Chapter 185 Chapter 185
It had been two weeks since that scary day Savannah slipped on the stairs and lost consciousness. The memory of that moment still made Adrian’s heart race every time he thought about it. But now, everything was finally back to normal — or at least close to it.
Savannah was sitting in the garden, her hair flowing freely as she sipped warm tea. The sun was gentle, and the flowers Adrian had planted for her were in full bloom. She looked calm, her skin glowing and her smile brighter than ever.
Adrian came out of the house, adjusting his tie, ready for work. “You look too peaceful for someone who almost gave me a heart attack two months ago,” he teased, bending to kiss her on the forehead.
Savannah giggled softly. “I told you, I’m fine now. You’ve been worrying too much.”
“Of course I worry,” Adrian said, sitting beside her. “You scared the life out of me, Savannah. If anything had happened to you, I don’t know what I would have done.”
She smiled warmly and placed her hand on his. “Well, nothing happened, my love. God kept me safe.”
Adrian exhaled slowly, his eyes softening. “I thank Him for that every day.”
From inside the house came the sound of Liam’s laughter. A moment later, the little boy came running out in his neat school uniform, his backpack swinging behind him. “Mom! Dad! My school bus is coming!”
Savannah turned, her heart melting at the sight. “Wait, honey, your shoelace is untied.”
She knelt down and tied it carefully, smiling up at him. “There. All done. Now remember what I told you — be polite, listen to your teachers, and no fighting, okay?”
Liam nodded proudly. “Yes, Mommy! I promise.”
Adrian ruffled his hair. “And make us proud, champ.”
The driver honked from outside. Liam hugged them both tightly before running off to the gate. Savannah stood there for a while, watching him go. It still amazed her how fast time was moving.
Her little boy, once so shy and quiet, was now full of life. It had been two months since he started at the new school — a prestigious academy Adrian had carefully chosen for him. And already, Liam was learning faster than anyone expected.
His teachers called Savannah almost every week, praising his intelligence and curiosity. “He’s a brilliant boy, Mrs. Adrian,” one teacher had said. “He picks up things so quickly — he’ll go far.”
Savannah couldn’t help but smile at that thought. It made her proud, and also emotional.
Adrian noticed the faraway look in her eyes. “You’re thinking again,” he said gently.
Savannah chuckled. “I can’t help it. I’m just grateful. After everything that’s happened, look at us now — peaceful, happy. Liam’s growing so fast, and you… you’ve been nothing but amazing.”
Adrian smiled and took her hand again. “You deserve all the peace in the world, Savannah. You and Liam both.”
A light breeze blew through the garden, rustling the flowers. For a moment, everything felt still and perfect.
Savannah leaned her head on Adrian’s shoulder, whispering softly, “I don’t ever want to lose this feeling.”
He looked down at her, a faint smile forming. “You won’t. I’ll make sure of that.”
Inside the house, the maid peeked out the window and smiled to herself. It had been a long time since she’d seen her employers this happy.
Life, for once, felt calm. No arguments, no accidents, no secrets in the air. Just laughter, love, and the soft sound of Savannah’s voice humming a tune as she leaned on the man who had become her peace.
But somewhere, deep down, a whisper of uncertainty still lingered — because peace never lasted forever in their world.
