Chapter 314 William, What Are You Hiding From?

Chapter 314 William, What Are You Hiding From?

After settling matters at the experimental base, Sophia took Emily back to Rain Village.

As soon as they entered the village, they saw cars parked all over the entrance.

Sophia got out of the car holding Emily and met Ryan's gaze head-on. She frowned and said, "What are you doing here?"

Ryan had all kinds of connections with the Morris family. Even though he was once a child her mother had brought home, Sophia still couldn't bring herself to look at him kindly.

Emily looked curiously at the strikingly handsome Ryan.

"I know you don't want to see me, but surely you'd be interested in hearing about something related to Nova?"

Ryan's confident voice stopped short after hearing Sophia's response.

She said coldly, "Since you know I don't want to see you, and you still came, that's just asking to be annoying."

Hearing her blunt words, a meaningful look flashed through Ryan's eyes.

In the past, women around him always presented their most beautiful and dignified selves.

Even if they didn't like his personality.

Everyone tacitly maintained surface-level courtesy and manners.

No one had ever been as direct as her.

Ryan composed himself and patiently explained the purpose of his visit.

He was still holding a black wooden box, something that had been passed to him through various hands.

"Haven't you been looking for something?"

"Perhaps it's this."

Whether it was years ago or when he recently met Isolde, she had mentioned something multiple times.

According to her, it was the payment Mira should have given her, but it never materialized.

This made her feel she'd fallen for Mira's scheme.

So back then, after Isolde found out the item wasn't with Sophia, she unceremoniously kicked her out of Franklin Villa, where she'd been staying.

So many years had passed since then.

Sophia had indeed secretly sent people to look for this item, but there had been no news.

She had basically given up hope on this matter.

She never expected the item would end up in Ryan's hands through various channels.

Her gaze swept back and forth across Ryan's face, weighing the truthfulness and purpose behind his words.

Could it be that Mira had known her mother's identity all along?

Just as Sophia reached for it, Ryan pulled his hand away, enjoying the look of pure annoyance on her face.

He smiled and said, "I've been waiting here for you for over an hour. Surely I can have a glass of water?"

Sophia fell silent.

The living room was quiet.

Ryan sat silently on the sofa, with a glass of water on the table in front of him.

After entering, he had handed the black wooden box to Sophia and hadn't done anything else.

Sophia opened the box and saw a bracelet inside that was crystal clear with excellent water content. She searched her memory for anything about this item, but had no recollection of it whatsoever.

She could be certain she had never seen this object around Nova.

If it was ultimately meant for her, then why would Mira rather pass it through many hands to get it to Ryan, instead of leaving it directly to her?

Did this bracelet bring some kind of danger? Or was there some other secret?

Emily was holding her own little fox water cup, sitting on her little deer chair across from him, hands on the table, her clear and bright big eyes curiously staring at Ryan in front of her.

"Sir, why aren't you drinking your water?"

Ryan looked at the still-steaming hot water in front of him and smiled. It wasn't that he didn't want to drink it, but at this temperature, if he drank it, he could forget about keeping his throat.

He could see just how much Sophia resisted the Morris family in her heart.

Ryan looked into Emily's bright eyes, pressed his lips together, and curved them into a smile, saying to her, "I'll drink it in a bit."

Emily drank from her cup of perfectly warm water, looking at Ryan's slightly dry lips across from her. Though she didn't understand, she still nodded.

Ryan didn't keep staring at Sophia—that wouldn't be very polite.

He glanced at the furnishings in the room. Although the house was small, everything inside looked very warm and cozy.

Most of it was Emily's toys.

"Emily." Ryan's lazy voice carried a trace of imperceptible emotion.

Emily looked up at him questioningly.

Ryan was looking at her strangely.

As if he was seeing someone else who wasn't there through her.

Emily's little head turned from side to side as she asked in a small voice, "Sir, who are you looking at?"

Ryan thought to himself: 'Emily's powers of observation are surprisingly sharp.'

Across the table, Ryan's lips curved even more obviously, "I'm looking at you."

His voice, tinged with a slight laugh, was pleasant and comfortable, easily drawing people into the atmosphere he created.

But Emily, in front of him, wasn't fooled at all.

Emily pressed her lips together and said, "Sir, it's not nice to lie to kids."

She might be young, but she wasn't stupid.

Amused by the little expression on the child's face, Ryan had someone bring the gifts he'd prepared for the child—all the latest toys on the market.

But Emily clearly didn't lack these things. She glanced at them once and lost interest, looking away.

She turned to look at Sophia, who was studying the bracelet, then dragged her little deer chair bit by bit over to Ryan's side, gazing seriously into his eyes and saying, "Sir, do you want to be my daddy too?"

Meeting Emily's curious eyes, Ryan touched her head.

He also lowered his voice like hers and asked, "What if I said yes?"

Emily showed a cute little expression that said, 'I knew it.'

She pulled out a small notebook from the front pocket of her orange overalls and carefully wrote down a number, then handed it to Ryan in front of her.

Emily said, "Sir, this is your queue number."

Looking at the bold 666 on it, Ryan glanced sideways at Emily in front of him, wondering if she was deliberately cursing him out or really didn't know the meaning behind this number.

"My mommy has so many people who like her, you can't cut in line."

Seeing Emily's mischievous expression up close, paired with her serious voice.

He couldn't help thinking, if Nova and Miguel hadn't had so many setbacks, would this adorable girl in front of him be his daughter?

A manor in Suncrest City.

William, who had just come out from inside, felt that urge to sneeze coming on again.

It was like the uncomfortable feeling of having his treasure eyed by someone.

He thought of his son in Empire City, and Sophia and Emily far away in Cloud City. Those bright eyes suddenly dimmed.

In a while, once things settled down, it would be fine.

Suddenly, a deliberately lowered voice came from behind. William's eyes darkened, and he dodged before the person could get close.

The girl who'd missed him pouted unhappily, staring at him and demanding, "William, what are you dodging for?"
