Chapter 218 Finally Awake

Chapter 218 Finally Awake
Kira’s POV

I woke up alone in our room, gasping like I’d just broken the surface after drowning.

My chest heaved, pulling in sharp, desperate breaths of cool air that tasted faintly of lavender from the bedding. No dream. Nothing. Just this heavy, blank void that spat me back out feeling... different.

Somehow, I felt stronger. Like every muscle and bone had been rewired overnight.

My skin tingled with energy I couldn’t explain, buzzing under the surface like I’d chugged ten energy drinks and bench-pressed a truck.

It feels strange…in that refreshing way. Like I'm a witch that just renewed her youth by carrying out some sacrificial ritual or something.

‘Of course,’ Leah’s voice scoffed inside my head, dry as desert sand. ‘Here you go again, thinking the most impossible, batshit scenarios. You didn’t sacrifice a goat under a full moon, Kira. You just got pumped full of Adrian’s blood. That’s why you feel like a goddess on steroids.’

I blinked hard, sitting up slowly. The silk sheets slid off my legs, cool and smooth.

“Blood? Wait…am I a vampire now? Did I miss the part where my heart stops beating?” I placed my palm over my chest just in case. Normal. Thank God.

Leah groaned dramatically, the mental sound like nails on a chalkboard mixed with pure exhaustion.

‘Is this seriously who I’m stuck with for the rest of my very long life? A woman who jumps straight to fantasies instead of using basic logic?’

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stretched, arms reaching high until my spine popped satisfyingly.

The movement sent a pleasant ripple of power through me. “Stop scolding me, Leah. Just tell me what the hell happened. Why did the baby cause that insane pain earlier?”

I placed my hand gently over my belly, feeling the soft curve there. Warmth pulsed back at me..tiny, steady, alive. It grounded me instantly, a quiet anchor in the chaos.

Leah sighed, her tone softening just a fraction. ‘You got some of Adrian’s blood. That’s the only thing that calmed the pup down. Royal blood recognizes royal blood. The little one was throwing a tantrum because it probably needed what only its father could give.’

I stared at the wall, my hand still resting protectively on my stomach. “Why the hell would a baby in my womb want blood? Is this what I think it is? Like some creepy…”

‘It’s definitely not whatever dramatic horror movie plot you’re cooking up in there,’ Leah cut in, tired but firm. ‘You needed royal blood in your veins because you’re carrying a royal pup. Simple as that. Your body was struggling. The transfusion fixed it.’

My mouth formed a perfect “O” as the pieces slammed together.

Then, fresh realization hit like cold water to the face. “Oh my God. Adrian... he gave me his blood?”

I scrambled out of bed, bare feet hitting the cool marble floor. “I have to see him.” But the second I stood upright, the room swayed violently. Colors blurred at the edges of my vision, and my knees buckled.

I grabbed my head with both hands, pressing hard, willing the dizziness to pass. The world spun for a few long seconds…heart pounding in my ears…before everything settled. I took a deep breath, shook it off, and moved.

After a quick freshen-up…splashing cold water on my face that woke me fully, brushing my teeth, and throwing on a simple robe…I dashed out of the room, heart racing with urgency.

The corridors were alive. Servants hurried past with wide, excited smiles plastered on their faces.

Their eyes lit up when they saw me. “Your Majesty!” one young woman whispered, clutching linens to her chest.

Others bowed deeply, murmuring greetings that buzzed with genuine joy. Something else hung in the air…anticipation.

Are they throwing a party or something?

My steps slowed as I took in the decorations. Beautiful garlands of fresh camellias draped along the walls, their soft white and pink petals releasing a sweet, floral scent that mixed with polished wood and candle wax.

Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, catching morning light and throwing rainbows across the floors. Banners with intricate wolf and lunar symbols hung proudly. It was stunning, regal, and way too much for a random Tuesday.

I spotted Thomas down the corridor, his posture straight as ever.

The moment he saw me, his entire face lit up like a kid on Christmas. “Your Majesty! You are awake! Finally!”

He rushed closer, practically beaming. “The king was right. He believed you would wake up soon!”

I smiled back, warmth spreading through me despite the lingering dizziness. “Where is Adrian, Thomas?”

“He must be in his study, Your Majesty. He almost lost his mind when you wouldn’t wake up because of the pup. He even instructed that the pup be removed so you could wake up before the sorceresses brought up the blood transfusion option...”

Thomas rambled on excitedly, admiration thick in his voice. “He told us not to stop until you’d gotten enough blood. He didn’t leave your side for a second—”

My mind snagged hard on one part. “He wanted to remove my baby?” The words came out sharp and heat flared in my chest. What? Has he lost his damn mind?

Thomas kept going, oblivious to my rising fury. “And all these preparations? They’re for your coronation in three days. The king singlehandedly instructed every detail…down to your royal attire and even the crown. We have never seen the king like that. He almost lost his mind...”

I was already moving, feet carrying me toward the study with purpose. “Oh, yes. He will lose his mind soon,” I muttered darkly.

Thomas gulped visibly behind me. “I said something I wasn’t supposed to say, didn’t I?” he mumbled but I didn’t stop.

After navigating turns and corridors filled with more bowing pack members…each one offering bright smiles and well-wishes…I reached the heavy wooden door of his study.

I pushed it open, ready to storm in and give him a piece of my very wild, very pissed-off mind.

How could he even think of doing that to our child?

But the second I stepped inside, the fight drained from me.

Adrian sat slumped in his chair, head tilted to one side, eyes closed. He looked...pale. Too pale. Like all the life had been drained from him. My knees nearly gave out.

“Adrian?” I scurried over, voice cracking with sudden panic.

He stayed motionless, like he was trapped in some deep trance, mumbling softly under his breath. I reached his side and touched his arm lightly. “What’s the problem? Talk to me.”

He kept whispering the same thing: “Wake up... please wake up...”

Fear clawed up my throat. Why was he like this? I moved closer, but suddenly his arms shot out and pulled me down into his lap with surprising strength.

He cradled me close, nuzzling desperately into my neck, his breath hot against my skin. “Wake up,” he yelled hoarsely, voice breaking. “I miss you, princess. Wake up.”

Tears stung my eyes. I touched his cheeks lightly…they were burning up, fever-hot and clammy. “Adrian...”

His eyes fluttered but didn’t focus. I slapped his cheeks lightly, trying to rouse him. “Wake up, damn it!”

His head only lolled to the side. My heart dropped straight to my stomach, a cold, heavy stone. No. What if he's dying?!

I grabbed his ear firmly and yelled right into it, “Wake up, Adrian!”

His eyes snapped open immediately, alert and wild as he scanned the room in confusion. “Princess?” he called softly, his hand coming up to touch my cheek like I might vanish. “You’re awake? This is not a dream... right?” His voice was a whisper, eyes welling up with unshed tears.

I couldn’t hold back anymore. All thoughts of yelling at him for the pup comment flew out the window. I hugged him tight, burying my face in his shoulder.

He looked so exhausted, so pale. I rocked him gently, running my fingers through his messy hair as I felt his body tremble against mine.

His grip tightened around my waist like he was afraid I’d disappear.

“You're awake,” he whispered again as I felt his breathing becoming slower.
