Chapter 174: Emily Made Someone Cry!
Yesterday, she followed William's car to Rain Village. Afraid of being spotted by him, she kept a very long distance the whole way and didn't dare drive her car into the village, parking it in a hidden spot outside instead.
This morning, after waiting and waiting without seeing either of their cars leave, Molly disguised herself before entering the village, but she couldn't find William's car, which he'd parked in a hidden location.
At that time, William had followed Sophia to the cemetery on the back mountain. Worried that Sophia might spot his car, he'd deliberately parked it behind a building where others couldn't see it.
He had only followed her after Sophia left just now.
Molly was about to leave when she heard a middle-aged woman in the yard on the other side of the wall, complaining and cursing about Sophia.
A new idea immediately formed in her mind.
"That bitch Sophia dares to come back! She made my life so miserable, I have to teach her a good lesson! Cindy, did you get any results from what I asked you to find out last time?"
"Mom, I asked around. Everyone said they don't know whether that piece of land where Sophia's villa is actually belongs to her or not. And you're so annoying! I finally come home for once and all, I hear every day is you cursing and complaining."
Cindy Sullivan went inside and slammed the door hard.
In the yard, ever since learning last night that Sophia had returned, thinking about how the villagers had been excluding her these past few months, Tammy's heart was full of resentment, and she hadn't slept well all night.
After Cindy left, she could only vent all her anger on her daughter-in-law, Jasmine Sullivan. "All you do is eat! You've been married into our family for three years and still haven't given birth to a child. I really don't know what use you are!"
Jasmine used to just swallow her anger, but ever since her husband, Russell Sullivan, beat her up that one time, she stopped putting up with it.
She threw the half-eaten corn in her hand right at Tammy's forehead and cursed, "Are you ever going to stop? I'm eating corn that I grew myself, what's it to you! Nagging every single day - you're just jealous that Sophia has money, aren't you?"
Throwing one corn cob wasn't enough to vent her anger, so Jasmine flipped the whole table over.
"Who cares whether that piece of land by Sophia's villa belongs to her or not? Even the village chief hasn't said anything, so what are you babbling about at home every day? If you're so tough, go fight Sophia's bodyguards! All you do is curse at home - you've cursed away all the good luck in this house!"
Tammy was so busy being angry that she hadn't eaten yet.
Russell and his father, Terry Sullivan, had just finished their work and came home. As soon as they walked in, they saw food scattered all over the floor.
Terry slapped her twice and shouted angrily, "Are you ever going to stop with this every day? You won't be satisfied until you've bullied Jasmine into leaving, will you! I really regret marrying you - all you do day after day is cause trouble!"
Russell also said to her with disgust, "Mom, that's enough. Jasmine finally agreed to keep living with me. Can you please stop acting crazy? If this keeps up, you're going to tear this family apart sooner or later!"
"You... you all!"
Tammy couldn't catch her breath, her chest heaving violently, but neither Terry nor Russell paid her any attention.
Jasmine did notice, but just gave a cold laugh and went inside.
Tammy, lying on the ground, looked up at Cindy on the second floor. Cindy's eyes were cold, as if she wasn't looking at her own mother but at an enemy. As Tammy gasped for breath, Cindy pulled the curtains shut.
That's when Molly pushed the door open and walked in.
She looked down at Tammy lying on the ground with her eyes half-rolled back, the corners of her mouth turning up. "Are you interested in working with me?"
-
Back in Empire City, Sophia couldn't wait to get home.
"Emily, Mommy's home."
She hadn't seen Emily for over a week and missed her terribly, but Emily didn't come running out.
Sophia called Lucas to ask, only to hear his panicked voice on the other end.
"Sophia, thank god you're back! Get to the police station right away - Emily made someone cry, and I'm trying to mediate here."
Emily made someone cry?
Sophia thought Emily had made some kid younger than her cry. She rushed to the police station, only to discover that the person who had been beaten up and was crying was actually Juan.
A boy five or six years older than Emily.
Seeing Sophia, Emily's eyes lit up and she ran into her arms with happy little steps.
"Mommy, Mommy."
As Sophia quickly hugged her, she noticed that James and Michael were also there.
Both James and Michael lowered their heads, somewhat embarrassed. They had bruises on their faces.
On the other side, Juan sat up straight as soon as he saw her.
She learned what happened from Lucas. Today was the weekend, and James and Michael had come over to play with Emily. He took the kids to the amusement park, and when he went to the window to buy ice cream for the kids and came back, he saw Michael and Juan fighting.
Juan was taller than Michael and, taking advantage of his height, punched Michael in the face.
James got hurt by accident while trying to break up the fight.
After all, he was just a kid, too, and couldn't stop Michael and Juan at all.
Emily stood to the side, glaring angrily at Juan. Lucas first pulled James aside and had him watch Emily.
He went over to separate the two fighting boys. After finally pulling them apart, he checked the wound on Michael's face.
Then, when he turned around, Emily had charged up and beat Juan up, saying as she hit him, "Don't bully Michael!"
It just so happened that no one had trimmed Emily's nails recently, so Emily scratched Juan's face until it had red marks bleeding.
Both James and Michael were stunned.
They never knew Emily was such a fierce little fighter.
Juan didn't fight back at all, just let Emily hit him, and even crouched down.
Come to think of it, if he hadn't crouched down, with Emily's height, she wouldn't have been able to reach his face at all.
By the time Lucas brought the injured kids to the medical room and treated their wounds, Juan's mother, Ember Stewart, finally arrived in a rush, disheveled. Seeing the wound on Juan's face, she immediately called the police, insisting that the other children's parents come to mediate.
When he learned earlier that the children's parents were on their way, Lucas clearly saw some excitement in Ember's eyes.
Hearing that someone had arrived, she quickly stood up, but when she saw it was Sophia who came, her face immediately turned cold, and she went back into the mediation room.
Lucas immediately understood what was going on.
She thought it would be James and Michael's father coming, waiting to demand compensation from William, right?
Sophia kissed Emily's face and carried her over to James and Michael. Before she could say anything to them, familiar footsteps sounded behind her.
She turned around, her pupils contracting. The person who came was William.
But the black trench coat he was wearing was clearly the same one she'd seen yesterday.
Someone like William would never wear the same outfit two days in a row unless there were unavoidable circumstances, even if it was the exact same style.
Could it be that the bouquet of daisies really was...
William walked first to James and Michael, crouched down, and pulled them into his arms, gently patting their backs.
"I'm sorry, Daddy came too late."
"Can you tell Daddy what the reason for the fight was?"
William had learned from his previous experience at Koi Paradise Resort when he made James cry and got scolded by Sophia. This time, he learned to actively ask the children for their reasons instead of immediately criticizing their behavior.
James lowered his head, and Michael stayed silent.
Emily looked at James and Michael with their red eyes, anxiously thinking - why aren't they saying anything?
Oh well, she's young, she'll do it!
