Chapter 122 Chapter 122
The next morning was bright and peaceful. The sun entered through the big glass window, and birds were singing from the garden. Savannah woke up first, stretching softly beside Adrian. She looked at him and smiled. He was still asleep, one arm around her waist.
For a moment, she just watched him. The man who had changed her life. The man who made her feel safe.
Then Adrian slowly opened his eyes, blinking at the morning light. “Good morning, beautiful,” he said, his voice deep and calm.
Savannah laughed softly. “Good morning, sleepyhead. It’s already past eight.”
He smiled and pulled her closer. “It’s Saturday. No work today. I just want to stay here with you.”
Savannah shook her head with a small laugh. “You said that last Saturday too, and we ended up cleaning the whole house.”
Adrian chuckled and kissed her forehead. “Then let’s make this Saturday better. Let’s go out. I want to take you and Liam somewhere fun.”
Her eyes lit up immediately. “Really?”
“Yes,” he said, sitting up on the bed. “We’ll have breakfast, then go out for a family day. No calls, no work, just us.”
Savannah felt happy already. “Alright. Let’s wake Liam.”
When they entered the little boy’s room, he was already awake, playing with his stuffed bear. “Daddy! Mommy!” he shouted, raising his small arms.
Adrian lifted him high in the air, and Liam giggled loudly. “How’s my champ?” Adrian said.
“Good!” Liam shouted proudly.
“Then get ready. We’re going out,” Savannah said with a bright smile.
“Out?” Liam’s eyes widened. “Ice cream?”
Adrian laughed. “Yes, ice cream, and maybe the park too.”
After breakfast, they all dressed nicely. Savannah wore a light pink gown and white sandals, while Adrian wore a simple shirt and jeans. Liam was in a cute blue outfit with tiny shoes that squeaked when he walked.
Aunty Lisa followed them to the door. “Enjoy yourselves! Bring me some cotton candy!” she shouted, laughing.
“We will!” Savannah said, waving as Adrian opened the car door for her.
The ride was calm. The streets were not too busy, and Savannah sat beside Adrian while Liam sat in his baby seat, singing his own song. Adrian glanced at them from time to time, smiling quietly to himself.
They first stopped at a small family park. Children were running everywhere, balloons floating in the air, and the smell of popcorn filled the place. Savannah held Liam’s hand as he ran ahead to the playground.
Adrian followed, camera in hand. “Wait, let me take a picture!”
Liam laughed as he climbed up the small slide, and Savannah helped him down. Adrian took the picture and smiled at the view — the two people who made his world complete.
After a while, they walked to the ice cream stand. Savannah ordered strawberry for herself, chocolate for Liam, and vanilla for Adrian.
As they sat on the bench together, Savannah looked around, feeling peace in her heart. “It’s been so long since I felt this free,” she said softly.
Adrian looked at her and nodded. “You deserve peace, Savannah. You’ve been through too much.”
She smiled and looked down at her ice cream. “Sometimes I wonder if I’m dreaming. This happiness feels too real.”
Adrian leaned close. “It’s real because I’ll never let it go.”
Liam giggled between them, getting ice cream all over his cheeks. Savannah laughed and wiped it off. “You’re just like your father,” she teased.
Adrian raised an eyebrow. “That means he’s handsome, right?”
Savannah rolled her eyes playfully. “Maybe a little.”
They walked around the park again, took pictures near the fountain, and watched a clown perform tricks. Liam couldn’t stop laughing, clapping his little hands in joy. Savannah and Adrian held hands, their hearts warm.
By afternoon, they decided to go for lunch at a small outdoor restaurant near the lake. The air was fresh, and the water sparkled under the sun. Savannah leaned on Adrian’s shoulder while Liam sat eating fries.
“This place is beautiful,” she whispered.
“Yes,” Adrian said quietly. “But it’s more beautiful because of who I’m with.”
Savannah blushed a little. “You and your sweet mouth.”
He laughed. “Only for you.”
They stayed there for hours, talking, eating, and enjoying each other’s company. Savannah took pictures of Adrian and Liam feeding birds by the water, and Adrian took pictures of Savannah when she wasn’t looking.
By evening, the sky turned orange and gold. They bought cotton candy on their way back to the car, just like Aunty Lisa asked. Liam held his own stick proudly, sugar all over his face.
When they got home, Aunty Lisa came rushing. “Ah, look at you all! You look so happy! Liam, come here, let me see what you brought me.”
Liam ran to her and gave her a piece of cotton candy. “For you!” he said proudly.
Aunty Lisa smiled wide and hugged him tight. “My sweet boy!”
Savannah and Adrian stood by the door, watching them with soft smiles.
Later that night, after dinner, Savannah sat on the balcony with Adrian. The stars were out, shining softly in the dark sky.
“Today was perfect,” she whispered.
Adrian nodded. “It was. I love seeing you smile like that.”
She turned to look at him. “Thank you for giving me a life I never thought I could have.”
Adrian took her hand gently. “Thank you for giving me a reason to live for.”
They sat quietly for a while, just holding hands and watching the stars. Inside, Liam was already asleep, his little heart dreaming of slides and cotton candy.
The night breeze was cool, the world calm. Adrian looked at Savannah one more time and said softly, “This is what I always wanted — you, me, and our son. A real family.”
Savannah smiled, her eyes full of peace. “And you have it now, Adrian.”
The moonlight touched their faces as they leaned closer. It was a simple day, but to them, it meant everything.
