Chapter 205: Emily, I Am Your Father

Chapter 205: Emily, I Am Your Father

Seeing Molly's face had suddenly turned pale, Sophia looked straight into her eyes, but there was no trace of a smile on Sophia's face.

Sophia said coldly, "Ms. White, it seems you know her."

Molly suppressed her inner panic and forced a smile, answering, "I don't know her."

She handed the delicate box in her hand to William. "Mr. Smith, Tony said the watch had been repaired . I'll head back to the company now."

After Molly hurriedly left, Sophia told William about Molly's suspicious identity.

She reminded William to replace his secretary and try not to let Molly have access to important projects.

"I don't want company matters to affect the two children."

After speaking, Sophia turned and walked toward the yard.

The next second, she heard William's deep voice from behind her, his tone seeming both like a test and a statement of fact.

"Are you sure it's two children, not three?"

Sophia thought she would panic hearing this, but she didn't.

She even felt a sense of relief that "he finally asked."

She turned to look at William, her eyes calm. "If you're willing to give Emily more care and love, as her mother, I won't refuse."

Faced with her calmness, William felt an inexplicable anger rising in his heart.

"What about Emily's father? Won't he refuse either?"

William stared at Sophia, who was so close, unable to tell if his heart felt joy or melancholy.

"Or is Emily's father actually... me?"

William finally asked it.

When he first did the paternity test, he only focused on the result showing 'no father-daughter relationship' between himself and Emily, forgetting to confirm whether Sophia and Emily had a 'non-mother-daughter relationship.'

The dimples on both sides of Emily's cheeks that were exactly like his, and Holden's confident statement that 'this child must be from the Smith family,' made him realize that he had overlooked important details.

Later, he got the paternity test results for Sophia and Emily, which surprisingly also showed 'no mother-daughter relationship.'

At this moment, William suddenly understood.

Although he wasn't clear why the test results were wrong, anyone who had seen Sophia and Emily's appearances would never doubt their blood relationship.

Since Emily was definitely born to Sophia, but the test results showed 'not biological,' then the only explanation was: Sophia wasn't unaware that he wanted to verify the blood relationship; she knew all along and deliberately tampered with the samples.

Her purpose was to make him completely give up after seeing the 'not biological' results.

At this moment, William couldn't care whether it would make her angry or not.

He asked in a hoarse voice, "You did it on purpose, didn't you?"

Sophia's eyes flickered slightly. She had indeed been careless.

She really didn't expect William to check the paternity test between her and Emily.

Sophia first glanced in the direction Molly had left, and after confirming she was far away, said to William, "Come inside with me."

William walked in with steady steps, following her.

Sophia glanced at Emily, who was playing with puzzles in the playhouse, then led William to the more private study.

After entering, William took a deep breath and asked again, "Emily's father is me, right?"

Sophia asked him back, "Do you really want to be Emily's father?"

William, in front of her, was pressing forward, his sharp eyes hiding anticipation. He looked at her intently, his usually powerful and sharp presence completely restrained at this moment.

He looked into Sophia's beautiful eyes, his gaze firm and his voice sincere. "Yes, I really want to."

Sophia was touched by the emotion in William's eyes and froze for a moment.

She looked away and happened to see Emily's toys left in the study. Those pink fox dolls everywhere were all bought by William for Emily.

She lowered her head and thought for a moment, making a decision in her heart. Perhaps telling him the truth wouldn't lead to those terrible scenarios she worried about.

William thought Sophia would deny it again.

But instead she said, "Fine, from today on she's your daughter. I hope you keep your word and truly love her like your own daughter."

William corrected her in a deep voice, "What do you mean by 'like'? She is my daughter."

Sophia's tone was slightly dismissive. "Yes, she's your daughter."

William fell silent.

He had a feeling of powerlessness, like punching air with all his strength.

He had achieved what he wanted, but William still felt somewhat stifled inside.

The conversation had been going harmoniously up to this point.

But William had to add, "To give the child a healthy environment to grow up in, let's remarry."

Sophia immediately replied, "Acknowledging your daughter is fine, remarrying is out of the question."

The atmosphere in the study froze again.

Time passed second by second. William had his pride, and this was already the biggest compromise he could make.

William gripped the watch box in his hand tightly, his gaze deep. "I want to hear a definite answer."

Sophia understood what he meant. She looked up and met William's eyes, looking into those cold eyes.

Finally, Sophia nodded slightly.

Seeing her confirmation, William's last bit of doubt disappeared, and the corners of his mouth turned up silently.

He had a daughter.

His daughter was adorable.

William knew Sophia cared deeply about Emily, so he took the initiative to state his position. "I'm not here to fight for custody of Emily."

"So you don't need to be so resistant to me."

His attitude seemed to say: 'I'm not here to break up this family, I'm here to join it.'

The corner of Sophia's mouth twitched slightly. "...So should I thank you?"

William fell silent.

At this moment, Emily, hiding by the door, not only eavesdropped on their conversation but also opened a pack of snacks and was eating them with great enjoyment.

Hearing the sound, William and Sophia turned around at the same time.

They saw the door pushed open a crack, and Emily sitting on a small chair.

Emily blinked innocently, then squinted and smiled.

She put down her snacks, wiped her hands, and ran into the room.

Emily thought to herself: 'Finally, my turn to appear!'

William crouched down, his eyes never leaving Emily's face. His voice trembled slightly as he reached out to catch Emily running over.

"Emily..."

But Emily suddenly stopped, turned around, and hugged Sophia's leg.

"Mommy, hug."

William's gaze was tender and loving as he said softly, "Emily, I'm your daddy."

Emily's face showed no surprise or shock.

She nodded and said something that surprised William calmly.

"I know."

Emily's face lit up with a smile as she continued, "I knew all along. I'm super smart!"

William felt a lump in his throat, unable to speak for a moment.

He finally understood why Sophia didn't deny that Emily was his daughter - Emily knew everything.

"Emily, I still need to talk to your..." Sophia said.

The word "daddy" still felt awkward for Sophia to say. But Emily understood what Sophia meant and kissed her cheek.

"I love Mommy the most."

Allan, who had been waiting by the elevator in the distance, saw Emily come out of the study and hurried over to take her downstairs.

After Emily left, Sophia looked back at William with a serious expression. "How do you plan to handle Molly's situation?"

Just then, the box in William's hand made a strange sound.

Sophia raised her hand to signal William to be quiet and took the box from him.

Opening the box, the watch inside wasn't expensive, but it looked somewhat familiar.

Sophia took out the watch and brought it close to the detection device on the desk. The electrical sound became more obvious.

She opened her mouth without making a sound, just mouthing the words, "There's a bug."

Sophia signaled William to keep talking.

William understood and cooperated, saying, "Molly hasn't made any mistakes at work. Peace Group can't fire employees randomly - it would discourage other employees. What I'm thinking is..."

He went along with her intention and spoke, but his voice got quieter and quieter.

If there really was a listening device and someone was eavesdropping, they would definitely turn up the volume to hear more clearly.

Sophia pulled open a specially designed drawer and gently placed the watch inside.

After closing the drawer, she opened a certain app on her phone and turned the volume to maximum.

This drawer with a special soundproofing design perfectly blocked the piercing sound inside, not letting any noise leak out.

But the person on the other end wasn't so lucky.

In a black car outside Crystal Lake Residences, Molly quickly threw the earpiece out of her ear, but it was already too late.

The sound was too piercing, far exceeding the normal decibel level humans could bear, and her brain felt dizzy from the stimulation.

The driver shouted in panic," Ms. White, both your ears are bleeding!"
