Chapter 158 Slapping William in Anger
William never expected that she would... attack him?
Sophia didn't give him any time to think. She swung her fist straight at William's face. William leaned back and reached out to grab her wrist.
She dodged his hand beautifully and lifted her leg to attack his vulnerable spot.
William dodged carefully, his eyes growing more serious. He didn't dare underestimate any of her attacks anymore.
Sophia had really wanted to completely destroy him just now.
Realizing this, William became more serious.
They fought back and forth in the alley for dozens of rounds, still unable to determine a winner.
Sophia put real force behind every move, as if trying to take back all the energy she'd wasted on him over those five years.
When Sophia was young, she was the daughter of the Johnson family after all.
Before going bankrupt, the Johnson family couldn't compare to the Smith family, but they were still a well-known, wealthy family in Empire City.
Sophia had studied various self-defense techniques under famous teachers since childhood. Even after the Johnson family went bankrupt, she never gave up, continuing to train herself privately to protect herself and her grandmother.
Otherwise, during that half year at the bar, she would have been eaten alive.
Later, after marrying William, she no longer needed to constantly worry about being bullied, so she never showed her skills in front of him.
After the divorce, she accidentally saved Joe and learned many quick, ruthless, and precise killing moves from him.
Gradually, she grew to like them.
Over the past two years, while taking care of Emily, she devoted most of her time to experimental research and improving her fighting skills, aside from caring for Emily.
Compared to the passivity of entrusting her life to bodyguards and those around her, she preferred to be in control herself.
William never knew Sophia's skills were so excellent. His attitude shifted from taking it lightly to gradually becoming serious.
He could tell she really wanted to beat him!
William's eyes caught the fierceness in her movements. He defended and counterattacked, and when he blocked her kick again, he gradually applied more force.
Until Sophia kicked hard at his knee, and William dropped to one knee.
He looked up at her. "Are you satisfied now?"
Sophia frowned, displeased.
She clearly noticed he could have blocked her attack, but he deliberately withdrew his force at the last moment, letting her kick his knee.
She said coldly, "Not satisfied!"
William sighed inwardly, stood up, and said, "Fine, we'll keep going."
This time, he didn't hold back any force. His punches stirred the fine hair on both sides of her face, and the determination in her eyes made his gaze grow deeper.
Although the two didn't determine a winner, at the final moment, Sophia gave him two slaps.
William didn't make a sound.
Feeling the numbness in his cheeks, he chuckled. "You've wanted to hit me like this for a long time, haven't you?"
Sophia didn't deny it, staring at him coldly.
William irritably tugged at his tie. "Had enough? If not, let's continue."
Sophia narrowed her eyes, feeling that the William before her was very strange.
He seemed to be deliberately letting her vent. She didn't want to think deeply about his reasons, and she didn't want any connection with him beyond their child.
The palm that had just slapped him was a bit numb, dispersing the anger in her heart.
"Crazy!" Sophia turned to leave.
William suddenly laughed. "Yeah, otherwise why would I keep passing out?"
As she turned to leave, William still had things he wanted to say to her. He reached out, but Sophia slapped his hand away, her knee forcefully attacking his groin.
William's expression changed immediately.
He stepped back half a step, avoiding half her force, but it still hurt enough to make him gasp.
Sophia didn't want to deal with William. She glanced at the area she'd just hit and thought to herself: 'If it's really damaged, that would be just great.'
By the time William recovered, he only saw Sophia's departing figure.
She really was... ruthless enough.
Mark had seen clearly that when William's fist was about to hit Sophia, he deliberately gave her an opening.
Only this time, he did it very skillfully and more carefully.
He wasn't sure if those two slaps were from Sophia's anger at discovering William was holding back, or if she was taking the opportunity to vent.
Either way, as a man watching her final knee strike, his scalp tingled.
"Mr. Smith." Mark emerged from the shadows and walked to his side.
William straightened up, the pain fading from his face, his expression cold. "Have someone follow her."
Forton County was a remote small city after all. The people here had limited income, and when they encountered strangers, they couldn't help but have bad intentions.
A beautiful woman like Sophia could easily be targeted by bad people.
The hotel wasn't far from here. Sophia soon returned to her hotel room, grabbed her change of clothes, and went to the bathroom.
When she came out after washing up, she heard knocking at the door.
"Sophia, are you asleep?"
It was Benjamin's voice.
It was already dark. Sophia was wearing a silk robe and didn't want to change clothes to see anyone.
Having just fought with William, Sophia really didn't have the energy to deal with Benjamin's doubts and probing.
She didn't want to mention that period in Port City again, so she simply remained silent.
Hearing no movement from inside, Benjamin thought she was already asleep and returned to his room, somewhat disappointed.
In the depths of the night, Sophia's thoughts drifted far away.
Joe came knocking, bringing her a late-night snack he'd made himself. "I know you didn't eat dinner, so I made you some pasta."
Sophia had thrown on a long trench coat over her robe and said helplessly, "Monkey, you don't need to go to such trouble. I'm not particular about food."
"I'm doing this for Emily." Joe skillfully brought the pasta to the dining table and gestured for her to come sit and eat.
Sophia looked confused until she saw him take out his phone and snap a photo of her eating dinner.
The tall man pinched his voice and sent Emily a voice message. "Emily, I did what I promised you."
It turned out that before leaving, Emily had specifically found Joe and insisted he make sure she ate.
Hearing Emily praise Joe on the other end, and seeing how happy Joe looked, Sophia shook her head. Emily really had them all under her spell.
Earlier, when she returned, Sophia had already video-called Emily.
Lucas was making a fuss on the other end, insisting Emily choose between Joe and himself as her favorite.
He started giving examples again. "Emily, if Joe and I both fell in the water, who would you save?"
Emily gave him a 'are you serious' look and had to remind him, "Uncle Lucas, I'm only a year old."
She said very seriously to Lucas, "Save myself."
Sophia was amused by the helplessness in Emily's voice and choked on her soup.
Although Joe was video-calling Emily, the moment she laughed, his hand was already holding out a tissue to her, the movement natural.
When William came knocking, what he saw was Joe's face. His gaze moved past him to land on Sophia, and he gripped the medicine in his hand tighter.
Joe looked at the finger marks on William's cheeks and raised an eyebrow.
William's expression was displeased. Just as he was about to speak, he heard Benjamin from the next room also coming over.
Three distinctive men gathered at Sophia's hotel room door.
