Chapter 188 It Turns Out This Sentence Sounds So Unpleasant

Chapter 188 It Turns Out This Sentence Sounds So Unpleasant

Sophia suddenly curved her lips, her eyes sparkling, but her words made the temperature in the car plummet.

She said seriously, "You really aren't that good."

William seemed to have already guessed what she was going to say. He released his grip on her wrist, but the hand pressed against her knee didn't move away—after all, Sophia's force earlier had left no room for doubt.

That ruthless strength showed she really wanted to destroy his genitals.

The second he let go, Sophia reached for the car door, only to find that the driver had locked all the doors when he got in.

William watched her try the door while loosening his tie with one hand.

When Sophia realized danger was approaching again, her wrist was already bound by William's tie, and she was restrained by the back seat's seatbelt. Even her struggling legs were temporarily restricted by his belt.

After doing all this, William finally let out the breath he'd been holding.

His voice was cold and detached, "I don't want to make you angry, but if I don't do this, you won't listen to me properly."

Sophia kicked her legs but couldn't move. "William, believe it or not, I can have you thrown in jail!"

William said, "I believe you."

After speaking, he instructed the driver in front, "Go to the beachside villa."

The driver glanced in the rearview mirror and said, "Mr. Smith, there's a sports car that's been following us."

Without even thinking, William knew who owned the car behind them. A mocking smile played on his lips as he sent a message to Mark, who was secretly following.

Soon, Benjamin lost William's car at an intersection.

William remained silent all the way to the beachside villa.

After the driver parked in the underground garage, he immediately left.

Only William and Sophia remained in the car.

The world seemed to suddenly quiet down, with only the sound of their faint breathing.

William opened the car door, pausing slightly as he got out.

Then, when he bent down to carry Sophia out, he pulled at his penis again. His brow furrowed, and his gaze on her grew even darker.

The beachside villa was regularly cleaned and was a place where William occasionally came to relax and vacation.

This place held other significance for him and Sophia.

Years ago, they had spent a very pleasant time here, and it was also here that she conceived James and Michael.

Unable to escape, Sophia stopped struggling.

She wasn't worried that William would force himself on her—William had that much integrity, at least.

But she didn't want to recall too many memories of the past.

In the spacious living room, William carried her to the sofa, took off her shoes, arranged the cushions, and let her lie comfortably on the sofa.

After he placed her shoes at the entrance and came back with a blanket, he saw Sophia trying to bite open the knot of the tie with her teeth.

Seeing him standing by the sofa without saying a word, Sophia's heart skipped a beat.

She shrank her shoulders and stopped trying to untie the tie on her wrist, asking him with slight impatience, "What's gotten into you tonight?"

William glanced at her casually, not answering her question.

Seeing Sophia's thin clothing, he turned around to find the heating switch and turned on the heat in the house.

Sounds came from the living room.

When he returned, Sophia had already freed herself from the restraints on her hands and legs, and the tie and belt were casually thrown on the carpet.

William's gaze fell on the dark carpet as he walked over and sat down on the sofa beside her.

His voice was heavy, "I just want to talk to you properly."

Sophia was truly speechless hearing this.

Talk about what?

They'd talked many times already—what more was there to say?

"Everything that needed to be said has been said clearly. William, you're a smart person too. Can you stop pretending not to understand every single time? I'm quite busy and don't have time to listen to you justify your past behavior."

As her words fell, silence enveloped them.

William frowned without speaking, his thin lips pressed into a tight line, just staring at her intently.

The warmth from the heating gradually surrounded her. She laughed bitterly.

"You just want to prove you didn't cheat, right? I already told you before—I believe you. I believe you didn't cheat. Is that enough?"

William, seemingly unmoved on the surface, felt his heart tightening wave after wave.

He couldn't describe what he was feeling at this moment, only that these words were extremely harsh to hear.

"This is really pointless of you, William."

Sophia was truly irritated by William's constant back-and-forth, and her words became increasingly blunt.

The frustration she'd suppressed in her heart for years, she decided to let it all out tonight.

"I want custody; you won't give it to me."

"I ask you to stay away from me, and you go back on your word."

"Do you think staying silent makes you look cool? Do you know how much I hated your silence during those five years? Every time I had to guess—can't you speak? When I loved you, I was willing to coax you, but what's our relationship now?"

"We're divorced, William. Do you understand what divorce means?"

"From the day we got the court's judgment, you have no right to interfere with my relationships with other men, and I won't care about your relationships with other women. Can't we just live our separate lives?"

Looking at her red lips and her increasingly agitated tone, William's refined features appeared even more profound under the living room's spotlight.

William once again felt the lethal power of words.

He said coldly, "No."

Sophia fell silent.

She really wanted to beat him up!

"I thought you would come back." His attractive, deep voice rang out in the quiet living room.

His gaze fell on her eyes as she looked away, and he took a deep breath. "Sophia, I thought you would come back."

But she didn't...

Hearing William's words, Sophia was struck silent.

She felt like she was hitting a brick wall—powerless. After saying so much, William hadn't listened to a single word.

William stood up and walked in front of Sophia, looking down as he gripped her chin. "If I destroy Raymond and Benjamin, will your heart come back to me?"

The sharp killing intent emanating from William made Sophia realize he absolutely wasn't just talking.

She warned in a small voice, "Don't go crazy."

Sophia's voice trembled with anger. "This is between us—why do you always have to drag innocent people into it!"

The familiar words coming from her mouth felt like her counterattack and mockery.

William remembered he had once said the same words to her.

So this is how unpleasant these words sound.

Not liking the strong, domineering aura on him, Sophia pushed him away and walked to sit on the single sofa on the other side.

William turned around, his deep, cold gaze never leaving her face—her slightly disheveled hair was a trace of her earlier struggle—but her soft voice spoke words that chilled him to the bone.

"Regardless of the fact that Raymond, Benjamin, and I are completely innocent—even if we really had something going on, you have no right to control me."

William let out a cold laugh. "I won't allow it."
