Episode 161
DIMITRI’S POV
When she approached, I couldn’t help but go closer. This was my own flesh and blood. The goddess must have had mercy on me for all my wrongs to keep her alive and safe all these years.
The air around her sparked with life, and I couldn’t help but swell with pride when the men bowed their heads as she walked past. She would make a fine ruler, and I was indeed proud of her. Not just that, I was proud to be her father.
Her eyes narrowed as she approached the dais, then landed on me as I approached her.
“You,” She whispered under her breath just as I appeared
In front of her. Ignoring the gasps of shock from the men at seeing me move at such lightning speed.
“Do you know who I am?” I asked her, circling, observing her for any signs of weakness. My kingdom was not the regular type. It was one here that one fought for supremacy and the right to rule almost at every turn.
She scoffed and angled her head to watch me as I circled her. “You are supposed to be the Lycan King, aren’t you?” Then she dismissed me almost immediately and turned her attention back to the Alpha Ryker.
“You sent for me, Alpha King,”
“There’s been a development. The Lycan King here says you are his long-lost daughter, which makes you partly Lycan and partly werewolf. Do you have a Lycan wolf?” Ryker asked. His gaze fixed on Lyra, waiting while she stood silent. Her expression was unreadable. After a few seconds of silence, she finally replied with one word.
“Yes,”
Gasps of shock filled the entire hall. Then she responded.
“Yes, I have a Lycan wolf, but I only have one father, and his name was Alpha Damien Moonfang. I am Lyra Moonfang, and I do not know this man.”
“Then would you be receptive to confirming this, Lyra, my child?” I faced her with a slow smile. “You see, a true Alpha knows his blood, and you are my blood. A splitting image of your mother, Isla and by the gods, the one true heir to the throne and the Queen to all Lycans. You are Lyra Stormborne. My daughter, heir to my throne. And you carecogniseze who I am from your blood.” Then I grabbed her arm, and she gasped. It pulsed red, and her eyes glowed, shocking white lights before I released her.
She looked at me in awe and gasped.
“How?” Colour draining from her face.
I had shown her our ancestry. Something only my blood would see and recognise.
“Father? But how? How is this possible?” Her voice was barely above a whisper.
“Come, I will explain everything”
LYRA’S POV
It’s been three days of intense discussion and deliberation with my father and the werewolves. Dimitri had refused to let me out of his sight, except when I had to return to my quarters for a rest. It was no longer news that the war was over, and everyone began to move about their lives. In those three days, I had not been with Ryker intimately. I could feel his eyes on me, at every turn. He had watched me from a distance, careful not to have contact in the open, which I was grateful for. I wasn’t ready to have my fatheknowng there was something between Ryker and me, much less have an idea about our ugly past together.
“When this is over, you’d be coming with me back home.” I looked u to find my father’s gaze on me.
“Isn’t it too sudden? I mean, I have a pack, and I have people who look up to me that I have to cater for.” I sighed, and he growled. His eyes went a shade icier than usual, and I sighed. He was sweet but overbearing, and always had his way.
“Fine,” I sighed again. “I need to get things in order, though,” He nodded and gave me a smile before stopping to give me a scrutinising look.
“What is it?” I growled.
‘I was wondering when you were going to tell me about you and the Alpha king.”
His question threw me off guard, and I blinked but quickly hid my surprise. “What about him?” I asked, with a look that screamed I had no idea what he was saying.
He chuckled. “Very well, my little Stormborne," he added and strolled to the adjoining room.
“He’s always like that. He sees things you know,” A husky voice drifted past my ear, causing me to gasp and spin round fast.
“Varkas,” I hissed, rolling my eyes. “I’ve told you to stop creeping up on me like that, and he laughed.
Varkas was my father’s beta. He was a strong fighter and a warrior with ruggedly handsome features, huge and abs all in the right places, as tall as Ryker, but that was it about him, I guess. Except that he had been circling me like a fucking vulture these past days, then there were the subtle surprise show-ups around me when I was too busy to notice, and a few gestures like asking about my welfare and making sure I lacked nothing.
It didn’t take me long to figure out what his intentions were. If he liked me or not, I had no idea. But one thing was sure, I was high-priced goods now that it was news that I was Queen to a vast Kingdom. I didn’t want any entanglements at the moment either. Sex with Ryker was okay for now, till it was time for me to leave and sever the bond between us for good.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t help it, princess. Did I scare you?”
He moved closer to me, and I took a step back.
“Back off, Varkas,” I hissed and walked past him. “I have things to do.”
