Chapter 228 The Wild Queen

Chapter 228 The Wild Queen
Kira's POV

The music ended too soon. He handed me back to Adrian with a nod of acceptance.

I immediately whispered to Adrian, “Hurry up the dance. I’m starving.”

We danced like it was on fast-forward…barely following the rhythm, spinning and laughing while guests chuckled at our enthusiasm.

I could hear cheerful mutterings…“Look at them,” and “The Goddess blessed this union.”

Finally, we bowed to each other even before the music fully ended, earning more laughter and applause.

The full celebration exploded around us. Adrian pulled me away under the cover of loud music and dancing bodies.

We snuck out of the hall like mischievous kids. The kitchen was a paradise of prepared food…platters of roasted meats, fresh fruits, breads, and desserts arranged beautifully for the feast.

Adrian flagged down the head kitchen maid. “A set for the Queen, immediately.”

She rushed over with a loaded tray, eyes wide but smiling. Adrian took it from her and pulled me away again.

We found an empty side room, quiet compared to the chaos in the hall. He watched me eat with soft eyes, patting my head gently. “Take it easy, love. Eat as much as you want.”

I barely paused to breathe. This pup growing inside me is worse than a parasite. Always making me hungry.

By the time I finished, Thomas mindlinked Adrian that it was time to greet guests.

“Help me take the veil off entirely,” I said. He did, fingers careful. “And the shoes too,” I added.

Adrian raised an eyebrow. “Barefoot, my Queen?”

“Are you suddenly ashamed of me?” I shot back dramatically. “The woman you knocked up and got pregnant?”

He smiled, tapping my nose. “I don’t care what people think. I’m concerned for you. What if something sharp pierces your foot?”

“I’m fine. The gown covers everything anyway.”

He still looked worried but dropped to one knee and slipped the shoes off gently.

I exhaled in relief as we walked back into the hall hand-in-hand. We were announced again, and the cheers rose even louder.

Food and drinks were being served already as we walked in. Servants carried gifts into an overflowing side room. I was so excited to see what people had brought later.

We entertained guests for what felt like hours…alphas with their lunas, lesser kings and queens, nobles offering congratulations.

Then I saw him approaching with a warm smile, Ronan…Abby’s brother, now King of Ravryn.

He bowed deeply. “Long live the Queen of Draven.”

I smiled back. Adrian was busy with another Alpha nearby but kept his hand linked with mine.

Ronan lowered his voice. “I’m sure my sister would be proud of you, your majesty. When Abby was little, she used to tell me dreams about another girl taking her body. I’m glad you got to live through her. Her life wasn’t entirely wasted.”

A heaviness settled in my chest. “Aren’t you even the tiniest bit sad about Abby?”

He shook his head. “No. Why would I be? Fates are different. I sought a seer when she complained about those dreams constantly. He told me her purpose was to make way for the one who would come after. When her vyris withered… I knew it was done. My only regret is not fighting harder for her to live comfortably. I pray to the Moon Goddess every day that in her next life, she isn’t born into a home that won’t value her.”

I exhaled, pulled my arm from Adrian’s…causing him to stop mid-conversation…and hugged Abby’s brother tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered.

He exhaled, surprised, but hugged back. When we parted, he waved and left.

Adrian took my hand again. “You okay? Hungry?”

“I’m fine. Not hungry… yet.” We both laughed.

I spotted my father and pulled Adrian toward him. The music and celebration still roared grandly. I pulled my father into a tight hug. He reached out and shook Adrian's hand.

Adrian whispered softly, “Thank you… Father-in-law.”

My father groaned. “Don’t call me that. Ever. It doesn’t suit me.”

The three of us laughed. “What should I call you then?” Adrian asked.

“Well, just call me Kira’s Dad.”

Adrian said it out loud, scratched the back of his neck, and shrugged. “Fine, if that’s what you want, Kira's Dad.”

We stood together, smiling at each other’s faces.

Yes. This is a life I will gladly fight for. I have my two men beside me and a kingdom that is ours to grow.

‘Hold on? Grow? Why would I want to grow it when I can just sell it to the highest human contractor bidder and run away to a private island? Muahahahaha,’ I thought as I cackled evilly inside my head like a deluded schemer.

Leah sighed dramatically, stretching like she had been resting all along. ‘I’ve officially given up on you, Kira. I won't even try anymore.’

Before I could respond to her, Adrian pulled me closer. Warmth spread through my whole body at his touch.

Leah added almost immediately, ‘It may take a while, but I’m putting my trust in Adrian to tame you. Because you are crazy!’

Outside, I kept the picture-perfect calm face expected of every queen. Inside, the evil laugh continued at Leah's outburst.

This really was the happy ending we all deserved…messy, loud, loving, and completely ours.
