Chapter 65 KALTON! BASTARD

Chapter 65 KALTON! BASTARD
Diva stared down at the two nurses who had just walked into her ward. It had been almost a week since she was admitted into the hospital, yet Aaron hadn’t bothered to visit her once. Not even a call. Not a message. Nothing.

She was tired. Tired of waiting. Her hope was fading away....she really was tired of pretending she didn’t feel abandoned. Diva wanted to leave the hospital. She had already missed thousands of missions with the clan, she even barely saw Erica anymore. But at the same time… she had disobeyed Aaron. Getting shot was almost understandable

She groaned.

The dork creaked open and two nale nurses walked in! “Who sent you?” she asked coldly and both men froze instantly.

Diva noticed how their hands paused mid-movement, the clipboard hovering awkwardly in the air. She watched them carefully as they pretended to jot things down on the folder, yet their eyes scanned her body far too much. Slowly. Calculating.

Her unease deepened.

“Weren’t you supposed to be discharged weeks ago?” the first man asked, his tone stiff.

She licked her lips. “Yeah.” Her answer was flat, dismissive.

The two men exchanged quick glances, subtle but noticeable. Diva’s brows furrowed as she studied them closely. Something about their presence felt… off. They were too rigid. Too lifeless. Not like the nurses who had been attending to her since she was brought in
.
“Didn’t you guys know?” she asked, arching a brow. “You’re the ones who treated me. Or at least… you were supposed to.” Suspicion was visible in kher tone, sharp and yet calculating.

They even smelled strange: Cobalt, woods and metals... weren't nurses supposed t smell of disinfectant and iodine? It was overwhelming, far too strong for a hospital environment.

“Oh-true!” they replied in unison. That was when Diva knew something was wrong.

Her memory flickered back to earlier that day. She had been stepped out of her room for fresh air when she saw them walking down the corridor. She had overheard them talking in low voices, too controlled, too alert. Their build had caught her attention then too—broad shoulders, solid frames, nothing like exhausted hospital staff.

Her lips parted, but she snapped them shut instantly.

That was when she saw it.

A tattoo.

Right at the back of one man’s palm. Her breath hitched. She nearly choked on air.

She forced herself to look away, her fingers curling into the bedsheet beneath her, pressing non stop on the emergency button.

“Leave,” she muttered. “I need to sleep.” But neither of the men moved.

Her heart began to race violently against her ribs. Did they suspect her? Or worse, had they already confirmed something?

Her leg was fully healed, but the wound still throbbed faintly. She didn’t want to lift a finger. Not now. Not even here

“Ooh…” the first man muttered.

Diva’s fingers tightened around the emergency button hidden underneath the duvet.

“Just prescribe the drug you gave me last time,” she said softly.

The men exchanged another wary look.

Diva chuckled lightly. “Doctor Ethan?” she asked, her eyes turning cold. “Isn’t he supposed to be the one handling my case today?”

“Rest a bit,” one of them said quickly. “We’ll check on you tomorrow.”

They turned and began to leave but..

Diva’s eyes darkened.

“Where’s Ethan?” she asked again, her voice sharp enough to stop them in their tracks.
If they had hurt him, she wouldn’t let this slide.

The men turned slowly, staring down at her with empty eyes.

“You guys aren’t nurses, right?” she said calmly, dropping the bomb.

Their gazes darkened instantly.

A twisted smile tugged at Diva’s lips.

“Assassins,” she muttered.

.............(FEW HOURS LATER)

Erica stormed into the hospital, still clutching her jacket tightly. She was dressed in her usual dark outfit, her presence heavy, commanding.

“Where are they?” she demanded as a nurse rushed toward her.

“Please keep it down, ma’am-” the nurse began, but Erica stopped abruptly. Her eyes bored into the woman’s soul.

The nurse froze.

“Weren’t you on duty?” Erica asked. “And what exactly did you do?”

The nurse shrank back. “I-I’m sorry…”

“Sorry?” Erica snapped. “Why does everyone keep saying sorry? Sorry won’t bring them back!”

The nurse trembled.

It was the weekend. So the hospital was quiet, empty. No crowd or chaos, except for Jolie and Emily missing. She pushed forward.

That was when Doctor Ethan appeared.

Erica paused.

His arm was in a cast. Her gaze swept over him from head to toe.

“What happened to you?” she asked, disbelief lacing her tone, yet he could only give her a cheeky smile and she laughed.

“Where were the security?” she demanded next.

Ethan froze.

How could he tell her the truth? That he had dismissed them after complaints said they were scaring patients away. That the cameras were being adjusted. That the rooms were supposed to be changed. He never imagined this would happen.

Seeing his silence, Erica sighed deeply, then
Diva stepped forward. “They had dragon tattoos on their hands,” she said quietly.

Erica inhaled sharply. “The footage,” she said. “I need to see it.”

Ethan led them to the security room.

“Rewind,” Erica ordered.
The footage paused.. There: legs shifted uncontrollably. And ID cards on the floor.

“Zoom in,” Erica muttered.

The image expanded. Yet the face wre blurred and unclear. She heaved a sigh. It was nothing useful.

But her thoughts spiraled. Where were the real real nurses? And who were the imposters. Also how was no one able to suspect their insignificantly muscular build? We're everyone here fools?

“Continue,” she said.

The footage played again. The men walked into the ward. Then-black.

The camera crashed.

Erica froze, she cleched her jaw.

Jaxon stepped forward, his eyes dark. “They were on life support,” he said hoarsely. “If they were taken by assassins… doesn’t that mean-”

Erica’s chest tightened painfully. She lowered her gaze, biting her lip.

“We’re really sor-”

“Don’t,” Erica said sharply, raising her hand. She walked out instantly.

Her hands trembled. She felt useless....

BAM!

She collided with someone. She staggered back, clutching her head.

“I’m sorry-” the man said, then froze as tears hit the floor.

“Are you okay?” he asked gently, but Erica shoved his hands away. “I’m fine.”

Her eyes said otherwise. “Did I do something wrong?” he asked.

She sighed. She was exhausted, weak to say another word. Failing everyone she loved.

“No,” she whispered and he walked away.

Then-

Her eyes widened. She remembered what Diva said: he smelled exactly like Cobalt and wood!

Wait, no one was supposed to be let into the hospital! How did he? She soun around rushing to the door. She prayed she catches up to him....but as always he was gone.

Disappeared like she never saw him, worse in board day light.

Then it struck her, she had seen the dragon tatos on him too. He was among those who took Emily and Jolie away.

She staggered, nearly collapsing- but strong hands caught her, but...

They didn’t feel safe.....They made her tummy churn in irritation.

Her eyes lifted slowly.

“Kalton?”
