Chapter 146 Slapping Hannah
The moment Sophia couldn't find the children, she had Monkey bring people over.
Looking around, she not only noticed that the servants who had been with the children were gone, but even the bodyguards with James and Michael were from the Smith Manor, not the bodyguards William had assigned to stay with the children.
She glanced again at the people gathered around the lawn pool - all unfamiliar new faces she'd never seen before.
The real heirs and executives of wealthy families were currently in the banquet hall, toasting and discussing potential future collaborations between their companies.
After all, most of those Holden had invited to the party were from wealthy families.
This was much more convenient than having secretaries schedule meetings.
The first floor of the banquet hall had many separate seating areas, with screens embroidered with beautiful patterns dividing the space into private areas for the big shots to talk.
Because the lawn and pool were on the other side of the hall, no one had noticed what was happening outside.
And those currently attacking and mocking Sophia were either rich kids with no real abilities, or narrow-minded women with dirty tactics - the same type as Hannah.
They resented Sophia's beauty, envied that James and Michael were future heirs of the Smith family, and were jealous that Sophia had given birth to such a beautiful and delicate daughter as Emily.
At this moment, Hannah's face was ashen as she warned Sophia not to talk nonsense.
Sophia immediately checked the red spot on Emily's forehead, breathing a slight sigh of relief after confirming the skin wasn't broken.
She sneered coldly at Hannah, "Hannah, you forgot that I warned you before not to mess with my children and me, or you'd face the consequences."
This was the Smith Manor - Hannah didn't believe she'd dare cause trouble here.
She spoke brazenly, "If you have the guts, then..."
Before Hannah could finish, Sophia's palm struck Hannah's cheek directly.
The air instantly filled with gasps one after another.
People couldn't believe that Sophia, while holding Emily with one hand, had viciously slapped Hannah twice with the other.
Even before Hannah could recover and start cursing, she added two more slaps.
The sound was loud, hitting Hannah so hard she could barely stand, her cheeks immediately swelling red with clear handprints.
Emily's mouth fell open as she stared at the person across from her with reddened face and eyes.
She even forgot to keep crying, wiping the corners of her eyes, and quickly hugging Sophia's neck.
Emily thought to herself: 'Wow! Mom is so cool!'
James and Michael were also shocked, not expecting that Sophia's attitude toward dealing with bad people was to use actions instead of words.
Sophia patted Emily's head and stood in front of James and Michael, using her actions to reassure them.
In the crowd, there were lowered mocking voices.
"No wonder the Smith family doesn't want this woman as their grandson's wife - turns out she has violent tendencies."
"Doing this in front of the children, not acting like a mother at all. If my daughter-in-law dared treat me like this, I'd definitely hit back. She's way too arrogant!"
Beauty, without absolute family background and connections, always becomes an object of entertainment for certain men.
Among the crowd, besides women who disapproved of Sophia's behavior, there were shameless men making sleazy comments.
"You know what, this woman really is good-looking. If I could sleep with her once, I'd be laughing in my dreams."
Hannah's face burned with pain, her eyes glaring furiously at Sophia.
Being watched by so many people, she had to fight back, or she'd definitely be mocked.
"Did I say something wrong? Sophia, do you dare tell us who your daughter's father is?"
Sophia looked at Hannah's vicious expression, never understanding why she kept coming to cause her trouble.
If it was now because she'd sent Tanner to prison, then what about the first time?
Hannah thought she'd intimidated her with those words, and hearing the surrounding discussion, felt a surge of satisfaction.
She continued, "Can't say it? You probably don't even know who your daughter's biological father is yourself!"
Sophia couldn't help but wonder - what had she done to give Hannah the wrong impression that she was easy to bully?
Was it that she hadn't hit her hard enough last time?
She didn't like dealing with the same trouble repeatedly.
So this time, she had to deal with Hannah once and for all!
Sophia's eyes were cold, sweeping lightly over her opponent as she said, "What business is it of yours who my daughter's father is?"
Hannah instinctively responded, "You must have wrecked someone's family, which is why you've never been willing to tell anyone who this little girl's biological father is, right?"
"Hannah, are you talking about yourself?" Sophia said.
Only then did the watching crowd remember in unison that Hannah had climbed into Henry's bed while Luna was recovering after giving birth, hadn't she?
Hannah's face flushed red with anger at Sophia's words, her chest heaving with rage.
Among the surrounding people were some connections she'd only recently made.
After all, she'd been married to Henry for over twenty years. Without deliberate reminders from certain people, the wives who had married into Empire City's wealthy circles from other cities wouldn't know the specific details about her and Henry.
Hannah had relied on this information gap to win over those wives, hoping they'd invest in her family's company.
Sophia waited until Emily's emotions had stabilized before putting her down on the sofa.
James and Michael immediately went over to hold Emily's hands, afraid she might get hurt again.
After standing up, she glanced indifferently at the two bodyguards who had followed, and they both felt a chill, guiltily looking away.
Sophia wasn't in a hurry - she would settle this account one by one!
When she turned back to face Hannah again, her chilling gaze combined with her upturned lips really didn't look like she'd let anyone off easy.
"What are you going to do? Don't forget this is the Smith Manor, I'm the lady of the Smith family, you... Ah!"
Hannah broke down. She'd specifically had a stylist create an elegant hairstyle, but now her hair was grabbed directly by Sophia, who dragged her all the way to the pool and kicked her in.
After choking on several mouthfuls of water, Hannah struggled to climb out of the pool, only to have Sophia grab her hair again and hold her head down in the water.
"...Let... let go of me..."
Several times in a row, Hannah's pupils dilated in fear at Sophia's actions.
Finally, when the grip loosened, she immediately retreated to the middle of the pool, afraid this crazy woman would come at her again.
She turned to the onlookers and said, "Go get someone!"
"I'm Henry's wife! Are you all just going to stand there and watch this crazy woman bully me?"
However, at this moment, the Henry that Hannah spoke of was in a car not far from the Smith Manor, doing pleasurable things with a young girl.
His eyes were hazy, and before long his body started trembling.
The girl wiped the corner of her mouth and looked up at him seductively, asking, "Honey, when are you going to end things with that old woman? I want to be with you every day."
Henry adjusted his clothes and patted the girl's head dismissively. He'd wanted to kiss her but felt disgusted seeing the traces at the corner of her mouth.
"Wait a bit longer, it'll be over soon."
He pushed open the car door and walked toward the Smith Manor, unaware that a shocking piece of news was waiting for him.
