Chapter 83 Pursuing the Wife
The words from this refined-looking man made Alice's eyes flash with delight at her successful plastic surgery.
But just as she was about to move closer, she saw him step back several paces in disgust.
As if she were something revolting and filthy.
"Sorry, I mistook you for someone else." The man frowned and quickly walked away.
As he got in his car, the man suddenly turned around, his suspicious gaze falling on Alice's back.
This woman's eyes were actually ninety percent similar to Sophia's.
Was it a coincidence, or was it intentional?
Those gentle, deep blue eyes showed little emotion.
"Look into this woman."
The airport incident didn't leave much of an impression on Alice, but it gave her more confidence.
She had originally wanted to get plastic surgery to look exactly like Sophia, but the doctor insisted that her bone structure wasn't good enough.
Even with forced surgery, she wouldn't achieve the desired effect.
The only place where she could achieve similarity to Sophia was her eyes!
So after repairing the skin on her face, Alice had several more surgeries done on her eyes.
Until they reached ninety percent similarity to Sophia's almond-shaped eyes.
"Sophia, you owe me all of this." This was all Alice could think about now.
The top floor of Liberty Tower overlooked the most prosperous night scene of Empire City.
Across from it stood Peace Group, which controlled more than half of the nation's economic lifeline.
And at this moment, the CEO of Peace Group had a cold expression on his face, looking at a man kneeling in the dim lights in the distance.
"Sophia, please, let me see Linda."
"I can't live without her."
Sophia had arranged to meet Harper here for dinner today, but who knew she'd run into Alvin in the elevator as soon as she arrived.
He was like a sneaky rat, his eyes lighting up when he saw her.
But no matter what Alvin said, Sophia didn't give him a pleasant look.
Her face was cold, as if she'd never known him. "Move aside."
Alvin moved forward two steps on his knees, reaching out to grab Sophia's sleeve, but failing.
He lowered his eyes regretfully, "Sophia, I know I was wrong!"
"Please, for my sister's sake, give me another chance. I'll change, I promise!"
Hearing him mention her late friend, Sophia's eyes darkened. She took a deep breath and said, "Alvin, if your sister were still alive, she'd be the first one who'd want to kill you."
Alvin's handsome face went pale, instantly understanding the deeper meaning in her words.
Seeing Sophia pulling and tugging with that man again, William's heart hurt even more than last time.
But he still couldn't control his legs from walking in her direction.
The closer he got, the clearer he could hear the conversation.
"I really know I was wrong, please don't ignore me."
"Sophia, you cared about me, too."
"Remember that oil painting you bought me for my birthday? It's still hanging in my living room!"
Alvin tried to find memories from his past where Sophia had treated him as Michael.
Little did he know that all her kindness toward him was because of his sister Seraphine.
Because Seraphine never accepted the thank-you gifts Sophia bought for her, she could only repay her by giving gifts to Alvin instead.
Thinking of Seraphine, who died young, Alvin felt sad too.
Before Seraphine died, he had promised her he would take good care of Linda and build a happy family with her.
But what happened?
Seraphine was gone, Linda didn't want him, and even Sophia didn't want to deal with him.
He raised his head, tears streaming down, his voice choked and helpless, "Sophia, you're all I have left..."
Thinking of her late friend, a look of confusion crossed Sophia's face.
In William's eyes, she had probably been successfully "seduced" by Alvin's charm.
At this moment, Alvin's face was full of regret and panic, his gaze anxious and uneasy.
His hand wanted to grab Sophia's sleeve, but he didn't dare reach out, his tear-filled eyes staring fixedly at the woman standing before him.
Sophia's beauty was truly outstanding.
As soon as she appeared in the restaurant, she attracted quite a bit of attention. Combined with Alvin kneeling, the scene looked like a young man trying to win back his lover's heart.
"Oh my god! Is this a live wife-chasing scene?"
"This Miss is so cool and beautiful! I feel my heart stirring!"
"Look! That man walking toward them is absolutely gorgeous! The guy kneeling is just good-looking at best. He and that Miss look perfect together!"
It was at this moment that William appeared beside Sophia, also entering the view of the onlookers.
They say a black suit is a man's armor.
At this moment, these words couldn't be more fitting for William.
Already tall and well-built, he looked even more impressive in a suit, radiating an incomparable noble aura.
William's expression was stern, his thin lips pressed tight. In his suit, facing the disheveled, kneeling Alvin, his powerful presence made the latter want to bow in submission.
He smiled faintly, "Mr. Jordan kneels quite well. You must make mistakes often."
Sophia also turned to look at him, not understanding why he came over.
In William's mind, that pitch-black door was suddenly pushed open by invisible hands.
The emotions that rushed in reached their peak the moment he saw Alvin kneeling and Sophia's confused expression.
The usually calm and composed man showed his anger in public for the first time, his voice filled with disdain and cold indifference.
"Mr. Jordan just let down a friend he grew up with, and now he wants to harm someone else's wife?"
"When did I harm..."
Alvin's words stopped when he saw Sophia beside William.
Don't forget, he was also a fearless madman.
The helplessness of not finding his lover for days, plus the disappointment of being rejected by Sophia, turned into a wild wind at this moment, sweeping away the last bit of reason in his mind.
He actually talked back right in front of William, refusing to back down.
"I remember Sophia divorced Mr. Smith two years ago. I don't know if Mr. Smith is too important to remember things, or too old to recall, but why is he claiming random wives?"
William's eyes became sharper, and he scoffed mockingly, "That's still better than someone who drove his girlfriend to death."
Sophia grabbed William's arm and said coldly, "Enough."
She knew that with her strength, she couldn't possibly pull William, so she didn't use much force. But surprisingly, William's steps faltered, and he was actually pulled aside by her.
"You like Alvin?" William's low, husky voice was pleasant but carried a chill.
Sophia glanced at him coolly, "Looking for trouble."
She had just come to have dinner with a good friend, not expecting to run into acquaintances one after another.
Sophia's gaze turned to the night view outside the window, and she happened to see the lit-up "Peace Group" sign across the way.
Only then did she realize.
No wonder she'd only been to this restaurant twice and run into William each time.
His company was right across the street.
William had been staring at her the whole time, so naturally, he didn't miss the reaction in Sophia's eyes. So she had even forgotten that his company was across from Liberty Tower?
Realizing this, William felt even more irritated.
A subtle atmosphere lingered among the three of them.
Just then, a man's appearance broke the stalemate.
