Chapter 34
The young man stood and, in a display of dominance no doubt practiced over and over in front of a mirror, stretched his spine as tall as possible so he could loom. “Like it or not, you’re my omega. My dad wanted you for me, and he always gets what he wants.”
All feelings of sympathy evaporated in an instant. Channeling days of pent-up anger, Rafe spat out each separate syllable loaded with outrage. “Not—this—time!” He grabbed the carafe and hoisted it in the air. “Get out!”
Dumbfounded his tame puppy had turned on him, Cary sputtered, “But…you. You can’t say no—you’re in heat. You need me.”
“I don’t need a wet behind the ears alpha without sense enough to run away.” Rafe heaved the carafe at the kid, who ducked just in time. Open-mouthed with shock, the alpha stared until Rafe took a step toward him. Then the kid retreated, fumbling in his shirt pocket to retrieve a key card. He inserted it, jerked the door open, and fled.
Rafe lunged for the door, desperate to grab it before it locked him in. His fingertips caught it with less than an inch to spare. Casting a regretful glance at the bed, he wished he could snag a sheet to cover himself, but it was well beyond his reach. He’d just have to move fast enough so his tasty ass and bouncing balls were a blur to the bystanders. And even if the slave traders caught him before he made it to the street, he’d at least managed to buy a little time while they regrouped. Maybe just a day or two, but still, it was something.
He yanked the door open, took a quick step into the hallway, and collided with a solid immovable object—a large man’s chest.
Before he could react, massive arms locked around him and lifted him off his feet, leaving his bare toes stretching to find the floor.
“Hello, luv. Not planning on goin’ anywhere without me, were you?”
Oh, God. 18
The voice of the alpha dangling Rafe in the air was deep and low with an Australian accent. As if Rafe were a sack of groceries, the behemoth hauled him into the room and deposited him, bare ass first, on the cold table top. The man took a step back to examine his prize and smacked his lips. “I’ve been waitin’ a long, long time for an omega like you.”
Stunned, Rafe took a breath, preparing to demand the hulking alpha back off, only to have the man place one hand behind Rafe’s neck and the other covering his lips and nose.
“I’ll let you know when I want your mouth open.”
Held fast, Rafe struggled and tore at the attacker’s hands until he was faint from panic and lack of oxygen. He might as well have been fighting a brick wall. Black dots floating in his field of vision, he felt his strength fade away. His hands dropped to his sides, and the man at last released him. Weak and trembling, Rafe gulped deep breaths of blessed air. This alpha was insane!
“I have to thank you for ridding us of that pipsqueak. I told those fools that whacker would be no match for an untamed omega, and I was right.” He leaned in close, his hot breath enveloping Rafe’s face. “But don’t you worry none about scaring me off, luv. I don’t mind a bit of rough and tumble. Adds spice, it does.”
With one massive hand solidly behind Rafe’s neck, the man shoved his other hand between Rafe’s legs and squeezed. Pain surging, Rafe tried to protect himself, but he was helpless. Next, a thick finger slid into his entrance, probing and prodding.
“Hmm. Not quite ripe yet, but soon.” He yanked out his finger and sniffed it, his eyes half-closed in ecstasy. “Mmm, delicious.”
The man grabbed Rafe’s hands and slammed them against the enormous erect alpha penis. “You feel that? It’s all for you, darlin’. I’m gonna split you like a rail, but you can take it. You were meant for me.”
He let go and instead grabbed Rafe’s jaw, thick thumb and forefinger digging hard into the omega’s cheek. Tilting Rafe’s head left and right like a puppet, the man grinned. “After all this time, a full-grown omega who can handle what I’ve got to give. And a damn fine-lookin’ one at that.”
The alpha dropped his hold and, whistling a jaunty tune, headed for the bathroom to wash his hands.
Rafe clutched at the table to stop himself from sliding to the floor. He eased his shaking body into the chair and stared at his nightmare come to life.
The alpha returned and patted Rafe on the head, the huge ham-sized hand weighing like stone. “Don’t you worry none, luv. I’ll care for you, I’ll protect you, and you’ll give me strong sons. You’ll be fine. Well-fucked, I can guarantee, but fine.” He slapped his hand to his forehead. “That intoxicating scent of yours has my mind all muddled. You’re wonderin’ who it is you belong to. The name’s Morton, Tommy Morton. Remember it.”
The door flew open and a slim, officious-looking beta stalked in. “Mr. Morton!” The man’s voice was high-pitched with outrage. “You have been warned, but you keep running roughshod over the rules.”
The alpha aimed a broad wink at Rafe before turning to the beta. “I can’t argue with you there, Mr. Channing. The rules and I frequently aren’t on speaking terms.”
“This omega is promised elsewhere.”
“Looked to me more like you sent a boy to do a man’s job. And unless I miss my guess, the boy hasn’t stopped running. No, I’m the man for this job. I’ll take him.”
“Mr. Morton, there are many others waiting for an omega. You’ve had two already.”
“But this one’s a keeper. The ones you sold me before were naught but children. Besides, you can’t say I didn’t return them to you.”
“One with severe damage and one who remains to this day in the mental ward, exhausting precious resources, but too traumatized to be of any value.”
The alpha’s expression softened. “A real sweet child that one was. But so fragile. Still, it was sad to see him crumble so fast.” Dusting his hands as if brushing off the profitless memories, Tommy Morton straightened, and a crafty look came over his face. “This omega’s not quite ripe yet, so I’ll give you a day to consider my offer. But know this—I intend to have him. I’ll pay whatever you’re asking. I’ll even throw in the cost of hospital care for the broken one.”
As the beta paused to consider the offer, Rafe swore he could see a running calculator display in the man’s eyes. When the beta next spoke, his tone was unctuous. “I believe I might convince the board to accept your proposal.”
“Capital!”
“If you’ll accompany me, we can begin the paperwork.” Channing used his card to unlock the door and held it open, waiting for Morton.
