Chapter 25 Council's Invitation


Cassian's pov

I sat with my legs crossed as I watched Kael walk out of my castle. For Serena's sake, I did things this past few days. Things that I didn't imagine that I would ever do, especially eat and dine with a man like Kael after what he did to me.

Now he is using Serena as an excuse to form some sort of alliance but I knew that behind that, something else was behind it.

“My lord!” I heard Ryker speak as he walked in,it was obvious that he had been listening to my conversation with Kael all this while.

“What are you going to do about him, he is a Lycan king and clearly there is no way you can ever share your soul mate with him”

“I know, I am fully aware of that. But trust me now is not the time”

“He is the Lycan king, if he eventually marks her, then you will not be able to feed on her ever again!”

I could feel the anxiety in Ryker's voice, he was right and seeing the way Kael had left, I knew that was his next plan.

But knowing Kael's personality, he was never going to do it without Serena's approval , which gives me a little time to find out how to approach this.

“I know Ryker, Serena is mine and trust me, I am never going to let him have her” I spoke in a very deep and hoarse tone, I rose to my feet and started walking out of the large living room, but Ryker followed.

“There is no way that Kael would seek alliance with you just for Serena sake”

“I know” I responded while still walking through the hallway.

“My lord, this alliance he seeks, there is definitely something behind it and I can only guess he is having trouble in his pack”

I finally came to a halt, with a blank expression on my face, I turned around to stare at him.

“You need to calm down Ryker, I definitely know he is in trouble and that is why he had come to seek my help, I know you want me to use that to my advantage but when dealing with Kael, we need to be extra careful, do you get it”

This time, my gaze was fixed at him, he lowered his head and finales nodded.

“Yes my lord”

“Good! Now get the car ready, we are going to the human world. I need to see Serena and know how she is coping”

“Yes Sire!” He bowed his head and dashed out of there while I finally return to my room. And even as I swung the door open, my mind was running wild, the only thing I could think about was how to win Serena all for myself.

Because there was definitely no way that I was going to share with me, but just as I stepped inside my face instantly turned sore seeing the female figure on my bed.

Lisa was seated on my bed dressed in a very short pink gown which exposed most parts of her thigh,she had a silly smirk on her lips.

Even though I was certain that I had locked the door before leaving, I still wasn't surprised as to how she made her way here.

“What do you want Lisa, I thought I already made it clear to you that the both of us have nothing going on”

I spoke in a deep voice, turning my back at her while I headed to the dresser, trying to find a suitable outfit because I knew that I would be visiting Serena soon.

“Oh please Cassian! You flatter yourself too much, I am not here for you, I mean in that way you think”

“If you are not here for me, then why are you here?” Seeing that she didn't respond immediately, I knew something was going on, I stopped what I was doing, turned my attention at her.

“I was sent by the council of vampires!”

“Off course!” I shrugged, knowing that I wasn't surprised about this.

“What did you say to them?”

She laughed hysterically then walked closer to me, even as she did, I couldn't help but continue staring at her her curve figure, i have never met any woman better than her in bed.

Part of me wanted to grab her and gag still she screams my name, but I knew there was something else on hand, something that was probably more important than sex.

“They asked me to deliver a message to you, they want to you at the council conference by tomorrow”

“And if I don't?” She cocked an eyebrow at me in a silly way as I started walking back to the bed room where I let out a long sigh before sitting down.

“Seriously Cassian, do you want to start a war with the council, you might be powerful but do you think that you can defeat all of them?”

She was right and she knew it whivj was why she had played this game.

She knew she would never be able to get me to be one hers if she played it this way which was why she had involved the council knowing that was something that I couldn't refuse.

“You don't know yet why they seek your presence. I adviced you see them first, know what this is all about before you speak”

I nodded my head, a blank expression still raided my face as I stared at her.

“Thanks for bringing this to me even though I know there is better messengers you could have used. You should leave now”

“Of course I will!” A smirk spread through her lips again as she walked towards me and I could perceive her strong scent, jasmine was so intoxicating around her.

She titled closer to me, so close that I could barely resist her.

“I don't know what is so special about this human girl. If it her blood you find attractive then you can just place her in the dungeon every day and suck the life out of her, but I intend to watch and see how much you are ready to lose for her sake”

She whispered, giving me a soft kiss before finally walking out of there. I ran my fingers through my hair, I badly wanted to go see Serena, but now I can't because I have to deal with council and knowing them for centuries, they hate to be kept waiting.
