Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Aurelia's POV
"No, what do you mean?" I asked, the saliva in my mouth drying up due to nervousness. I laughed, as if that was going to ease up the guilt I felt.
"You can tell me. I won't overreact, I promise."
"What do I know? I'm not sure what you mean."
"You think he's cheating don't you? Do you know something... You know who...you caught him... There's someone else you think he loves, right?"
Me..I wanted to say..but then, Killian didn't love me. He loved the idea of owning me..
"I don't know what you're talking about," I replied with a tight smile. "How do I even know if he's cheating or not?"
"At the club. Before you got wasted... Did... You see something?"
"It won't do you any good... Dwelling on things like this?”
“All men cheat," she shrugged. "And before you get defensive... Your father cheated on me too."
I was silent, not knowing what to say. That was the least thing I expected my father to do.
I nodded and then sighed. "We should get going."
We stepped out of the car and walked into the mall, going to the section for room decor.
"You know... We should have made a list before coming here."
"We should have."
+++++
There was no feeling greater than the last day of finals.
I submitted my paper to the invigilator and stood up, feeling blood rush to my legs immediately. Sitting for three hours straight had cut off the blood supply entirely, and to be honest, I was surprised my legs didn't get paralyzed.
With a smile plastered on my face, I got my backpack and happily skipped out of the hall into the corridors.
For the first time in forever, I didn't have to worry about formulas and essays and all that. I could just exist and be me for about two months.
I checked the time on my phone and sighed. It was 3:45 pm, and the sun was sweltering hot. Nonetheless, I took the longer pathway to my dorm, stopping to get ice cream twice.
The last three weeks of school had been pretty uneventful other than the fact that my ex was expelled from school for harassment and stalking. The report had been filed by my "guardian" and apparently, people testified against Daniel for it. Normally, the school would not expel a student for stalking or harassment, but I knew Killian had gone that far.
Too bad I did not give him what he wanted, which was a confrontation. Instead, I ignored it and ignored the texts. The dormitory also has stricter rules around its environment so he could not show up unexpectedly, and the few times he had come to campus to look for me, I avoided him the best that I could.
I finally got to the forms after what seemed like forever, and pushed the door open. Tasha was already packing her stuff to go— the side of her room was half empty.
"How'd your last exam go?" She asked me.
"Pretty good," I smiled. "You?"
"I probably flunked it," she snorted. "Buttt, the professor and I have history, so I am going to pass."
"Is there anyone you don't have history with?" I chuckled.
"Not that type of history," she rolled her eyes. "I just happen to know pretty confidential information about him."
"Cool?" I asked, not entirely sure what to say.
I went to my side of the room and sank down on the bed, feeling exhausted. I needed to pack my stuff, but I really didn't have the energy. "Hey, did Audrey come here?" I asked. "Called her before my paper and it went to voicemail. I haven't gotten anything back since then."
"Well, speak of the devil," Tasha grinned as someone barged into the room dramatically.
Audrey stood there, looking very sunburnt and wretched. She dragged a suitcase behind her and then sank right onto the floor. "Girl, I'm dyinggg," Audrey drawled out, yawning.
"I'm pretty surprised you had the energy to pack after an exam."
"Oh no, I packed up my shit yesterday," she said, rolling on the floor until she was at my foot. "Soooooo, how does it feel... Going home after staying in the dorm for three weeks straight."
"Well it was less distracting than home," I told her, and it was the truth.
"We need to attend a party," Audrey said, finally coming off the floor, she sat on the bed beside me and pulled out her phone, scrolling through it.
"What if we were the ones who threw the party?" I asked her. "I've got a house to myself."
"I almost forgot about that!" Audrey said excitedly. "We should like ... I don't know, go now??? Throw a party now? Like, prepare and shit?"
"Or..." Tasha began, having a look on her face. I knew she had a different opinion. "We could just make it three of us? Decorate? Party? Without cleaning up the mess of dozens... I don't know, it just seems... Logical?"
"Since when did you start turning down the idea of a party?" Audrey narrowed her eyes at Tasha. "I mean, I agree, but since when?"
Tasha shrugged. "Let's call it girl bonding time."
"Sounds fun. Now which one of you will be sweethearts and help me pack?" I asked.
"Do it yourself," they both drawled out.
"Haters." I stood up and stretched my hands. At least, I had started something. "I can't wait to just relax and do nothing this holiday."
"It seems like you've forgotten you have an internship," Audrey whistled. "At best, you have three weeks of lazing about. Hey, have you found a place to do that yet though?"
"No!" I wailed dramatically.
"Maybe you'll meet some cute guy there," Audrey said with a smile. "You need to get laid. When was the last time you got laid?"
"Let's not talk about my sex life right now." I walked towards my wardrobe and pulled the door open. "And I got laid pretty recently."
