Chapter 117: Strange behaviours
Jace
The things that have been happening in the house have begun getting rather frightening and I could barely understand anything anymore. I had been asked to round off everything I was doing and go straight to my room even though I had some things to tidy up. It was an order and from the look on Harold's face, I was not supposed to know. Well, it was finally beginning to settle down in my mind that I was in the midst of rather dangerous men and it was paramount that I kept out of their way. What I wanted to know now was the main problem here and to what extent they had taken their acts. I went to my bedroom, pacing around and wondering what I should do when I started hearing the arguments downstairs. I was really curious and I found myself itching to eavesdrop but I could not. I have always been used to following Harold's instructions and perhaps, this was something he did not want me hearing about. So, I found what would be best for me and I went to the bathroom as I turned on the shower, letting it run down my body.
Eventually, I finished after a really long time. Long enough to believe that everything had settled and I decided to come out. I listened for some time because I wanted to know if there were still any signs that they might be talking but the entire house was quiet, making me feel relaxed. Eventually, I opened my door a little and I peered around my floor but there were no signs. This was when I started coming out as I looked upstairs, I was tempted to go up. At least, to go see what was in that library that they were hiding but there was absolutely nothing I could do while they were around. I meant, for all I knew, this was probably a bait and a way to get me to commit myself. I did not want that either. I did not want to have to get any deeper into things I did not know about than now.
So, I went towards the end downstairs, and I stopped when I noticed the sitting room door was not locked. In fact, it was slightly open. I knew that they were still outside and I best start going back to my bedroom. Perhaps, Garrett would come speak to me and he might tell me if I needed to worry right now. I went straight to my bedroom and I laid down there, drawing my covers up as I held it to my chest while facing the ceiling. A billion thoughts racing through my crazed mind at the moment as I kept thinking. There had to be something that I could do to ease all of this, right?
I mean, I could actually run away because telling them that I no longer wanted to work for them might result in my death. So there I was, thinking but unable to sleep. I was awake when they all started coming inside and I just stayed there. By my thoughts, I had expected that Garrett would come to be but I guess I was expecting too much from him because he never did and I stayed there until I finally fell asleep.
I woke up very early the next morning before there was a single light in the sky and I started coming downstairs as I needed to resume my duties only to find Harold in the kitchen already.
"Good morning, Harold." I greeted him politely as I went to start getting myself into the whole moment.
"Morning, Jace. You look like you had a rough night. Anything particular happened?" He asked me.
I guess my baggy eyes were still showing how much I had been awake all night. So I smiled.
"I'm fine. Nothing happened. I just had a little trouble sleeping." I responded.
"Of course you did. Now I dare say that I wonder if perchance, you heard anything last night that you need clarification on." He said to me, He was making it seem like a statement but I knew he was baiting me and asking me to speak. But alas, I had heard nothing last night, so I had enough to fear right now.
"Nothing at all. I went to bed after my shower which was very long." I said to him,
He was observing me with these keen eyes that seemed as if they were trying to dig into my very soul and purge everything out. I myself was beginning to feel really nervous when I heard someone cry out in serious pain. That was a big distraction but I was confused and worried about whoever that was. Harold was already drying his hands quickly and the urgency in his eyes told me this was scary for him.
"Can I trust you with breakfast?" He demanded.
Trust me? Was he saying that all this while that I have been here, he lacked trust for me? I could hardly say that was not expected because the old man struck me as someone who trusts anyone.
"Sure. I would be able to manage it, Sir." I responded.
That seemed like all he needed as he left without another word said to me. I wanted to ask him if something had happened but I restrained myself. He definitely did not look like he was in the mood to entertain questions at the moment and whatever I dared to say to him might piss him off more than it would seem harmless to him. My best bet at the moment was to keep my mouth shut and watch things unfold themselves.
So, as I had been asked, I started making breakfast. It was almost daylight when the first person came to stand at the door. I looked up and I was not entirely surprised to see Garrett standing there and observing me. The excitement to see him was definitely there but then I thought of how he had treated me that day before and I still did not appreciate being made to feel like I was not important.
"Good morning, Sir. Do you need anything?" I asked him.
He looked amused as he looked out behind him as he was making certain that no one was coming. That was when he came over to me and I was already beginning to chop the vegetables for breakfast. He stood behind me and then brought his lips really close to my ear.
"Sir? Are we being formal now, sweet boy?" He asked me.
"I never thought of us otherwise. I mean, you made certain to make me understand that I had my place and you had yours and right now, I am tasked with fixing breakfast." I said to him,
"You're still mad about yesterday? But then, you were the one who put another man's scent on you." He reminded me.
"I am sorry about that but he also got me a perfume." I said to him,
"So, I take it that you would keep doing it. Even though it displeases me?" He asked me.
"I am not wearing any perfume today and I intend to stop totally. That way, I would not provoke either of you and you would not have reasons to suspect, much less believe that I would ever betray you." I said to him,
Just then, he nibbled sweetly on my ear and his hand went down as he slid his hands inside my pants. The moment his hands touched my male member, I felt an arousal as I suddenly leaned against his shoulder. My eyes were beginning to close as he now started caressing my male member.
"Yet, I can still catch his scent lingering and I wonder what I should do about that. Maybe, I should take this whole thing a notch further and make you mine." He said to me,
That actually excited me but I already knew that no matter what, he would not declare me as his own in the presence of the others. Instead, he was clearly referring to something else and that was because he wanted to make love to me. Whatever I was going to say or the moment between us was, it was suddenly interrupted as we heard someone rushing downstairs.
It was so quick that we were almost caught. Garrett had to turn in the opposite direction and from how he breathed, I felt he was probably aroused too. I had to get closer to the work island to hide mine just as Damon entered.
"Brother!" Garrett said to him but I saw the look on Damon's eyes. He certainly did not seem happy with Garrett and I was beginning to wonder why. Was there any possibility that he saw us?
"Good morning, Sir." I greeted him as he grabbed a bottle of water and started walking away.
"Damon, please can we talk?" Garrett asked him.
Damon simply looked him over and started walking away. Garrett went after him and turned at the door briefly to blow me a kiss.
