Our big win!
Our big win!
Freya
I heaved a sigh of relief as Victor finally got in the car and started the car. I stood there and watched till the car was completely out of sight. That was when I finally turned around and went back inside. The moment I got my eyes on the sofa, I crashed heavily in it.
I’ve spent the last hour trying to get Victor to leave for the office. He kept stalling and though he was trying to hide it, I could see through him. He didn’t want to leave the house and was trying to stall so he wouldn’t have to go after being too fashionably late. I saw it and made sure he left.
I really don’t understand why he’s so scared of leaving me and the baby at the house. There are so many people in the house. No one is going to just appear and grab us.
I laughed at the thought and just then my belly moved.
“Oh my goodness, my baby just kicked!” I exclaimed while rubbing gently on my belly. Victor would have been so happy if he was here. Not like it’s the first time though but he acts like it’s the first time every damn time. He hasn’t met her yet but their hind is so strong already. Sometimes, I even get jealous when I think about it. I can already imagine myself fighting for my husband’s attention just because my own child has won his heart over.
“Good morning ma’am, this is for you,” the voice sounded beside me and when I turned, it was one of the maids standing there with a tray of fruits.
“What is that? Fruits?” I quizzed while she nodded and I took the tray from her.
“Mr. Victor called and asked me to bring you some fruits.” She replied while my brows furrowed.
“What? When did that happen?” I asked.
“A few minutes ago.” She replied while I just shook my head, thanked the kind lady and dismissed her.
Staring at the tray in my hands, I just couldn’t stop smiling. This sweet man left just a few minutes and he’s already worried about me.
I sat there and devoured the whole tray, and actually, that was so thoughtful of him. My body definitely wanted the friuts and it was grateful it got it.
I got up and lazily made my way upstairs into the room. I jumped into the bed and it didn’t take long before I slept off.
When I finally woke up, I opened my eyes and for some reasons I couldn’t explain, I felt funny. My baby kicked again and again and that just felt like another warning sign. She likes to play around but this was a bit too much at once.
“What’s going on, baby? Can you feel it too?” I asked my baby as if she could answer me. Maybe I would have been happy if she did. I was desperate to know I wasn’t the only one feeling like something was going to go wrong.
Any other day, I would have picked up my phone and call Victor immediately to tell him, but I didn’t. The moment I tell him what I was feeling, he would make sure I don’t step foot in the party. He already didn’t want me there but had to agree because I’m stubborn. Calling him is like handing him the perfect way to get rid of me.
I tried to manage it but I still couldn’t shake off the feeling. When Victor finally got back home, I was happy he was going to cheer it out of me but that didn’t work either. I didn’t tell him though, I just kept mute and got dressed.
Victor had a stylist and makeup artist come over and they did a really great job with me. By the time they were done any I stared in the mirror, I was stunned. I almost couldn’t believe it was still me.
“You look stunning, my love.” Victor whispered as he kissed my shoulder before moving to my neck, forehead, nose and finally my lips where he stayed a little bit longer, taking his time to get some sweetness.
“You don’t look bad yourself, and you taste so sweet too.” I chimed in and he chuckled.
“Let’s save some for later when we are back. Shall we?” He asked and then extended his arm to me which I grabbed firmly like my life depended on it. And maybe it did, because the weird feeling was now stronger more than ever.
He led the way downstairs and to the car where we both hopped in. The driver started the car and zoomed off, leaving us to our little romance in the back seat.
Our lips enjoyed the most because they were locked for the better part of the drive. We only pulled away from each other when the car finally pulled to a halt.
“We are here now!” Victor let out and I could hear the nervousness in his voice.
“Are you nervous?” I whispered and he exhaled deeply.
“Yes I am, and that’s only because I’m here with the loves of my life. I hope everything goes smoothly.” He replied while I moved close and kissed his cheek.
“What could ever go wrong with the loves of your life right here with you? We are going to walk in there with our heads so high and get that win. It’s yours, baby. Nothing can stop it now.” I said gently.
“I love you so much, darling. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” He replied and I chuckled.
“I guess we will never know then.” I chimed in.
We got out of the car and walked in hand-in-hand. Different cameras lit up our faces as we made our way inside and we made sure to put up a sweet smile too. We need to look nice for when the picture starts to flood everywhere in the morning after our big win…
