Chapter 37 Chapter 37
Selena
‘A little red dress.’
My heart spoke out aloud as I took the dress out of the bag that he had given me.
What was his obsession with red?
First was the dress for yesterday and now this. Though this wasn't as outrageous as that was, it was strapless, stopping at my chest, its length reaching my thigh.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't something I had worn to see my boss—just something I had worn inside and maybe to the club if no one was in it.
What was there to hide if he had undressed me last night?
My face turned red at the thought.
Why did I have to embarrass myself that way?
Now there was nothing I could hide.
Damn Noah, if only he wasn't at the party.
Tying my hair in a ponytail, I checked myself in the mirror.
“This would do.” I nodded, turning my head to look at the ponytail, and then my eyes drifted to the red mark on my neck.
My fingers brushed against it.
Theodore had bitten me yesterday. It wasn't painful to leave a mark but it seemed it did. Being drunk must have crowded my senses not to feel the pain or maybe I was too used to pain.
I pursed my lips looking at it. Hopefully, it leaves before work, or I will have to cover it with concealer.
I moved to the bed, taking out my phone from the bag.
I frowned.
There was no message from yesterday to today. I looked up at the top screen.
“What is this? There's no signal?” How could there be no signal in this huge place? That was almost impossible.
How did he stay here, and receive messages then? That's strange.
I’ll have to wait until later. I checked the bag one more time before walking out of the room to the sitting room.
As if hearing my footsteps, Theodore's eyes moved from the document in his hands to my legs, tracing slowly to my thigh.
My cheeks flushed, and I bit my lip. Now that he was looking at me, the dress felt overly short, and my legs started to tremble under his heavy eyes.
“Hmm,” I hummed out loud, and his gaze rose to meet my eyes. And that wasn't even better.
There was a look to own as he looked at me, his gaze dark and I wondered what was going through his mind.
“You must really like the color red,” I laughed awkwardly, standing at the side. Not knowing if I should sit or just keep standing.
His gaze met mine. “It suits you more.” He dropped the document and stood up. My eyes followed him, completely forgetting what he had just said.
He took a cup and placed it under the coffeemaker at a little counter, the sounds of it mixing filled the room.
I watched his back as he manifested his work. Theodore was sexy. The way his back stretched as he placed his hand on the coffeemaker was electric to my bones.
My eyes trailed his tattoo on his shoulder. From the look, it seemed like a bunch of ink that lined to his chest.
“Go to the table and eat.”
“What?.. I mean..” Thanks for being caught staring again, Selena. You didn't even know he was turning.
His words slowly registered in my head.
“Um, but you said you had say after bathing and I–”
He nodded. “I did,” He took out the cup, and walked to the table, which had plates on it. He placed the cup on it.
What a jerk.
“But you should eat first, you have already missed breakfast. You shouldn't starve.”
I felt my heart go still at his words, my heart warming suddenly.
Not many people had cared about such. Not even Noah who had been with me for a long time. I was the one who had do that instead. But I have never seen it as a big deal because I was used to it.
I allowed my lips to break into a smile. Standing up, I slid into the chair to sit, fully aware of how his eyes followed me.
“Wow,” I gasped looking at the mighty breakfast or lunch. What caught my eyes were the bowl of Pozole and Tostadas. While it was easy to eat Tostadas, I have always struggled to get the perfect taste of pozole. But I knew this was going to look good.
“The coffee is yours,” I turned to him as he moved back to the couch.
What is this? He is surprisingly so sweet.
“I must be out of my mind. Theodore Mateo sweet?” I murmured to myself, taking the cup of coffee to sip from it.
Surprisingly, it was hitting. My eyes widened and I moaned, only to turn embarrassed. But thank God he wasn't looking.
“You must really like it.”
My cheeks flushed. “Yes,” I laughed awkwardly. It was strange to know he had liked something this sweet.
“Who had thought he had a sweet tooth,” I murmured to myself again, my eyes peeking at him as he went through the document.
“It was bought for you. Don't just drink coffee, eat too.”
Of course, he could hear me. What was he? An owl?
I looked around again. Something about here felt lonely.
Don't mafia bosses always have like a big mansion, where their tall bodyguards stay with nannies, Servants and all that so why was he alone here?
I stared at him, at his calmness.
“Say it.”
How did he know what I had in mind? “Hmm. I noticed there is no one here, like workers and –,”
“There is a housekeeper. I let her leave in the morning.”
“Oh.” I nodded.
“Now eat. I won’t say it again.” He still doesn't look at me.
How I wanted to disobey that, but my stomach suddenly ached.
It was silent while I ate and somehow it was peaceful. Being in a place where a clean freak exists, who happens to be my dangerous boss shouldn't be so relaxing. I should be running far away from him.
Finally, I finished eating and I drank water.
“I’m done,” I announced. His gaze finally looked up to me, then the table, and back to me.
“Come sit here,” He pointed to the smallest couch opposite him.
I bit my lips. Why was he so commanding? Yet, I stood up, sitting opposite him.
“What did you mean by you saw everything and I wanted more?” I asked flashing, lest he cut me off again.
He stared deep into my eyes. Maybe he was judging.
Then he folded his hands on his chest. His face lazy as usual. He spoke. “You suddenly pulled your gown straps, straddled me, and asked that I fuck you with tears streaming down your eyes.”
I closed my eyes. Why did he have to say it like that?
I should feel embarrassed, but there was another feeling.
I wanted to know how it had been, to be on his lap, straddling him.
Why can’t I remember?
I bit my lips, “I –”
My phone beeped, cutting off my words.
Finally, there was a signal. But my excitement was replaced with a frown. I swipe open the message from the lady.
“I was told you found your way inside Theodore’s penthouse. I didn't think you had made your way so soon, but it's expected after all, he took an interest in you first. I want you to find a document, it is important, so make sure you aren't caught.”
An image of a brown-covered document with strips followed.
