Chapter 144 I Don't Believe Your Words.
"You illegitimate daughter, come here!"
Hannah was absolutely furious, but afraid of being discovered, she could only stand in the corner and raise her voice at Emily.
Emily didn't understand the meaning of an illegitimate daughter. She tilted her head and looked at the stranger opposite her.
She turned around to find James and Michael. "James, Michael."
Hearing her voice, James and Michael immediately ran over.
"Emily, what's wrong?"
James hugged Emily as she ran over, and she held his hand, leading him toward the grass sofa.
Michael took Emily's other hand and looked curiously at where she was pointing. "What's there?"
But by then, Hannah was no longer crouching in that spot.
Emily was a bit confused.
Where did that person go?
James found Emily's expression adorable. He patted her head and asked, "Emily, did you see something fun?"
Emily shook her head: 'That was a person, not a thing.'
Michael, always playful, saw nothing in the corner and pulled Emily to go kick the ball again.
The two siblings chased each other around, laughing constantly.
"Emily, kick the ball to me."
The ball was in Emily's arms, making her small frame look even tinier.
Seeing James and Michael both reaching out to her, calling for her to kick it over, Emily immediately crouched down.
Just as Emily was about to put the ball at her feet, a boy who looked older than James and Michael, wearing a sharp suit like a little adult, walked over.
He snatched the ball right out of Emily's hands. "We're playing with this ball now. It's ours!"
Several younger boys followed behind him, and one of them said directly, "Yeah, you guys go play somewhere else. You can't play here."
Seeing this, James and Michael quickly ran over and both spread their arms, protecting Emily behind them.
Emily looked at James and Michael's backs, her eyes blinking. It felt so good to be protected by James.
Michael said angrily, "What do you think you're doing!"
The boy in the suit thought about what his mom had just said, and malice showed in his eyes.
He mocked Michael, "Well, well, who do we have here? It's Michael. Have you found your mom who didn't want you?"
Ever since Sophia and William divorced, it was always William who attended parent-teacher meetings for James and Michael.
The kids at kindergarten all said that James and Michael's mom didn't want them anymore.
James and Michael had been sad about this for a long time.
Although Emily was young, she understood what the boy meant.
These bad people were trying to drive a wedge between Sophia and James and Michael!
They were so mean!
She immediately rushed out from behind them and kicked the suited boy hard in the shin, scolding him, "You're bad!"
Anyone who bullied James and Michael was a big meanie!
After scolding him, she didn't forget to run back to James and Michael, stretching out her two little short arms to hug their arms.
"Emily will protect James and Michael!"
Lately, she'd been drinking more formula.
Sophia told her that as long as she ate well and drank her formula, she would grow up very, very soon.
Then she could chase away all these bad people who bullied James.
Emily thought to herself: 'I'll protect James and Michael forever!'
James and Michael were both touched by Emily's actions and quickly pulled her behind them to protect her.
The suited boy found Emily's two little pigtails on top of her head so cute that he couldn't help but take another look.
But remembering that Emily was glaring at him so angrily to defend Michael, he couldn't help but take his anger out on her.
Still childish but already malicious, he sneered, "You're that bastard girl who has a mom but no dad to raise her, right?"
Bastard girl? What's that?
Emily looked up at James and Michael in confusion, her eyes full of "Emily doesn't know what bastard girl means."
James and Michael of course knew this was a bad word, and both of them covered Emily's ears at the same time.
James said, "Emily, don't listen."
Michael glared at the suited boy and said angrily, "Juan Stewart, don't you talk about my sister!"
"I'm going to tell your mom that you still wet the bed at kindergarten even though you're so big, and you deliberately put the sheets on Wren's bed and got her scolded by the teacher."
Having his embarrassing secret exposed, Juan became angry from shame.
Using his height advantage, he pushed Michael away and threatened him, "Don't say it!"
"If you tell my mom, I'll tell your mom that you said you like Alice more than your real mom because she buys you toys and cupcakes."
Michael's little face instantly turned pale.
Hearing this, he immediately went silent.
Michael still couldn't forget how, back at Rain Village, he had secretly let Alice in for cupcakes, and Sophia and Emily both ignored him.
When they met again later, Sophia obviously liked James more and didn't like him.
If James hadn't spoken up for him, would Sophia have never forgiven him? Would she have never wanted him?
Seeing Michael's dejected silence with his head down, Juan smiled smugly.
That woman in red was right—kids like Michael who were abandoned by their mothers were most afraid of their mothers not wanting them again.
He walked up to Michael and leaned in, "Even though you're twins, your mom likes James more, right?"
"Michael, you're the kid nobody wants!"
"You know what, if you and James both fell into the water at the same time, your dad and mom would definitely save James first."
Juan's three sentences made Michael's eyes turn red.
He looked up stubbornly and hurt, "That's still better than your dad bringing home several little brothers and sisters for you, isn't it?"
"Juan, you're just jealous that my dad and mom are good to me and James and Emily. You want to drive a wedge between us siblings."
"You're the worst kind of person. My mom won't let me play with bad kids."
Hearing Michael's words, Emily immediately nodded in agreement.
This person was really too mean.
She held Michael's hand and said very seriously, "Mommy loves you."
Nobody was allowed to drive a wedge between Sophia and James!
James hadn't heard what Juan said to Michael, but that didn't stop him from protecting Michael and Emily.
He immediately nodded in agreement, "Right! Mommy loves Michael."
Juan felt a bit upset seeing how close the siblings were.
He looked down at Emily, the youngest, and said, "No way! Your mom doesn't want you now that she has James and Michael. You're just waiting to be abandoned by your mom."
Meeting his resentful, jealous gaze, Emily's face immediately broke into a bright, brilliant smile, and she told him very seriously and firmly, "Mommy loves me the most!"
Emily: 'I don't believe what you're saying.'
In the past, hearing Emily say this, Michael never felt anything was wrong.
But after hearing what Juan just said, he suddenly had an indescribable feeling in his heart.
Heavy and stuffy, like the symptoms before catching a cold, making him very uncomfortable.
Emily showed Michael the sweet little dimples on both sides of her cheeks, looking very cute.
"I love James and Michael the most."
She had three favorites: Mommy, James, and Michael.
However, Michael turned his face away without saying anything.
