Chapter 51 Chapter 51
Theodore
Joshua Duvain appeared on the screen. He looks so much like Selena, yet nothing like her.
Just like Selena, there was no information about his birth, no information till he was six.
A computer science major.
I scoffed, flicking the lighter in my hand.
He appears innocent, but he has helped the police dig out underground cases, selling out gang leaders' information.
A secret agent.
I flicked the lighter.
Smart.
I flicked the lighter.
Fearless.
I flicked the lighter.
No one knew what he was capable of. To other people, he was just a young student, who found himself following groups of bad people at times, but it’s all a disguise. It was all to gather information.
All the work he has done since he was sixteen was here.
I wondered if Selena knew of this. I doubt she would, after all this was her sweet brother.
“What if he and Selena are working together? From the information here, he worked mostly on drug cases. How did he find out about our drugs? The only person who overheard us was Selena.” Ethan spoke beside me.
Could it be true that Selena was involved?
But something told me she wasn't, because I have studied her. She wasn't one to implicate herself in the world of the rich till now.
That’s why I wondered how she would feel when she finds out her dear younger brother was involved in something that dangerous.
Maybe I should send her a little package.
I smirked, closing the lighter and dropping it on the table.
“She doesn't know, and don't let her know. Keep watch over Joshua for now, I should have a plan for him soon.” I stood up.
“Dont you think you are going too trusting? Selena was
a woman sent by your mother.” Ethan has never been happy about Selena and perhaps I should listen to him.
Maybe later, I will.
I waved my finger in his eyes. “Mother found her because I chose her. There isn't much she can help mother with
Anyways. Selena isn't someone you can control that easily.”
Ethan scoffed. “You can't be so sure about that. I’m afraid she is slowly turning t—”
I glared at him and he kept shut.
The door opened, and Zac entered. “He is here,” He announced and nodded.
“Who is it?” Ethan stood up, looking at me.
“If you had stayed at the company instead of following around your little girlfriend, then you would have known who caused a ruckus in my company,” I answered, walking out of the room.
“Who is it this time?” He directed the question to Zac.
“Ms. Selena’s father. I heard he came to the company, and yelled at Ms. Selena in front of everyone, then he poured her a cup of hot coffee. Our men said boss carried her in front of everyone after.” He whispered, but I could hear him.
His informant was accurate.
Earlier before the whole thing, the security guard had informed me of Selena’s father's arrival, especially after he said he was seeking Selena.
I had watched from the camera as he threw the flower vases around.
They were thousands of dollars in total. I had asked the security to let him destroy them, before he asked the lower floor receptionist to call Selena.
I had watched as he spoke harshly to her in front of everyone. How her hand clenched to her body, she fought tears at first but then let it out.
I had seen when his eyes glanced at the cup of coffee one of the employees held, and I knew what would happen next.
I could have asked the security to stop him, asked everyone to go back inside, and had them resume their work, but pouring the coffee on Selena would let her fall back on me to avoid embarrassment.
So I picked up a towel and walked down to the ground floor and just as I predicted, the coffee was poured on her. Soaking her body, making her shirt cling to her body.
I let him leave then, but to avoid everyone's gaze, letting my men follow him secretly. His first route, the clubhouse, spoke volumes.
No one was innocent, but no one was allowed to abandon their children no matter what.
No parent was allowed to be that cruel to a kid. No one was allowed to exploit them, cursed at them.
But he has fallen into all of it. He was cruel to Selena, so he didn't deserve a second chance.
“What are you doing?” He yelled as I entered the cell he was placed in.
“You…you. What? Did my daughter send you here? That bitch, I have always known she would turn out to be that way.” He cursed again, glaring at me.
I scoffed.
He was on the floor, his hands tied to himself.
“Do you know the feeling of being helpless as a child?” I asked him, and he looked at me like I was crazy.
He wasn’t wrong, because I was.
“It has been a long time since I visited this room.” I passed him to move to my table.
I had always watched documentaries on surgery. Scalpel, needles, scissors, blood, and blood.
“Doctors are powerful. The lives of humans lie in their hands. They can kill, revive, and damage anyone.” I laughed.
I have always found this amusing. How do they hold such powers?
“What’s wrong with you? Wait..” He went silent and then said, “It's you. You are the one who carried that bitch of my daughter. Why? Is she sleeping with you? I’ve always known that Noah was too good for her, he even told me where to find her. That pathetic fool, what does he even like in her?”
So it was him, Noah.
For someone who claimed to love her, he had rather risked her.
Foolish.
“Lay his hands out flat.”
I took the hammer from the table, it was new, just like I loved it.
“What do you think you are doing? Who sent you fucking bastard!”
I watched as Zac held his hand on the stone.
“You should be grateful, I’m not in the mood to cut your hands off. I’ll just damage them a little and then take care of you. The damage should be enough to keep you away from Selena’s sight for a while.”
“What? She sent you?” His eyes widened, horror flashing in.
“Where is she? Is she watching us?” His voice was fearful now, that boastful tone gone as he looked around.
I moved down, grabbing hold of his hair. “You should know your daughter won’t want that. But then, you can't know, you never knew her.” I smirked.
I knew Selena far more than him, how stupid.
“I’ll make it quick.” I glared at his hand. His voice disappeared, everywhere was filled with dark smoke except for his hands.
My heart beat, my throat suddenly dried and then I struck with the hammer.
He screamed, his body shaking, blood slashed on the surface of the stone, over to my face.
I licked my lips, tasting the metallic blood.
“It tastes ugly.”
“Please….please..” He shook, trembling at the pain.
It was no fun. I turned to Zac, “Where is Selena?”
“She just entered a club.”
