Chapter 117 Chapter 117
The next morning was calm and quiet. Birds sang softly near the window as the first light touched the curtains. Cassandra was already awake, sitting at her dressing table, brushing her hair slowly. She looked at herself in the mirror — the calm expression hiding the sharpness in her heart.
Today was going to be important. She had arranged a meeting between Nathaniel and the “consultant,” who was actually a man Vanessa had found — someone loyal to them and good at pretending.
Downstairs, the maids were busy preparing breakfast. The smell of coffee filled the air when Nathaniel walked in, buttoning his cuffs. “You’re up early again,” he said.
Cassandra turned with a sweet smile. “I couldn’t sleep much. I was just thinking about your meeting today.”
He raised an eyebrow. “My meeting?”
“Yes,” she said softly. “The consultant. Remember? I told him to stop by your office at eleven. He’s very professional. I think you’ll like him.”
Nathaniel nodded slowly. “Alright then. I’ll give him some minutes of my time.”
Cassandra smiled and handed him his tie. “You’ll thank me later.”
When he left, she let out a deep breath and picked up her phone. She called Vanessa.
“He’s going to see him today,” Cassandra said quickly.
Vanessa’s voice sounded pleased. “Good. Make sure the consultant focuses on the company’s internal structure. Once Nathaniel starts trusting him, we’ll move to the next step.”
“I will,” Cassandra replied. “And make sure he knows to send me copies of every report he gets.”
“Already arranged,” Vanessa said proudly.
Cassandra ended the call and felt a small wave of satisfaction. Everything was falling into place.
Later that afternoon, Nathaniel’s call came. “Cassie, you were right about that consultant. He seems sharp,” he said on the phone.
Cassandra smiled as if surprised. “Really? I told you he was good. I’m happy you like him.”
“He suggested some financial changes. I’ll have the board look at it,” Nathaniel said. “Good thinking, sweetheart.”
“Anything to help you,” she said softly, though her heart was already racing with quiet victory.
When he returned home that evening, she welcomed him warmly, setting his dinner and listening carefully as he talked about his day. “You look proud of yourself,” Nathaniel teased, noticing her small smile.
“I’m just glad I could be useful,” she replied with a light laugh.
He reached for her hand. “You’ve always been useful, Cassandra.”
For a brief moment, guilt flickered in her eyes — but it vanished quickly. She smiled and squeezed his hand. “You’re too kind.”
That night, after Nathaniel had gone to bed, Cassandra went to her study again. She unlocked her drawer and took out her notebook, flipping to a fresh page.
Step 5 – Gain company trust through consultant.
Step 6 – Begin internal account adjustments.
Step 7 – Vanessa handles PR distraction.
She tapped her pen against the page and smiled faintly. “Everything is moving,” she whispered to herself.
A knock came at the door — one of the maids.
“Ma’am, should I bring you anything?”
Cassandra turned to her, her voice calm but firm. “No, I’m fine. Just don’t disturb me again tonight.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the maid said, quickly stepping back.
Cassandra returned to her writing, her eyes sharp and thoughtful. She knew Nathaniel trusted her completely now. The fake consultant had done his job perfectly. In a few weeks, she would start redirecting small portions of money into new accounts — invisible ones under different names.
She leaned back on her chair, thinking deeply. For years, she had loved Nathaniel honestly. She had given him everything, only to be treated like she was invisible. But now, she wasn’t that broken woman anymore.
Her phone buzzed. A message from Vanessa appeared:
VANESSA: “Everything’s going as planned. You’ll be in full control before he even notices.”
Cassandra smirked, typing back:
CASSANDRA: “Good. Let’s finish this quietly.”
Meanwhile, far away, in Adrian’s mansion, Savannah was rocking baby Liam gently in her arms. Adrian sat beside her, watching both of them with a peaceful smile. The air in their home was full of laughter and warmth — everything Cassandra had once dreamed of but lost.
The contrast between both worlds couldn’t be more different — one filled with love, the other with deceit.
Back in Nathaniel’s house, Cassandra stood at her window, looking out into the night sky. She whispered softly to herself, her voice steady and cold:
“This time, I win.”
