Chapter 103 Public Apology
Lily asked impatiently, "Who are we waiting for?"
People had always waited for Lily, never the other way around.
"Raymond." Sophia replied coolly.
Lily's expression shifted slightly, a hint of anticipation flickering in her eyes, though she tried to maintain an aloof, superior air.
Sophia didn't call her out on it, just waited quietly.
The blonde woman and her friends were getting restless. Their husbands all had some money and cared a lot about their reputation. If they found out they were at the police station right now, they'd definitely be furious.
"Who else are you waiting for? Just deal with this already. I need to get home and put my kid to bed."
"This is between your wives and mistresses anyway. What's the point of keeping us here?"
"If you're so afraid of what people say, then don't go around seducing other people's fiancés!"
Francis frowned and stated directly, "According to relevant laws in our country, spreading rumors and defaming others is illegal behavior. In serious cases..."
Hearing this, the blonde woman and her friends exchanged glances, feeling a bit guilty, but then they heard Lily let out a cold laugh.
The blonde woman's eyes lit up as she immediately said, "The person involved is right here. She can prove we didn't spread rumors or defame anyone! Big Pear, everything in your video was true, right?"
Lily: "Of course, everything I said was true. This woman seduced my fiancé! She's a gold digger and a fraud. Shameless!"
Sophia lifted her long lashes, her calm eyes slowly looking at her.
Lily glared back fiercely.
Sophia: "Is Raymond really your fiancé?"
Lily: "If he's not mine, is he yours? Shameless women are everywhere these days!"
Sophia: "If he's not, I'll settle this score with the Baker family."
Lily: "Settle it with the Baker family? You'd have to be capable of that first!"
Finally, Raymond arrived, rushing over from the airport.
As soon as he pushed through the door, his anxious eyes immediately searched for Sophia. Seeing she was okay, he breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Then he walked over and sat down beside her, creating a clear divide between himself and Lily.
Making his position clear—he was on Sophia's side.
Lily gripped her skirt tightly, glaring at the man across from her. "Raymond, you're my fiancé now. How can you sit next to this homewrecker! Does your father know about this?"
Raymond's usually warm eyes were filled with coldness. "Lily, I'm not your fiancé. Stop slandering people."
Slander?
He actually thought being called her fiancé was slander!
Lily: "Raymond!"
Raymond showed no sign of softening despite her reddening eyes.
Just seeing those vicious comments under Lily's video—cursing people's parents, wishing death on them—made Raymond's heart race with anger.
"I had no idea about that family dinner last time. To be accurate, I was tricked into going. If I'd known it was a blind date, I would never have gone."
"And I made it clear to you that day—I have someone I like."
"While I'm single, I'm pursuing a girl I've liked for ten years. What's wrong with that?"
"And you, in your video, you made up lies about my relationship with you and smeared the girl I like as a homewrecker. I will definitely pursue both of these matters!"
Raymond's expression grew colder as he spoke, looking at Lily without a trace of warmth.
When Sophia heard him say, "a girl I've liked for ten years," her eyes flickered, and she looked at him with confusion.
Raymond spoke too quickly and urgently to notice he'd accidentally revealed what was in his heart.
Or maybe he knew, and was just using this opportunity to share a secret he'd buried for ten years.
Lily's face went pale from his words.
The other three women who had been calling Sophia a homewrecker all stared wide-eyed, frozen in place.
"So he's not your fiancé after all..."
"That's making stuff up. Even if you're a blogger with a million followers, you can't just lie like that. Isn't this deliberately misleading people into cyberbullying?"
Sophia felt nothing about the blonde woman and her friends suddenly switching sides.
She looked expressionlessly at Lily, whose eyes were red with anger, her voice carrying a chill. "Does Ms. Baker have anything to explain?"
Lily's chest heaved with anger. She kept saying "You..." but couldn't get anything else out.
Sophia: "Since you have nothing to say, I'll speak."
"I don't care what relationship you have with Raymond, but it's a fact that you used the internet to spread rumors and make things up. This has greatly affected me and my life, and I have the right to hold you accountable."
Lily rolled her eyes at her, completely unconcerned by her threat. After all, with her father around, everything could be smoothed over.
Sophia could see what she was thinking.
For these rich young ladies who'd been spoiled since childhood, they probably didn't even understand what "taking responsibility" meant.
In that case, she naturally wouldn't hold back either.
How could you feel the fear of death unless the knife cut your own artery?
Lily's confidence came from her family's wealth. What if her father went bankrupt and became penniless?
Sophia: "I'm giving you three days to publicly apologize to me online. If you can't do it in three days, I'll show you what 'trouble comes from the mouth' means."
She glanced at the blonde woman and her two friends.
None of them dared meet her eyes, all guiltily looking away.
"You can't really blame us. Who told her to post that kind of misleading video?"
"Exactly! We were just standing up for women!"
"At most, we won't say anything anymore. Don't hold it against us—our kids all go to the same kindergarten."
Francis glanced with interest at Sophia beside him. Seeing that she hadn't stated any more specific demands, he knew she had other plans in mind. He finalized some things with the other lawyer, looking forward to the upcoming moment when the tables would turn.
When Lily left the mediation room with her bag, her high heels clicked loudly.
Sophia watched her retreating figure, knowing she would never apologize easily and might even do something more impulsive.
And that impulsiveness was exactly what she wanted.
At the door, Lily snorted coldly, "Threaten me? You really think you're something special!"
She immediately pulled out her phone to call her father. "Dad, you have to stand up for me!"
"I'm at the police station. Raymond is my fiancé, but he's taking the homewrecker's side! I don't care—I want this homewrecker completely ruined!"
Thinking of what the blonde woman had said, Lily smiled viciously. "That homewrecker's kid goes to Empire City Private Kindergarten. Dad, isn't your friend the principal there? I want her kid kicked out of school, so they'll feel ashamed that their mother is a homewrecker!"
Want her to publicly apologize? Dream on!
After getting reassuring words from her father, Lily immediately started calling friends in her social circle.
"Do you know about the Peace Group CEO's wife? Do you have any photos? Don't worry, I'll keep it confidential. Don't you want that rare platinum Birkin bag? I'll have someone send it to you."
"If he really liked her, why would the Smith family guy get divorced? Maybe if I teach her a lesson, he'll even thank me. About your brother's situation—I'll help, as long as you give me those photos."
After making calls from her car, Lily finally had a smile on her face.
But when she saw Sophia and Raymond standing together at the entrance in the distance, her expression darkened again.
"Sophia, I'm sorry for causing you trouble."
"Don't worry, I'll handle this properly. I won't let Lily hurt you and your child again."
Raymond's attitude was sincere, his eyes full of concern.
Sophia looked up and asked directly, "Raymond, do you like me?"
