Chapter 50 Sophia's Marital Infidelity
Emily sensed William's intense emotional turmoil and knew something had happened to James and Michael. She nestled obediently in his arms.
William left immediately, carrying Emily back to the Smith Mansion.
As soon as Alice heard the car, she rushed over from the annex building. Her face lit up with a smile when she saw William, but darkened when she spotted Emily in his arms. Suppressing the jealousy in her heart, she stepped forward.
"William, where are James and Michael? I haven't seen them in so long. I really miss them."
William's gaze was deep and cold. Without answering her question directly, he walked straight past her.
Tony was leading people in a search outside, and they had already combed through all the abandoned factories. They found James and Michael's backpacks in one factory, and things were starting to become clearer.
William came back to get an important document and was about to leave again.
He had planned to have someone take Emily back to the Johnson Villa first.
But Emily seemed to know that something had happened to James and Michael. She clung tightly to his neck, refusing to let go, mumbling about finding them.
Watching the black Maybach drive away, Alice gritted her teeth with an angry expression.
She pulled out her phone and called someone in the shadows, her voice cold and ruthless. "Watch those kids closely. Don't let the Smith family find them!"
Sophia had just landed when she received the news.
She immediately had Rat check all the city's surveillance footage. Soon, she received the same surveillance videos William had seen.
That woman in the back seat... she felt like she had seen her somewhere before. Very familiar.
The woman's imitation of her wasn't actually very good, but because they were in a car and the children were innocent, they were tricked into getting in.
As for that factory, it was just a diversion.
She had Monkey take people to search the mountains behind the factory, while having Rat closely monitor Alice's call records. Sure enough, they found clues.
Learning that her daughter was with William, she felt a bit more at ease.
Sophia went straight to the Smith Mansion with her people. The butler and guards were familiar faces and let her through immediately.
Seeing her unfriendly expression, butler Patrick hurried forward. "Mrs. Smith, Mr. Smith isn't home right now. Is there anything I can help with?"
Her face and voice were cold. "Where's Alice?"
Patrick replied, "Ms. Rivera is resting in the annex building. Do you need me to call..."
Sophia raised her hand to stop his suggestion and went directly with Monkey and the others to the annex building Patrick mentioned, which was where the servants lived.
She hadn't expected Alice to be living here.
Alice had just finished her phone call and was in her room, in a good mood, waiting to reap the fruits of victory, when she heard her door being kicked open.
She trembled with fright.
Seeing Sophia, her expression changed. "What are you doing here? Who let you come?"
The guards didn't enter the room.
Only Monkey stayed inside with Sophia.
Sophia's eyes were ice cold, staring unblinkingly at Alice. She gave Monkey a look, and he immediately stepped forward and grabbed Alice's chin.
A black pill was shoved into Alice's mouth.
Monkey let go and stepped back beside Sophia.
Alice clutched her throat, trying to spit out the black pill, but it was no use.
Sophia sat in a chair, looking down at her current mess. "Where are James and Michael?"
Panic flashed in Alice's eyes. She couldn't even worry about spitting out the black pill anymore and said urgently, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Sophia, if William finds out you treated me like this, he definitely won't let you off!"
Hearing this, Sophia laughed mockingly.
"Don't worry. Whether he lets me off or not, I don't know, but you don't have many days left to live."
Alice stared at her with a pale face, her voice panicked. "You crazy woman, what did you make me eat!"
Sophia said coldly, "Nothing much. Just poison."
Hearing her words, Alice's hand supporting her on the ground, went weak. A dense, painful sensation appeared in her chest, like hundreds and thousands of insects gnawing at her heart. It was both itchy and painful, making her so uncomfortable that her scalp went numb.
"You! Give me the antidote now!"
Sophia was amused by her words. She glanced at her watch, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes filled with frost that chilled to the bone.
"You have two minutes. Tell me where my sons are."
Alice still wanted to deny it.
But Sophia didn't believe a word she said.
Just then, William rushed over with Emily.
"William, save me!"
Alice lunged toward him like he was a lifeline.
Worried that Emily in his arms might get bumped, William shifted to the side with her, and Alice fell flat on the floor.
She looked up in disbelief. "William?"
William gave Patrick a look, and he helped her up.
Those cold, deep almond-shaped eyes lost their frost when they saw Emily in William's arms. Sophia walked over and took Emily from him.
Emily had been sleeping on William's shoulder.
Earlier, no matter what William said, she wouldn't let go and would wake up immediately if she sensed he was about to put her on the bed.
Emily looked at him with hurt eyes. "Find James and Michael."
Smelling the familiar scent, Emily opened her eyes. Seeing Sophia, she immediately let go of William's neck.
Emily threw herself into her arms, her eyes red.
"Mommy, I want to find James and Michael."
Sophia comforted Emily for a while, then handed her to Monkey behind her. They were familiar with each other, and Emily didn't reject Monkey.
In fact, at this moment, Emily was even closer to Monkey than to William.
William's cool eyes swept between Sophia and Monkey. Hearing Alice say that Sophia had fed her poison, his expression changed slightly.
Sophia saw through his look and said coldly, "My people found out that Alice is connected to James and Michael's disappearance."
William lowered his head in thought. "Did you find proof?"
