Chapter 35: Business Investment
Henry walked into the sleek, modern lobby of the Scofield Company, his disguise transforming him into a stranger. He adjusted his suit, adopting a confident air.
As he approached the reception desk, the receptionist looked up, her eyes locking onto his.
"How may I help you, sir?" she asked, her voice professional.
Henry cleared his throat, deepening his voice. "I'm here for a business meeting with Mr. Matthew Scofield."
The receptionist's fingers flew across her keyboard. "Are you Mr. Henry Smith?" she asked.
Henry nodded, his expression serious.
The receptionist smiled. "Welcome, Mr. Smith. Mr. Scofield is expecting you. Please, take a seat."
She gestured to the plush waiting area.
Henry sat, scanning the lobby's opulent decor.
Within minutes, the receptionist's phone buzzed.
"Mr. Scofield will see you now," she announced.
Henry stood, straightening his tie.
As he followed the receptionist to Matthew Scofield's office, his mind raced with strategy.
The door swung open, revealing Matthew's imposing figure.
"Ah, Mr. Smith," Matthew said.
Henry's grip was firm. "Mr. Scofield."
Their handshake sealed the beginning of a pivotal meeting.
"Come and have a seat," Matthew said, gesturing to the plush leather chair across from his expansive mahogany desk, adorned with elegant lamps and a crisp, organized workspace.
Henry strode confidently across the room, his eyes scanning the elegant office decor. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a stunning city view.
He settled into the chair, his back straight, exuding an air of authority.
Matthew took his seat behind the desk, a warm smile on his face.
"I'm glad to meet you, Mr. Smith," Matthew said, his voice genuine.
"Nice to me you to Mr Scofield" He replied.
"Thanks for keeping to your promise," Matthew continued, leaning forward.
Henry's smile hinted at his satisfaction. "It's a pleasure. So, I think we should go straight to business."
Matthew nodded, rising from his seat. "Of course. I've prepared the necessary documents."
He walked to a nearby filing cabinet, extracting a thick folder.
"Here are the project documents," Matthew said.
He placed the folder on the coffee table in front of Henry.
Henry's eyes widened as he opened the folder, scanning the contents.
The documents detailed a lucrative partnership.
"This looks promising," Henry said.
Matthew returned to his seat. "I believe our companies can mutually benefit."
Henry's smirk grew. "I agree. Let's discuss terms."
Matthew leaned back in his chair, a hint of a smile on his face. "So, this project was my sister Electra's idea."
Henry's eyes lit up with recognition. "Electra? I know her."
Matthew's eyebrows rose in surprise. "You know my sister?"
Henry nodded. "Why wouldn't I? Your company is one of the top twenty in the country, and your ads are all over TV."
Matthew chuckled. "I guess that's true. Electra's always been a visionary."
Henry's expression turned serious. "I can see why. She's done an impressive job with your company."
Matthew nodded, pride evident in his voice. "Yes, she has."
Henry leaned forward, pen poised over his notes. "So, shall we proceed with the project details?"
Matthew nodded, his expression focused and confident. "Yes, let's get started," he said, unfolding a crisp white sheet of paper from his folder.
"The project is a revolutionary financial foundation designed to empower people's growth," Matthew began, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "It's a hybrid platform where individuals can invest and borrow funds, fostering a supportive ecosystem for economic development."
Henry leaned forward, intrigued, as Matthew delved into the specifics.
" Investors can choose from various term options, earning percentage returns based on their investment duration," Matthew explained. "Meanwhile, borrowers can access funds at competitive interest rates, repaying in manageable installments with flexible payment plans."
Henry's eyes widened, impressed by the comprehensive framework. "Wow, that's incredibly thorough! Should I call it a loan company or a local bank?" he asked, scribbling notes on his pad.
Matthew smiled. "Think of it as a holistic financial hub. We'll provide financial inclusion, education, and resources to bridge the gap between traditional banking and community needs."
Henry nodded, his expression thoughtful. "I love it. This has the potential to transform lives. What's the projected growth timeline?"
Matthew's eyes sparkled. "With strategic partnerships and effective marketing, we're aiming for significant expansion within the first two years. We'll establish a strong online presence, leverage social impact initiatives, and build a network of community ambassadors."
Matthew continued, "We've secured alliances with two reputable banks, ensuring a substantial insurance safety net."
Henry's eyes lit up, grasping the implications. "That means, even if the company incurs losses, customers will still receive their principal investment and promised interest."
Matthew nodded, elaborating, "As outlined in the agreement, in the event of a loss, the interest payout would be adjusted. For instance, if we promised a 50% return, you'd receive 25% instead."
Henry whistled, impressed. "Wow, you guys are business savvy! You've thought of every contingency."
Matthew smiled. "We've worked tirelessly to create a robust framework, ensuring our customers' investments are secure and profitable."
Henry leaned back, nodding. "I'm sold. This partnership will be a huge success. When do we start implementing the plan?"
Matthew's expression turned enthusiastic. "We can begin integrating the banking partnerships and finalizing the investment structures immediately. Our team is ready to move forward."
Henry inquired, "So, how many shareholders do we have on board so far?"
Maxwell replied, "We've got at least five companies interested in owning shares, but our current funds are insufficient."
Henry's curiosity piqued, "What's the highest investment so far?"
Matthew shook his head, "As the business manager, I must keep that confidential. The investment amounts will be disclosed to the relevant authorities and shareholders, but sharing sensitive information isn't professional."
Henry reassured, "I understand. I just wanted to gauge your progress. I'm considering investing significantly more."
Matthew's expression turned thoughtful. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Mr Smith. Let's schedule a shareholders' meeting to discuss investment details and strategy."
"But trying to know that shouldn't be a problem," Henry said with a smile.
"Instead of asking for the specific amount, let's frame it differently," Maxwell suggested. "Our largest shareholder currently holds 15% shares, while the company retains 50%. To move forward, we need an additional 25% share."
Henry's eyes sparkled. "I'll cover the 25% shares. Let's get this project started!"
"Excellent!" Matthew exclaimed. "Shall we schedule a meeting at your office to finalize the agreement?"
Henry nodded. "Sounds perfect. My team will prepare the necessary documents."
Matthew extended his hand. "Thank you for this invaluable partnership, Mr Smith. Your trust in o
ur vision means everything."
Henry shook hands firmly. "The pleasure's mine, Mr Scofield. I'm excited to see this project flourish."
