Chapter 170
RYKER’S POV
“NO!!!” I howled into the busy hall in pain, helpless. Just as I screamed and bucked under the invisible chains that held me in place, I was flung back into the clearing. It was as though I never left.
“Not again,” I breathed heavily, taking a step forward this time. Looking for an escape out of this damn clearing. This place was cursed, and it brought out the ugliest of visions, or perhaps memories.
“This place is cursed,” Rider growled in my head. Suddenly, I heard a sound, and my head snapped in the direction of the sound. I saw two other Alphas not too far from each other, looking ahead as though in a trance, and then it struck me.
We were all stuck.
It wasn’t that the forest didn’t have living things. The gateway to Xemir itself was a window of a trial that would only allow you through once you prove yourself.
“What do we do? Those chains, they are too strong. They feel like they are held by a thousand hands, keeping me locked,” Rider growled in my head. In the world we were thrown into, he was completely helpless. I couldn’t feel him.
“We have to get out of here,” I muttered under my breath and looked around quickly just in case I missed something. But when I took a step forward, I heard the ghostly voice again.
It sounded lazy, as though watching an unworthy soul.
“Where do you think you are going, Alpha King Ryker? The only way for you is back the same way you came.”
“No! Never! I refuse to go back,” I sneered. And just like that, without warning, I was thrown into another familiar terrain.
This time, it was though I could see through walls and people, and hear their thoughts. I was back in my pack house again.
This time, I was in my room, but Vera was riding me.
“Tell me, Ryker, who is more deserving to be by your side, me or that whore?” She moaned out loud.
My gaze darkened. This was wrong. All shades of wrong. Everything felt too real, yet it wasn’t.
I tried to speak, but then I realized I couldn’t say anything. My lips were sealed. I moved my lips again, trying to speak, but instead a groan of pleasure came out of me.
Then I heard the ghostly voice speaking right through Vera. “You used this worthless chit to hurt our goddess.”
“No,” I whispered. But the ghostly voice continued through Vera, and her pacing on my dick increased harder while I struggled. I could feel the adrenaline, the rush of blood.
“No. This is wrong,” I managed to growl out.
“Is it?” The voice sounded sweeter. Sounded like Lyra’s. Then the next thing I know, I am seeing Lyra across the room. She was in her room with Nessa, but how come her room is right inside mine?
She was thrashing in the bed, clutching her heart while Nessa tried to hold her down, patting her already damp hair that was soaked with sweat.
“You are burning up, Lyra, but I can’t seem to know what’s wrong.” Nessa’s voice drifted across the room.
Meanwhile, Vera suddenly picks up pace on my dick, and Lyra screams again in pain.
“Argh!!! It hurts here,” She screams out loud. “Take it out of me. Please, I can’t take it anymore,”
And just as I reach my climax, I see Lyra pull out her heart from her chest. But this time her heart isn’t whole, but a gaping hole could be seen right through it. Then she looks across the room, right at me, looking as pale as a ghost.
“Lyra,” I tried to stand, but once again, I am held captive. Stuck by those invisible chains.
“YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO CALL HER NAME!!!” The ghostly voice shouts, throwing me out of the vision and back to the clearing.
I am panting now. Clearly exhausted. It was clear now why the people who stepped on their feet in the Xemir lost their minds.
“Please,” A raspy voice rang out. I couldn’t believe it was mine. I was laden with the pain of betraying the bond over and over again. “Let me be with her. I know I’m not worthy. I’ve made too many mistakes, but by the goddess! I will rewrite my wrongs forever,”
“Too late for that, Alpha King,” The ghostly voice laughed,d and from the side of my eye, I see a blinding white light and one of the Alphas run through it.
“No, it can’t be. She is mine.”
“Is she?”
The trial continued.
We were back again to the visions. This time, we were in the pack hospital, or so it looked like. There was a commotion, and then I found myself moving, or rather, being moved as though a force controlled where I would be. There I could see Vera screaming, pointing her fingers across the room. Suddenly, the room that was separated by walls appeared to have no walls, making another room come into sight with Lyra standing by the side of her bed, looking confused and shocked.
“You tried to kill my baby. Why are you so heartless, Lyra?”
“I would never—” Lyra suddenly cut in, shaking fearfully as blood trailed between her legs. At the corner of the room, I see one of Vera’s friends pick up something from the corner of the room and rush out. But just as immediately, I am stopped by Vera’s thoughts.
You bitch! Let’s see how you ever become Luna. When I am done with you, you will know better than to cross me in any of your lifetimes.
Then she looks at me and cries, “Ryker, Ryker, she killed our baby, you have to avenge me!” Just as I was about to move, someone passed by me, and I was stunned to see myself. This version of me turns to Lyra and sneers, then lunges for her neck, lifting her above the ground.
“You will hurt the child, Alpha King. She is with child!” A voice cries out pleadingly, and I see Alvin running over, trying to pry my hands off Lyra’s neck. But he is too late.
I had shifted into my claws and ripped out her belly.
“Such filth is not worthy of being my mate.”
She falls like a crumbled heap to the ground right beside Adam, whom I hadn’t noticed in the scheme of things earlier, before turning around.
Our eyes met, and this version of me gave a knowing smile.
“You do not deserve her,” He growled, knocking me out of this part of the vision yet again.
