrugs. “But you and Max, now that’s forever.” he says and I look away from him and I’m about to think about Max. How we met immediately after I caught Ryan having sex with Elijah.
It was almost like fate like we were meant to be together. The passionate sex that we had with each other after we left the club. We had sex like animals. And it didn’t look like we were strangers who were having a one night stand. It looked like we both knew each other and we’ve been having sex for the longest time.
All the times we’ve kissed, the times we’ve looked at each other in the eyes and fallen deep in love over and over. Max is my soulmate and I’m stuck with him unfortunately, but I’m not ready to forgive him but I will.
I know he didn’t mean to hurt me and that fake ass Miguel is nothing more than someone he’s doing business with. I swear if I catch him with Max again I will scratch his eyes from his sockets so he doesn’t see someone elses mate to have sex with.
Thank Goddess you don’t need your eyes to sniff perfumes. He should try me and he’ll see. I’ll make sure his world crashes.
Max is mine, and only mine no one elses maybe I should be violent so everyone knows that fact.
As for now we have to put our eyes on the prize and follow the witch chic so we’re sure that her source is credible because something fishy is going on.
Harper’s car comes to a slow and we’re at a neighborhood. Her car stops and we tell the taxi to stop further away from her so she doesn’t catch us. I don’t know if this is her house because I’ve never been to her house before.
She walks out of the car and she goes to ring the doorbell. Jeremy and I are in the backseat watching to see who will come out. If it’s not one significant and she’s not hiding anything then we wasted our time for fucking nothing.
But we watch. I’m surprised at how patient the taxi driver is being, he just reads his newspaper he doesn’t protest. While Jeremy and I are looking straight at the house Harper is standing in front of.
The door goes open and the person walks out and it’s a man, they’re both kissing each other. We both set our eyes to see who the man is.
Holy shit, no fucking way.
“Whoa.” Jeremy says after seeing who it is then he
faces me and I’m just as shocked as he is.
Why the fuck is Harper kissing my ex boyfriend?
