Chapter 46 William Encounters a Confession Scene
She couldn't figure out what he meant on the other end of the phone. Her last question came out anxiously, afraid he would kick her out of the Smith Mansion and cut off her connection.
William's voice was cold: "Thank you for saving the child before."
Alice's anxious heart settled. The moment the call ended, her eyes filled with vicious and ruthless darkness.
She looked at the video sent by the private detective on her phone. After William went home with Sophia yesterday, he never left her place.
This morning, he even had Tony come over to get his luggage.
It looked like William planned to stay at her place long-term.
No way!
She couldn't let everything she had be destroyed. She had worked so hard to get where she was now.
She absolutely couldn't let William and Sophia have too much contact. What if they rekindled their old flame and came clean about everything? With William's personality, what would be left for her!
[Quick! Release those videos of Sophia.]
After sending the message, Alice showed a confident smile.
On the other side, Sophia had just finished reading Raymond's examination report. His bodily functions were fine, but he just wouldn't wake up.
She had already arranged for her assistant to take him to ZN Laboratory, which had the most advanced equipment and medical talent in the world.
Tomorrow, the assistant would arrange a comprehensive physical examination for Raymond. Once the data report came out, she would need to go there in person, too.
At least two days, at most a week.
She could take Emily with her to stay there, but James and Michael had school...
Sophia thought maybe she could find a holiday to do this?
But before dealing with this matter, she needed to repay a favor first.
As soon as James and Michael got home from school, they rushed into the guest room.
Their eyes lit up when they saw William handling work.
Michael threw himself into William's arms, asking worriedly, "Dad, are you feeling better?"
William chatted with the two children in the guest room for a long time. When Allan came to call them for dinner, James and Michael each held one of his hands, leading him to the dining room for dinner together.
As soon as they left the room, they smelled the rich aroma of food.
James and Michael, who had been at school all day, were already drawn in by the food.
"Mom! Are we having health-boosting soup again today?"
Sophia had just come out of the kitchen and nodded with a smile, "Does James not like it?"
James shook his head, "No, I like it."
After the twins recovered and came back, Sophia would regularly make soup for them, a perfect blend of food and medicine, maximizing the benefits.
The key was that these foods tasted really good, and both children loved drinking them.
William hadn't known about Sophia making soup for the children before.
But during this time, James and Michael's health had indeed improved a lot. They had fewer colds and fevers, which showed that Sophia was being a much more qualified mother than before.
Michael handed his bowl of soup to him, eyes full of concern.
"Dad, Mom says drinking this soup is good for your health."
"You haven't been well lately, so you can have my bowl."
The usually cold William showed a smile, patted Michael's head, and felt quite pleased.
"This is soup Mom specially made for you. You drink it yourself, it's okay."
Sophia came over, holding Emily, and saw this scene of fatherly love and filial piety.
William's eyes, deep as a cold pool, quietly looked at her, thinking about something unknown.
Eating at the same table with William again, Sophia's expression remained calm, as if her eyes only held her three children, treating him as if he were invisible.
The family ate together, the children chattering noisily, the adults eating with their heads down - it had a strange kind of harmony.
By the next morning, after William left, Sophia finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After dropping off the children and returning home, Sophia rarely put on delicate makeup and changed into relatively formal clothes.
She drove alone to a building in the city center.
The revolving restaurant on the top floor of this building was quite famous in Empire City. Most customers were corporate CEOs, industry elites, and wealthy young people.
When Sophia arrived, Alvin Jordan was already there.
His sister Seraphine Jordan was her college roommate who had helped her once. Their relationship was pretty good. Except for the two years Sophia was away, they basically kept in touch.
Seraphine died of cancer. Before dying, she asked her for one thing.
If Alvin ever needed her help in the future, please help him as much as possible for the sake of their friendship.
Alvin knew about this, too.
Repaying a debt - that was why Sophia was here today.
Alvin looked haggard, his cheeks sunken. Clearly, he hadn't rested well for days. When he saw her, it was like seeing a lifeline.
"Sophia, I'm begging you! Please help me!"
"I know you know people at ZN Laboratory. Please help me save someone..."
When he mentioned this person, his eyes filled with regret and bitterness.
After hearing his story.
Sophia asked coolly: "Are you sure that the girl you let down, who would rather die than escape from you, really wants to wake up?"
Alvin's face turned pale. He seemed to think of something, and his whole body slumped powerlessly in the chair, looking at her helplessly.
"Sophia, I just want her to live."
Sophia looked at the clever younger brother her old friend used to mention all the time, who had ultimately gone down the path of a playboy.
"Knowing she couldn't handle it, why were you so unfaithful back then?"
"I..." Alvin couldn't give a reason.
Even though he was her friend's brother, Sophia's attitude toward him remained cold and distant. After hearing what he said, there was an added touch of mockery.
"I'll save her, but only for your sister's sake."
Hearing this, Alvin's eyes burst with intense joy and excitement.
He nodded eagerly, "I know, I know, thank you, Sophia."
"But starting today, there's no relationship between you and me. You don't need to contact me again in the future."
Sophia got up to leave, and Alvin hurried after her.
He asked anxiously, "Sophia, how will I know if she's woken up? Can I stay with her..."
The concern in Alvin's urgent words didn't seem fake.
Sophia stopped and looked at the deep love in his eyes for the girl he had hurt, and gave a light snort.
Belated affection is cheaper than grass.
Her voice dropped: "If she dies, someone will contact you."
"If no one contacts you, she's alive. She doesn't want to see you. You know the reason in your heart."
Sophia couldn't understand how Seraphine, such a good girl, could have such a bastard brother.
Alvin chased her all the way to the elevator, still not giving up.
He still firmly believed that broken mirrors could definitely be mended!
He only knew Sophia had connections with ZN Laboratory, but didn't know she was the founder.
Alvin wanted to use her to get news about his beloved in the future.
He grabbed Sophia's arm, begging desperately.
"Sophia, for the sake of our past connection, please don't block me. I promise I won't bother you after this."
"Just give me an update once in a while, and I'll be satisfied."
"I really..." love her.
As long as he knew when she woke up, when she was discharged.
He would have a chance to prove himself again, turn over a new leaf, and definitely wouldn't repeat his mistakes.
Before Sophia could answer, the elevator doors in front of them opened.
A pair of cool, composed eyes fell on Alvin's hand gripping her arm, a faint trace of self-mockery flashing in their depths.
William was still in a black custom-tailored suit, with an elegant bearing and powerful presence. He walked toward them with steady steps.
"Excuse me, let me through."
