Chapter 114 Chapter 114
It was a bright Saturday morning when Adrian’s car stopped in front of the mansion. The driver quickly stepped out to open the door, and Adrian came down, stretching his arms after a long journey.
He had been away for almost a week, and every minute had felt like a month. His heart beat faster as he looked at the big house. He couldn’t wait to see Savannah and hold baby Liam again.
As he walked in, the maids greeted him with big smiles.
“Welcome back, sir!” they said in chorus.
Adrian nodded and smiled warmly. “Thank you. How’s everyone doing?”
“We’re fine, sir. Madam Savannah is inside with the baby,” one of the maids replied.
Adrian’s eyes lit up instantly. “Good. I missed them so much.”
He climbed the stairs two at a time, his footsteps light with excitement. When he opened the bedroom door quietly, his heart melted. Savannah was sitting on the bed, feeding Liam, humming a soft lullaby.
The sound of her voice filled the room, calm and sweet.
Adrian leaned on the door for a moment, just watching them. He had never seen anything more beautiful.
Savannah looked up and gasped. “Adrian!”
He smiled widely and walked to her. “Hey, beautiful.”
Savannah quickly placed the baby gently in his cradle and stood up. Adrian wrapped his arms around her tightly, breathing her in.
“I missed you,” he whispered against her hair.
“I missed you too,” she said softly. “Welcome home.”
He kissed her forehead, then her lips. “You look more beautiful every time I see you.”
Savannah blushed, hiding her face against his chest. “Stop teasing.”
He chuckled, pulling back to look at Liam. “And my little prince… look at how big you’ve grown.”
He lifted the baby carefully and smiled as Liam cooed, waving his small hands.
“He’s stronger now,” Savannah said proudly.
“I can see that,” Adrian replied, kissing Liam’s forehead. “Daddy missed you so much.”
They spent the next few minutes just laughing and talking. Adrian asked about everything — the meals, the weather, and how Savannah had been sleeping.
But even as she smiled and talked, he noticed something in her eyes. Something quiet and heavy.
When Liam finally fell asleep, Adrian turned to her. “Savannah, is everything okay?”
She looked away quickly. “Yes, everything’s fine.”
He frowned softly. “You sure? You look… distracted.”
She forced a smile. “I’m just tired. You know how taking care of a baby can be.”
He nodded slowly, though he wasn’t fully convinced. “Alright. But if something’s wrong, you can always tell me, okay?”
Savannah nodded. “I know.”
To change the mood, Adrian opened his bag and brought out a small gift box.
“What’s that?” Savannah asked curiously.
“Something for my beautiful wife,” he said, smiling.
She opened it carefully — inside was a delicate gold bracelet with her name engraved on it.
“Adrian, it’s beautiful,” she whispered, tears in her eyes.
He smiled and fastened it around her wrist. “It reminded me of you. Simple but precious.”
Savannah hugged him tightly. “Thank you.”
They decided to eat lunch together. The maids were happy to see Adrian home again and served the couple a delicious meal — fried rice, roasted chicken, and fruit juice.
Throughout lunch, Adrian kept talking about his trip — how the meetings went, how he thought of her and Liam every night, how he couldn’t wait to come home. Savannah listened quietly, smiling when he looked at her.
But deep down, Clara’s words echoed in her head.
“Be careful, dear. Men like him don’t always stay good forever.”
Savannah pushed the thought away and focused on her husband’s face. He looked genuinely happy, full of love. Maybe she was worrying over nothing.
After lunch, Adrian carried her in his arms jokingly. “I need to make up for lost time,” he said playfully.
“Adrian!” Savannah laughed, hitting his shoulder lightly. “Put me down!”
He didn’t. He carried her upstairs like she weighed nothing. When they reached the room, he dropped her gently on the bed and kissed her forehead.
“I love you, Savannah,” he said quietly. “More than words can ever say.”
Savannah smiled faintly. “I love you too.”
For a while, they just stayed like that — together, peaceful, their hearts beating in rhythm.
Later that evening, Aunty Lisa came back from the market and almost jumped when she saw Adrian.
“Ah! My son is back!” she shouted with joy. “I was already planning to cook your favorite soup tomorrow!”
Adrian laughed and hugged her. “Aunty, you never change.”
“You look fresh, my boy,” Aunty Lisa said proudly. “How was your trip?”
“It was fine, aunty. Everything went well.”
Savannah smiled, happy to see the house lively again.
As they all talked in the living room, Adrian noticed again that Savannah’s smiles seemed forced. When Aunty Lisa went upstairs, he turned to her quietly.
“Savannah, talk to me. You’ve been quiet since morning. What’s going on?”
She hesitated, twisting her fingers nervously.
“Did something happen while I was away?” he asked again.
Savannah sighed and looked down. “Someone came to see you.”
Adrian’s brows furrowed. “Who?”
She bit her lip. “A woman. She said her name is Clara.”
Adrian froze for a moment. “Clara?”
“Yes.”
He leaned back slowly, trying to process it. “She came here?”
Savannah nodded. “She said she’s your ex.”
Adrian rubbed his forehead. “Good Lord.”
Savannah looked at him quietly. “You know her, right?”
“Yes, I do,” he said softly. “We dated years ago, before I met you. It ended a long time ago. I haven’t spoken to her in forever.”
“She said she helped you start your company,” Savannah said, her voice small.
Adrian sighed. “That’s not exactly true. She loaned me some money back then, but I paid her back. I even gave her extra when I succeeded. She just… she didn’t like that I moved on.”
Savannah looked down again. “She said men like you don’t always stay good forever.”
Adrian’s face hardened a little. “She said that?”
Savannah nodded silently.
He stood up, pacing slowly. “Unbelievable. I can’t believe she would come here to say such things.”
Savannah watched him quietly, her chest tight.
After a long pause, Adrian sat beside her and took her hands. “Savannah, look at me.”
She lifted her eyes slowly.
“I don’t care what she said. I love you. Only you. Clara is my past, and you’re my forever. Don’t ever let anyone make you doubt that.”
Tears filled Savannah’s eyes as she nodded. “I’m sorry. I just… I didn’t expect her to come.”
Adrian wiped her tears gently. “You have nothing to apologize for. She’s the one who crossed the line.”
He hugged her tightly, whispering softly, “I’ll handle this. You don’t need to worry.”
Savannah rested her head on his shoulder. “Promise?”
“I promise,” he said firmly.
That night, after putting Liam to bed, Adrian went to his study and picked up his phone. He scrolled through his old contacts until he found Clara’s number. He hesitated for a moment, then deleted it completely.
He didn’t want any trace of her in his life again.
When he came back to the bedroom, Savannah was asleep, hugging Liam’s small blanket. He smiled softly and kissed her forehead.
“I’ll protect our peace,” he whispered. “No one will take it away.”
The room was silent except for the soft sound of breathing. Outside, the night was peaceful — but deep inside Adrian’s heart, a quiet fire of determination began to burn.
Clara had crossed a line. And if she tried again, he would make sure she regretted it.
