Chapter 70 The Mysterious Honey Is Actually

Chapter 70 The Mysterious Honey Is Actually

The next morning.

James brought Michael and Emily to the hospital room early.

William's eyes fell on the doorway, and he asked casually, "Where's your mom?"

James looked up and said, "Mom went to the airport to pick someone up."

Michael happily shared, "Dad, Mom said she's going to introduce James and me to someone very important!"

William suddenly thought of the phone call Sophia received yesterday, and the excitement and joy in her voice.

Emily heard what James and Michael said, tilted her head, and added, "It's honey..."

At those words, William's eyes narrowed sharply, his nerves tensed, and another question suddenly popped into his mind.

What if Sophia hadn't registered a marriage, but was just with a man?

Just thinking about that possibility made William feel like something was stuck in his throat.

An indescribable tidal wave of emotion exploded in his heart, nearly drowning his rationality. Suppressing the surging thoughts inside, he gently lifted Emily into his arms.

She let out a surprised sound as she was suddenly lifted into the air.

Emily turned to see it was William, kicked her little legs twice, and obediently settled in his arms.

She looked at him with her bright, watery eyes in confusion, "William?"

William touched the fluffy hair on top of her head and asked softly, "Emily, can you tell me who your mom's honey is?"

Emily's language skills were more developed than other one-year-olds, and she immediately understood what William meant.

Emily broke into a bright smile, "Honey, Mommy likes."

She added another sentence: "I like too."

William felt a stifling pressure stuck in his throat that he couldn't release.

Compared to William's cold face in the hospital room and the oblivious children, Sophia, on the other side, was genuinely happy.

As soon as she arrived at the airport, she saw her good friend already waiting at the exit.

The person had neat short hair, a casual androgynous outfit that showed a bold and free spirit, and a beautiful face that was hard to identify as male or female, quite striking in the crowd.

Harper Anderson waved at her: "Soph, I'm here!"

The two friends who hadn't seen each other in years hugged tightly.

Sophia wore a light gray linen dress, and even without makeup, she was still breathtakingly beautiful like a fairy.

The two were beauties of different styles, but equally attracted the attention of people around them.

Harper was a landscape photographer who flew around the world every year. Her work always had a soul-stirring impact, but few people knew that this internationally renowned photography master was actually a woman.

"Soph, let's go back quickly. I really miss our baby girl and sons."

Harper was also Emily's godmother.

Although she wasn't often in the country, gifts from around the world arrived every month.

"The kids are at the lab. You'll see them as soon as we get back."

"Then let's hurry. I bought our girl a pink raw stone, and for our James and Michael I bought..."

Back at the lab.

Sophia first took her friend to the guest room to freshen up, "You wash up and rest first. I'll go pick up the kids."

Harper said eagerly, "Go, go quickly."

But as soon as she opened the door, she saw one adult and three children at the entrance. Emily was being held by William, with James and Michael standing on either side of him, all looking at her with wide eyes.

Suddenly seeing four pairs of similar eyes, Sophia felt momentarily dazed.

James spoke first, "Mom, you're back."

Sophia smiled and nodded.

Emily reached out her hands toward her from William's arms, and Sophia quickly went to hold Emily.

William's gaze swept over the tall figure that flashed by in the guest room, his thin lips pressed tight, the pressure around him growing heavier.

That guest room was where Sophia would sometimes sleep when she worked late on experiments and didn't want to wake the children.

Even William had never stayed in it.

But now another man was staying there.

"William, let go."

"William?"

William suddenly snapped back to attention and saw two similar faces, one big and one small, full of confusion.

The child's arms were already around Sophia's neck, but her legs were still held by him, looking at him with complete puzzlement.

He quickly let go and said, "Sorry, I was lost in thought."

Sophia stepped aside to let James and Michael come in.

William still stood at the door, looking down at the joy and relaxation in her eyes, but all of this was the good mood given to her by another man.

Michael asked curiously, "Mom, is the person you picked up back?"

Sophia touched his head and said softly, "Yes, she's taking a shower. I'll introduce you in a bit."

She smiled at James and Michael, "From now on, you'll have another family member with you. Mom believes you'll like her."

Sophia's words were like an arrow piercing straight through William's heart.

William's face was as calm as a blade's edge, his eyes brewing a storm, but his expression remained calm on the surface.

Until Sophia put her gaze back on William and told him, "William, it's not convenient for you to come in today. Please go back to your hospital room and rest."

Rationality and anger were in a tug-of-war in his mind.

The evenly matched balance was completely broken by her words.

William's face turned extremely cold, like frost frozen in winter, and even his voice carried ice shards that could freeze one's heart.

"Why isn't it convenient? Because there's another man?"

Sophia didn't want to argue with him today. She put Emily down and had her take James and Michael to the living room to play.

She directly grabbed William's sleeve and pulled him outside under a tree.

William's eyes grew even darker, his calm expression disappeared completely, anger overcame reason, rushing to the walls around his heart, releasing powerful and unconcealed emotions.

He stepped forward and pressed her against the tree trunk, one hand behind her waist, blocking the rough texture of the bark for her.

William said coldly, "What, afraid the person inside will find out you're entangled with your ex-husband?"

Strong hormones hit her face. Sophia looked up and met William's eyes, stunned by the undercurrents within them.

She turned her face away and said flatly, "Don't overthink it. The person I'm introducing to the kids knows about you and me."

William's eyes were as deep as the sea, his hoarse voice tight with tension, "You're going to introduce him to James and Michael?"

Sophia nodded, "Yes, this person is a very important family member to me. I hope the people I care about most can get to know each other, and since this person won't be going abroad for a while, and James and Michael are staying with me, it's perfect..."

William's other hand at his side suddenly clenched into a fist. He no longer dared to overestimate his self-control.

In front of Sophia, he had always been completely defeated.

William felt his vision darkening, his chest extremely tight, heart palpitations, sweating, trembling hands - the symptoms that had finally healed seemed to be making a comeback.

The air was filled with tension. His face was cold and stern as he gritted his teeth.

The phone in his pocket vibrated. Sophia couldn't care about William's disturbed emotions. Seeing "Harper" calling, she quickly answered, covering the mouthpiece and responding quietly to the side.

"At the door, coming back now."

"Once you've comforted my James and Michael, you can finally be their..."

Before she could finish, William's face turned dark, and he collapsed toward her. Sophia quickly caught him.

"William!"
